Set a Course...For Home @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Set a Course...For Home" which means I would like to see projects that have any kind of building on them.

This is what I did....

I made this up in Canva...except for the lil hearts, they are stamped with an old little wooden stamp I picked up from somewhere and have had forever.  Let me tell you, was I ever holding my breath when I did the stamping as I didn't think of doing it until the entire card was put together.  Add that to the fact that my ink pads are mostly cheapies I've gotten here or there and they are fairly ancient (as far as ink pads go) and since it was a wooden stamp, I couldn't use my Misti.  (I know, I probably could have pried the stamp off the block, but I also don't really have anything that would make the stamp stick to the Misti).....anyhoo, that's a lot of explanation for something that actually turned out almost perfectly.  (Just don't look too closely at the green heart.)

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Can You Feel the Love Tonight @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's going with an Elton John songs theme for 2025.  This week it's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" which means she wants to see those projects about luuuuurrrrvvvvvveeee. ♥♥♥

This is what I did.....

I've used a Melonheadz Illustrating image and coloured it up to look like my daughter and her girlfriend (my newest sub-baby) so my daughter could use it as a Valentine's card.  I was teasing her by telling her that, even though she's taller than B, I went with the slighter shorter one for her as she'd be the one more likely to do a high side ponytail.  I tried not to feel hurt by her scoff seeing as I used to rock the high side pony back in the 80s.  (:

Even though a lot of you agreed with me two weeks ago, I'm gonna say it again in case there's someone new visiting.....red and pink go beautifully together, and you'll never convince me otherwise.  So there.  (:

Let's Get Rocked! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to be inspired by Def Leppard and this week she's saying, "Let's Get Rocked!" which means she wants to see projects inspired by rock songs.

I went with one of my favourite songs, a tune from Pearl Jam.....

...which, in case you haven't guessed it is called "Just Breathe".  Here's a link to the song's video if you'd like to hear it.  It's one of my all-time favourites.  I think it was very nice of Eddie Vedder to sing it in a fairly even and midrange key so I could have a hope to sing along without wanting to plug my own ears.

Sentiment was made in Silhouette Design Studio.

Valentine's Day - Show Us Some Love! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's wants us to show the love since it's Valentine's Day today - yuck, I mean, yay!

I don't think it's any secret that I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day.  And it's not because of the whole commercialism and price gouging by restaurants and places selling flowers....I say yuck to almost anything lovey-dovey or romantic.  Unless it includes snacks.  Then it's okay.

Doesn't mean I don't like to make cards with a love theme though.  Probably because you can give a card about luuuuurve but also be far away from that card when it's given, either because it was sent in the mail, or you just frisbee-flung it at someone and ran out the door.  That's acceptable adoration in my opinion.

So....here's my card.....

Anyone who says red and pink don't go together is just plain wrong.  A couple of no-namer dies, a very, very old punch, an equally as old heart embossing folder and a computer generated sentiment and that's it.  Uncomplicated love, just as it should be.  (:

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Square or Rectangle! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Square or Rectangle!" which means she'd like to see projects using those shapes.

This is what I did.....

I make the majority of my card square, so that's what I decided to go with for this challenge.  But, I just noticed, I did sneak some rectangles on there too with the way I did the sentiment.  This image was a freebie from Artherapie.  I do find it difficult to colour match blues.  Wish I had went with a darker blue for the birds now that I see it on screen.  Next time!  (;

Dog Days! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Dog Days!" which means, you guessed it, she wants to see a dog on your project.

This is what I did.....

Had this cutie, from Sassy Cheryl's Stamps, coloured up for a bit now but just couldn't seem to make a card using it.  Seeing as this was the perfect challenge to use her, I made it work this time.  I used letter stickers for the sentiment because my printer apparently went on vacation (without the required notice, of course) and would not print out the Word-generated sentiment I had typed.  Joke's on it though coz I think this was the better choice anyway.  So, ha.

The Power of Love @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Shani's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "The Power of Love" which means she'd like to see those projects all about luuuuuuuuurrrrve.  (:

This is what I did.....

As you can see, this bear (and sentiment) from The Cat's Pajamas is all about love!  And, since this was a clear stamp set, I even embossed the sentiment.  I do love the look of embossed sentiments but I find you've got to use a really good quality stamp to get it to look good/work right.  I'va always found The Cat's Pajamas stamps are excellent, so I emboss the sentiment whenever I can.....as long as I'm not deciding to be lazy, that is.  (:

Simply Clean & Simple! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's yours truly's turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Simply Clean & Simple!" which means, you guessed it, I want to see those cas cards.

First of all, I need to call someone out.  Looking at you here, Mother Nature.  If you notice, MN, I didn't post a Christmas make last week.  It was a birthday make.  So, why then, did you think it would be okay to SNOW on and off all day yesterday with temps of 1ºC, on the SECOND DAY OF MAY?  Huh?  Not nice.

Now that that's outta the way, here's my card.....

As you can see, I've got a lot of white space on there to make it cas.  And, it's just empty space, MN, NOT SNOW.

Stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas.  I used a precut card for this one, and it has more tooth than the cardstock I normally use for stamps/digis.  I kinda like the rough look of it, so it's working for me.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Frenchified! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Shani's turn to choose the challenge and she's got an absolutely fun one for us this week.  Shani, who lives in France, is saying, "Frenchified!" which means she wants us to incorporate Frenchness in our project.  So, think the Eifel Tower, croissants, cheese, escargots, kissing (hoh, hoh, hoh), a sentiment en Francais, or even.....

french fries!  Now, I know I should have been a good Canadian and went with some actual French.  And initially, that was indeed the plan.  My original thought was to go with a pretty lady image or the like and pair it with the sentiment: Oh là là.  But, french fries won out....like they generally do, at least for me, when it comes to forms of potatoes.

Image is clip art, I just printed it out twice, once to colour and once at the bottom of a page, then folded it, and cut it out, leaving part of the top uncut.  An easy way to make a shaped card.  Coloured the fries, paper pieced the fry container, added the googly eyes, and that was about that.  I always say, the only thing better than googly eyes on a card, is two different sized googly eyes.  The sentiment inside is as follows:

Would have been great if I could have incorporated French there....but I have frites for only you doesn't really work on the punniness scale.  So I let the fries stand as the only French thing.  Now, if I had any talent, I could have made my fries into poutine, because that's a very French-Canadian thing....and it's delicious too.  I once had poutine at The Canadian Potato Museum in Prince Edward Island (PEI), and let me tell you, amazing doesn't even cover how good it was.  My daughter and I talk about driving out there again just to have the poutine (it's a 1840km drive which would take about 19 hours of straight driving) and we're not completely joking.  Drat, now I'm hungry for poutine.

Fruits or Vegetables! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Fruits or Vegetables!" which means she wants to see some kind of fruit or vegetable on your make.

This is what I did....

I went all lovey-dovey again this week.  Not overly sappy irl, but I sure do love making cards about love.  And, if I can throw in a pun, well that's even better.  Although, I did mess up the pun at first which had me scrambling to fix it as I was making up this post.  Originally, the card read ...apply ever after.  Which, as you know, apply is an actual word, and it's not pronounced the way it should be to make the card make sense.  A quick removal of the letters, the cutting of an E, and getting them all back on there, worked out, thank goodness.  I will also say, I'm kinda second guessing myself with the font.  I think the wee hearts is a little much with this patterned paper.  Oh well, one hasty fix per card is enough!  (:

Apple is a clipart image and the letter dies are from Paper Smooches.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Ack!  In looking at it on the screen, the die cut letters are definitely not centred in between the my and ever like they should be.  Darn this card!  lol

Somebody To Love! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Kate's first challenge of the year and she's going with songs from Queen for 2023 (last year it was songs from The Beatles) and she's saying, "Somebody To Love!" which is a pretty fitting challenge with Feb. 14th a week away.

This is what I did......

I used an adorable digi from LauraInguz on Etsy.  The shop is from Madrid, so the sentiment that came with the image was in Spanish, and it read:  siempre de la mano.  Now, since the only Spanish I know is what I picked up from Dora the Explorer back in the day...after all, we don't get exposed to much Spanish here in Canada.....I ran the sentiment through Google Translate and it came back with: always hand in hand.  I'm guessing that's not the exact translation....I mean, seeing as the translation uses the word hand twice, while the sentiment does not have any words that repeat.  I would love to hear from anyone who does know Spanish to let me know....well...why.  And the actual translation if Google didn't get it quite right.  Thanks!

Feature Warm Drinks! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Feature Warm Drinks!" which means she wants to see those drinks to make your insides feel all toasty.  Yum!

I'm not a coffee drinker at all (no boiled mud for me, thanks) but I do enjoy teas as well as hot chocolate or 'fake' latte-type drinks like a Tim Hortons French Vanilla.  I have no problem crafting coffee though....

....especially when you can make the to-go cup pretty in pink.  Coffee cup digi is from From the Heart Stamps, and I added the sentiment in Canva.

Glitz, Glitter, Gleam, Glow! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Glitz, Glitter, Gleam & Glow!" which just means that I want to see those projects that have glitter or foiling or bling or have lights/lamps/candles etc. or even a make that's just really ritzy.  Lots of options there!

Now, this would be the perfect theme for which to make a Christmas creation, right?  Welp, I did something different.....

.....a wedding card!  As you can see, I've got patterned paper with a foiled design, a couple of glittery hearts, and a Stickles-over-fun-foam ampersand.  I also employed a (successful, imo) trick to hide the fact that I did not have quiiiite enough of that patterned paper to cover my whole card front.  Just added some black cardstock to the back of the one piece to make it just that little bit bigger.  And, it looks like I was being oh so fancy with my background.

Image is from Tiddly Inks.  This is a big go-to of mine for wedding cards.  I was considering trying to colour pleats into the dress, but I've never really been that good at that, so I just left the dress as is.  Figured a little bland is a much better look than glaringly wrong.  Ha, that could be my life motto.  (:

All You Need Is Love! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she continuing the trip through the music of The Beatles so the challenge is "All You Need Is Love!" which means that she wants to see projects about love.

Now, I've got something a little special and a little different for my make.....

....I'm showing you the project that my oldest asked me to make for his SO's birthday....featuring a photo of their proposal!!  He proposed back in May, and constructed a makeshift tripod for his phone to video the event.  This picture is a still from the video.  I don't know if many of you know about this Spotify photo frame trend......essentially, that bar of lines is a barcode for that song, Marry That Girl.  So, from the Spotify app, you can scan that barcode and that song will start playing.  Cool, eh?

I downloaded a free Spotify icons svg, as well as the barcode and cut it out of vinyl with my Silhouette.  The hardest part was figuring out how to get everything on there straight.  Sure made me wish I had a large grid mat!  In case it's not obvious, the glass in the frame is totally clear, and anything you see on or through it other than the photo and the black vinyl are reflections and/or the surface it's sitting on.  It was not an easy one to photo, that's for sure!

And yes, I do realize it's not exactly a papercraft.  But, seeing as I'm on the DT, I think I have a little leeway.  (:

Wedding date has been set for July 2023.  💗

Make It Anything But Square or Rectangle! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Make It Anything But Square or Rectangle!" which just means that she would like to see those shaped projects.

I don't know why I don't do shaped cards more often.  I generally really enjoy making them and usually like how they turn out.  And there are so many different ways to make shaped cards.  This is what I did.....

I made a cup of tea card!  I just printed this digi (from the long-gone ): ) The Alley Way Stamps on bottom of some white cardstock and strategically folded it with the fold line running along the very top of the cup and cut it out.  Then it was just a matter of printing it again on patterned paper (cropping the image for only what I needed for each piece was printed) and paper piecing the digi.  Typed a sentiment in Word, used a tag die to cut it out, tied on some twine and secured the twine to the card by tying it to the handle.  And that was pretty much that.  It's a tad smaller than most of the cards I make, but too big to be a mini.  We'll just say it's a cute size.  (:

Make It Count! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Make It Count!" which just means that she would like to see numbers on your project.

This is what I did.....

Yeah, so mine is number instead of numbers.  I had every intention of adding some patterned paper with numbers on it to my card but I just couldn't make it work.  I'm hoping my prominent 2 will make up for the fact that there's just the one number.  I really wish I had the time (and patience!) to have printed my computer-generated sentiment right on the card front instead of a piece of cardstock.  But, seeing as it was late last night that I was making this, I took the easy way out.  Digi is from Mo's Digital Pencil.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.
