This is what I did.....

I make the majority of my card square, so that's what I decided to go with for this challenge.  But, I just noticed, I did sneak some rectangles on there too with the way I did the sentiment.  This image was a freebie from Artherapie.  I do find it difficult to colour match blues.  Wish I had went with a darker blue for the birds now that I see it on screen.  Next time!  (;

Cards That Are Hard to Make @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying she wants to see those cards that are hard to make....like sympathy, sorry, etc.  Great chance to add those cards to your stash so you don't have to make one when you actually need it.

This is what I did....

I went with a sympathy card.  I always find it really sucks to have to make a sympathy card when you need it, so I always have a couple in my stash.  I tend to keep my sympathy makes fairly muted and plain.  Not that a sympathy card has to be.  I've seen some lovely ones that are very colourful, but that's not something I find I can do with these types of cards.  And, since they are almost always going in the mail, I tend to leave off embellishments too.

What Did You Make For Easter @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's asking, "What Did You Make For Easter?"  So, let's see those Easter projects!

Admittedly, I generally haven't made Easter projects since my kids became teenagers.  But, when I saw this freebie from Artherapie, I had no trouble making this....

I love this greyscale image, makes for making a quick card, that's for sure.  When I decided to use it I thought I'd have difficulty finding patterned paper to match it with, but it turned out that I had a lot of different options to choose from.  The photo makes it look like it's a bit of a mismatch though.  You'll just have to take my word for it.  (:

Slimline Cards! @ Little Red Wagon

I have to admit, while I do like slimline cards, I'm not very good at making them.  I'm not much of a scene builder, and if you're not doing that, you've got a lot of card to fill up with just one image.  When I was taking a gander through my digis, I came across a freebie from Artherapie that had four forest critters in grayscale.  So, I came up with this.....

I added the green and red to make it a little more colourful.  And, my scene just consists of a piece of patterned paper and some die cut cardstock, so even I could manage that.

Just KIDding! @ Little Red Wagon

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Just KIDding!" which means that I want to see projects about or for kids or teens.  So, it can either have a kid or teen on it OR be for a kid or teen (with whatever you want on it) or both.

When I saw this free digi from Artherapie I thought it was perfect for this challenge.....

.....because it really reminded me of my youngest.  Gotta love seeing teen images that aren't cutesy.  Not that I don't love cutesy.  Take a look at my last, oh, I dunno, 100 cards and I bet 95 of them are cutesy.  But, the teenage girl set, maybe doesn't like cutesy quite so much.  So it's awesome there's images out there like this.

I went for a scribbly style of colouring which I thought worked well for this.  Pretty fun to do, I must say.  Originally I wanted to use the word Fierce as a sentiment but I did not have a die cut or stamp.  Kinda wish I had figure out a way to do that.  Maybe I'll change it before I give it to her.  (:

Flora or Fauna! @ Little Red Wagon

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Flora or Fauna!" which means.....well, I think you all know what it means. She's going easy us, that's for sure!
 

So....I have an extensive collection of digi stamps. And, I keep them all organized in folders, with various sub-folders where necessary (eg. main folder of Birthday with sub-folders such as Birthday Animals, Birthday People, Birthday Sentiments etc.), with both the name of the digi and the artist as the file name so it's also easy to search for something specific or a certain brand/artist. Some of these folder are quite populous. My Animals folder (with multiple sub-folders) has 675 digis. My Flowers folder has 176 images. I have some folders that are fairly small too....like my Feathers & Flora folder. It has only 18 stamps in it, and it's one I rarely dive into. So, I decided to challenge myself to use something from it. This is what I did....

Goodbye @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Goodbye" (but don't worry, she's not going anywhere!) which means she wants to see those projects in a farewell theme....it could be a retirement or moving or graduation or......

....in sympathy. I tend to keep my sympathy cards simple, this one's a little more....more....than usual. Image was a freebie from Artherapie, but I noticed afterward I could have just used patterned paper and could have achieved the same look....though I don't think I have any paper that's this classy & pretty.  Sentiment stamp is from MFT.  And, that little felt bird is from a pack of embellishments that I picked up from Michaels eons ago.  Like, back when I used to buy embellishments because I thought I'd use 'em.  Now I just internally pterodactyl scream at myself if I even look at a pack of embellishments while I think of the clogged drawer in my crafting area that is bulging with packages of pretties I don't really even have any intention of ever using.  Well, unless it's buttons or bling.  But those get stored in a different spot so it's okay to still buy them.  Paper flowers also go in a different spot but it's NOT OKAY to still buy them.  Just making sure I get that out there so myself doesn't try to find a loophole with that.

April Showers! @ Little Red Wagon

I must say, I wiiiiiiish we could have April showers here. We've been getting snow, snow, snow, snow. There was such a hard squall blow through yesterday morning that I couldn't leave the house for 20 minutes. MOTHER NATURE, IT'S APRIL!! Luckily, the snow hasn't been sticking around, so that's something anyway. Remember the three days of nice spring weather we had since spring sprung, my fellow mid-western Ontarians? Good times, good times.

Our frigid weather made me forgo the a typical April showers card and go for something a little more cheerful....

Wild One! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Wild One!" which just means that she'd like to see a wild animal on your project. So, that means anything that's not a pet or a well-behaved child (haha) goes.

Now, my friends, there is some cause to celebrate, for I have discovered the all-time best punny sentiment. I did not come up with it, though I wish I could take credit for it. It's probably just as well I didn't create it though. I think if I had, that would have been the literal end for me. I would know that I could never do anything to top it. There would no longer be anything to strive for, perfection would have been achieved, and I would slowly fade from existence, secure in the knowledge that my brilliant word play would live on and be tittered at the world over.

Except not by my daughter because apparently she didn't find it funny.  So, while everyone else will be amused by my legacy, and will understand why I have transcended this earthly plane, she'll just be walking around our house going, "Mom.  MOM.  MOM!  MOOOOOOOOOOM!  WHAT'S FOR SUPPER?"

Anyhoo, here's the card (with attached punniest sentiment)....

Amirite?  Don't tell me you didn't at least snort over that.

I realize that the image (from Artherapie) is probably meant to more represent a parent/child relationship then a romantic pairing.  But, the sentiment could work for that too, I suppose.  And, really, I'm sure there's lots of couples out there where one is considerably smaller than the other, so this image could be an accurate representation.  Not around here though as my husband is just shy of 6' to my slightly more than 5'9".  But, my celebrity boyfriend that I'm dating inside my head is quite tall so, I know he'll appreciate it.

Stitch It @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Stitch It!" which just means.....well, you know what it means. Real, faux, on patterned paper, theme or whatever. As long as there's some sort of stitching it's all good.

This is what I did.....

As you can see I went with faux stitching via some stitched dies.  Once upon a time I used to actually machine stitch on most of my cards.  And I loved the look of it.  Then, I got these stitched shape dies and haven't touched my machine since.  I'll admit, I haven't missed it.  I even found a couple of cards with machine stitching kicking around here and, looking at them I realize that I now prefer the die stitching to actual stitching.  Like really prefer.  And here I thought I was just being lazy by reaching for the easy-peasy die cut option.  But yeah, that's probably influencing my preferredness too.  (:
