G is for Gentleman! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to work her way through the alphabet and she's saying, "G is for Gentleman!" meaning she wants to see those masculine makes.

This is what I did.....

I went with this amazing digi from Poppy Lane Digital (whose Etsy shop appears to be closed ): ) and made a birthday card.  I absolutely love this style of digi stamp.  Sentiment was made in Canva.

I need to make a very important announcement.  Even though the sentiment states "When life sends you a birthday...eat cake!" I would like to point out that anytime life sends you anything is an appropriate time to eat cake.  Got sent an email?  Cake.  Got sent to the 'next available agent'?  Cake.  Got sent a package from Amazon?  Well, hopefully it's cake, because cake.  I rest my case.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Also for:

Be Krafty! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Be Krafty!" which means she would like to see kraft paper on our projects.

This is what I did.....

I used to use kraft cardstock a lot.....but for quite some time I haven't found kraft paper I really like.  I really like the top kraft paper (that I embossed) but I'm down to scraps, which is why the card base is a completely different shade of kraft that I'm not very fond of.  Digi is from The Cat's Pajamas, which has closed.  ):  Tag is a digi from LOTV.

Masculine! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Masculine!" which means she would like to see those masculine makes.

This is what I did.....

To me, "masculine" for cards means clean lines and not a lot of frou-frou.  Admittedly, that's most of my cards.  Made this challenge super easy for me.  (:  Digi is from the long closed Dilly Beans stamps and sentiment tag is from LOTV.

Ya Gotta Have Christmas in July! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Ya Gotta Have Christmas in July!", so let's see those winter holiday makes!

This is what I did....

I was doing some tidying and came across this image (from Tim Holtz) already stamped on textured cardstock, from back in the day when I did all my colouring on it, and I thought I'd give that a whirl again.  I think it works well with this stamp.  Used up some scraps for the background - go me!  lol

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to take us through Elton John songs with this week being, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" which means she wants to see yellow on your project.

This is what I did.....

Digi is from Melonheadz Illustrating.  Kinda wish I had done the sentiment as a couple of lines rather than single words now that I'm looking at it here.  But aren't those gold wings fantastic?!?  Pure luck I found them because I was looking for something completely different when I went spelunking in my embellishment drawer.  Never did find what I was actually looking for, of course.  (:

Make It Sew! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Make It Sew!" which means, you guessed it, I want to see sewing on your make.

Back in the day, I used to do a lot of sewing on my cards using thread and an actual sewing machine.  With the popularity of stitched dies, I've definitely taken that route to get "sewing" on my cards for a number of years now.  I can't even remember the last time I pulled out the ole sewing machine.  I do still like the look of actual sewing on a card....but with the extra time sewing takes and the extra weight and sometimes lumpiness it adds to cards, I think I'll stick to the easy way.  (:

This is what I did....

Snowman is one of my very favourite digis from Tiddly Inks.  A couple of stitched dies, and some word stickers and there's another Christmas card for my stash.

C is for Circles! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's taking us through the alphabet with this week being, "C is for Circles!" which means, you guessed it, she would like to see circles on your project.

You know, some weeks I feel like I didn't really represent the challenge theme well.....

...but this is not one of those weeks.  (:  Bear with circle cheeks in a circle wreath, on a circle that's on a scalloped circle that's on patterned paper with snow globes with two circle buttons just to round (Hahaha, see what I did there?) everything out.

All Tied Up! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "All Tied Up!" which means she wants to see ribbon or twine on your project.

This is what I did....

After I made this and took a good look at it, I realized that the balloons are way out of portion for the size of the bear.  I mean, we could have an Up situation here.  Then I remembered that it's not very often bears wear hats, so I could stop worry about how realistic my card is.

New Beginnings! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's going with that quintessential first challenge of the year - "New Beginnings!" which means she wants to see those "new" projects, like new home, new job, new baby etc.

This is what I did.....

....I went with a new baby card.  Originally, the sentiment was Welcome Baby so that it could be used for a boy or girl baby but the shorter sentiment didn't look right.  I didn't think Welcome Sweet Baby ______ would be received well, so after a look in my stash and seeing that I did have a baby girl card, I gendered it with boy.  Digi is from Scraps and Designs on Etsy.

Well, Dear Reader, I hope 2025 is off to a great start for you!  Wishing you much craftiness in the year to come.  ❤

Action! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and, with the last of her Def Leppard inspired themes, she's saying, "Action!" which means she wants to see a project with anything that moves.

This is what i did....

My original plan was to go with a shaker card....but unfortunately, that ended up in the garbage.  I've had no luck making shakers as of late.  I was going to give it another go, when I discovered I was out of acetate.  *grumble*  While I was perusing my digis, I remembered this image, which fits the theme (at least IMO), so I went with it.  Looks like a couple of those reindeers are definitely regretting being on a sled rather than pulling it.  Image is a freebie from somewhere....but I didn't add the name to the file so I can't tell you where, sorry!  Usually I'll add a lil somethin somethin in the middle of a bow, but I was so proud of my tie job (generally I'm not), I left it naked.

Monochromatic! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Monochromatic!", and I think we all know what that means.

This is what I did.....

Except for the sentiment (which didn't emboss as well as I would have liked) and the snowflakes on the patterned paper, everything is green.  Sentiment is from Purple Onion.

White Lightning! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "White Lightning!" which means she wants to see those weather related makes.

This is what I did.....

It appears that Barry, from Stamp Fairy (long closed ): ), would like it to snow more.  Probably because he needs to make another couple of parts for his snowman.  Luckily, if the patterned paper in the background is any indication, there's snow incoming.

I tried using a light layer of Stickles over his snowball to make it look more snow-like.....can't say I'm happy with how it turned out.  Won't be doing that again, but it didn't ruin the card at least.

Numbers! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Numbers!" which means all you gotta do is include a number on your project.

This is what I did.....

The image came from a freebie tag collage.....unfortunately I didn't indicate from where on the file name so I can't tell you where it's from.  I let my number take the stage by die cutting it out of glitter fun foam.  I LOVE me some fun foam for word and number dies.  You get dimension without having to glue together layers of cardstock.  And if it's glitter fun foam - even better!  It's from a dollar store, so it does shed a bit, but I'll take it for the price.  (:  I haven't been able to replenish my stash for awhile now as I can't seem to find it anywhere.....I'm all out of red.  ):

With Sympathy @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "With Sympathy".  Always nice to have those types of cards in the stash so you don't have to make one when it's needed.

This is what I did.....

For me, when it comes to sympathy cards, I always think less is more.  And, it's gotta be easy to mail.  I let a piece of patterned paper do the heavy lifting on this one.  Added a stamped sentiment from My Favourite Things, a couple of flat embellies and left it at that.

Sparkle & Shine! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm going with one of my faves...."Sparkle & Shine!".  So, anything with glitter, foil, mirror, the sun, stars, bling....lots of different options!

This is what I did....

And the money shot....

As you can see, I've got more than a bit of Stickles on there, along with some sparkly enamel dots.

Digi is from Melonheadz Illustrating.  I've always loved this digi, but I've never used it because.....well....you most definitely want it to go to someone who has a good sense of humour and/or someone who is really skinny, so it doesn't end up looking like an insult, iykwim.  Reason I was able to use it now was because it will go into a Christmas basket, which will be one of about 17 baskets that 17 people will choose for themselves.  That way, if a basket-recipient does not find this card humourous, they can pick a different one instead.  (:

Make It Masculine! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's going with a favourite of mine, "Make It Masculine!".  Now how you make it "masculine" is completely up to your interpretation.  It doesn't necessarily have to be for someone male, or have an image of a boy/man.  Masculine to you might mean bold or dark colours.  It might mean clean lines.  Or maybe you've made a card for a special "he" who loves pink and flowers.  It's all good.  (:

This is what I did....

I love this reindeer from Tiddly Inks.  A lot of the masculine themed cards I make are heavy on the brown.  No exception with this one.  Clean lines, and some vehicle patterned paper, all = masculine in my book.  Not that I have an actual "masculine book", of course.  (-;

Two Steps Behind! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing through the discography of Def Leppard and she's saying, "Two Steps Behind!" which means she wants to see those step cards or other cards of unique design.

I decided to try a type of card I've never made before and here's the outside....

Really not much going on there.  Here's the inside....

I don't feel like I quite hit the mark with this one.  The "steps" are too wide (or the stamps are too small) and, when it takes as much time as this took to make, I want to love it when I'm done, kwim?  Can't say as I do.  Still, it's another Christmas card for the stash, so it's not all a loss.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.
