Tiny Dancer! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing with her Elton John songs theme and this week she's singing, "Tiny Dancer!" which means she wants to see something tiny on your project.

I like Elton John well enough, he's a brilliant entertainer/singer/songwriter for sure, my tastes are more alternative rock while he's more pop/pop-rock (at least imho).  That's why I'm gonna give myself a pass for trying to remember Tiny Dancer, and ending up combining it with a well-known Tina Turner song and head-singing "She's a tiny dancer, a dancer for money...." before figuring out that definitely wasn't right.  Although, one could argue that whole "Hold me closer, tiny dancer" fits in with that mashup pretty darn good.

Anyhoo.....here's my card....

For my tiny, I've used a tiny bow, tiny button and a tiny tag.  Tag is from LOTV and digi is a favourite of mine from Whimsie Doodles, which, very sadly, is long closed.  ):

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Build A Snowperson! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Build a Snowperson!"  I think we all know that she just wants to see projects with snowpeople on them, right?  (I could make some sort of Game of Thrones Jon Snow joke here but I figure I'm a couple years too late so I just won't bother.  (: )

Anyhoo, this is what I did.....

I absolutely adore this snowman pair/scene from Whimise Doodles.  The bold, uncomplicated lines make it perfect to do some paper piecing.  I was very sad when that shop closed.  ):  Sentiment is from Create With TLC.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's (belatedly) celebrating "Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day" which mean she wants to see projects that either have bears on them or have to do with work/working. Isn't that awesomely fun? I sure think it is.

Ever have one of those situations where everything manages to fall exactly into place and you actually come up with a project that nails the challenge? So much so that you reward yourself with a bowl of ice cream for lunch because you were such a good DT Member this week? Welp, that was me for this challenge. [Although, in the interest of full disclosure I've also rewarded myself with a bowl of ice cream (or other various treats) for a myriad of "did good" reasons that may or may not include instances like: taking the dog for a walk even though it was (barely) drizzling, waiting until my coworker turned her back before rolling my eyes, remembering to take meat out of the freezer for supper etc.]

So, this is what I did.....

See that?!?!  It's a bear who is going to work!!  A bear.  Going to work.  Challenge defeated!

Apparently it's Loud Tie Tuesday at his firm too.

Digi is from Whimsie Doodles who are, sadly, out of business.  I had initially wondered about a sentiment....I wasn't sure what sort of occasion to have this card be for.  I decided to go with a pun because PUNS GO WITH EVERYTHING.  (Don't try to argue with me on that, I'll fight you.)

Why don't you give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Move On! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Move On!", and she doesn't mean she wants you to get outta here, she just wants to see projects that have some sort of interactive feature. So, think shakers, pop ups, sliders or maybe even....

a reveal wheel card!  My first one ever.  I gotta admit, it was easier than I thought it was gonna be.  When I was going along making it, and everything was going swimmingly, I kept saying to myself, "Okay, so when am I going to mess this up?  There's no way I'll get it done without making some sort of stupid mistake....."  And I did, of course.  When I stamped the sentiments on the wheel, inside my very carefully traced circles, I just stamped them all parallel to the bottom.  Of course, when you turn the wheel, the words ended up sideways and upside down, save one.  That wasn't a big deal though, just die cut another scalloped circle, traced the openings again and lightly wrote the words inside the next time so I'd know which way to stamp 'em.  Easy-peasy!

I am kicking myself for not thinking to paper piece the balloon and then die cut the wheel out of the same paper though.  I think that would have taken the card up a notch, don't you?  Next time, for sure.

Oh, and here's a craptastic video of how it works.  Sorry, I should have conscripted a child-o'-mine enlisted an aide to help film it.  Still, you get the idea.

Old or New Trends @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge for us and she's got a fun one. She wants us to use old or new trends to make our project.

I'm a bit of a not-jump-on-the-bandwagon person myself.....I tend to stay with the tried and true methods. I'd like to say that it's coz I know what I like but, really, I think it's more laziness than anything. Well, that and the fact that a lot of the new papercrafting trends have to do with using inks and I'm terrible at doing that. And watercolouring is big right now too....and I'm too chicken to do much with that....and most of my stamps are digi, so not water-friendly. So, old trends it is.

And this is the golden-oldie I chose....

...paper piecing!  Actually, one could say that those letter stickers are old trend as well.  As a matter of fact, so are those punched snowflakes.  Really, the whole card is fairly old school except for those stitched shape dies.  Look at me, did a better job on the challenge than I had originally thought - yay!

Sketchy Times @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Heather's turn to chose the challenge and she's saying, "Sketchy Times". She's put a fun twist on it too.....she's not showing you a sketch to use, you can pick whatever sketch you want! Just let us know the source.

I was super lazy with this one.....I just chose my own sketch - ha!  It was the challenge at LRW awhile back. Well, in truth, it's also my go-to sketch. And it's my favourite sketch too. It looks like this....

And this is what I did.....

As you can see I changed the circle to a square....which is the great thing about sketches.  You don't have to follow them exactly, just use them as a jumping off point.  Digi is from Whimsie Doodles, which has closed.  *insert super sad face here*  I always hate to see digi stamp sites close their doors.  Especially awesome ones like Whimsie Doodles. *sigh*  Die cut sentiment is from Stamplorations.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.
