Make It Sew! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Make It Sew!" which means, you guessed it, I want to see sewing on your make.

Back in the day, I used to do a lot of sewing on my cards using thread and an actual sewing machine.  With the popularity of stitched dies, I've definitely taken that route to get "sewing" on my cards for a number of years now.  I can't even remember the last time I pulled out the ole sewing machine.  I do still like the look of actual sewing on a card....but with the extra time sewing takes and the extra weight and sometimes lumpiness it adds to cards, I think I'll stick to the easy way.  (:

This is what I did....

Snowman is one of my very favourite digis from Tiddly Inks.  A couple of stitched dies, and some word stickers and there's another Christmas card for my stash.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Make It Masculine! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's going with a favourite of mine, "Make It Masculine!".  Now how you make it "masculine" is completely up to your interpretation.  It doesn't necessarily have to be for someone male, or have an image of a boy/man.  Masculine to you might mean bold or dark colours.  It might mean clean lines.  Or maybe you've made a card for a special "he" who loves pink and flowers.  It's all good.  (:

This is what I did....

I love this reindeer from Tiddly Inks.  A lot of the masculine themed cards I make are heavy on the brown.  No exception with this one.  Clean lines, and some vehicle patterned paper, all = masculine in my book.  Not that I have an actual "masculine book", of course.  (-;

Christmas In July! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's catching the very last day possible for this theme - "Christmas In July!".

I know I've been feeding you all a pretty steady diet of Christmas cards here at Huh.  So This Is a Blog.  Truth be told, I don't generally make cards other than the ones I make for LRW.  And, since the cards I need most of are Christmas cards....well, then it's Christmas cards you see here pretty much all year 'round.

So, this is what I did....

Digi is from Tiddly Inks.  I love these super cute birds.

Women! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Women!", which is a Def Leppard song I'm not actually familiar with.....let me ask the All Knowing Google.....nope, seems like this one got by me.  But, in looking into this I saw that Def Leppard is doing a show in Canada, in Toronto (of course)....let's see....just for fun let's click on Best Tickets.....okay, $1798.80 a ticket for Pit B.  Alrighty then.  I think you'd have to pay me $1798.80 to get me in a mosh pit.  Although, I am amusing myself thinking about me harshing everyone's vibe by standing there, completely unimpressed, rbf in full force, arms crossed, not at all rocking out to the music.  Well, until "Let's Get Rocked" came on.  Then I'd be totally stoked and owning the place.  I'm picturing kinda like this....

Anyhoo.....this is what I did....

I used one of my very favourite Tiddly Inks digis.  I think I've coloured this one at least once every Christmas for the past at least eight years.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Under Pressure! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and with her last Queen inspired theme she's saying, "Under Pressure!" which means she would like to see those last minute Christmas/winter holiday makes.

This is what I did.....

I found this Santa boy (from Tiddly Inks) already all coloured up so it made for a quick card.  And, since we're down to the wire with Christmas only five days away, it was an easy way to add another card to the stash.  (:

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Hot, Hot Drinks! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

I've got hosting duties and the challenge is, "Hot, Hot Drinks!" so let's see those projects about coffee, tea, toddies, hot chocolate and all those other served-warm drinks.

This is what I did....

I used one of my most favourite digis, a Wryn from Tiddly Inks.  I think I've coloured her up for Christmas cards for at least the last five years.  As you can see, she's holding a hot chocolate, and I've got some hot drinks patterned paper going on too.

Fall Colours! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Fall Colours!" and I think we all know what that means.

I tell ya, autumn here in midwestern Ontario has been GORGEOUS.  I can't even remember when it has last rained and the temps have been consistently in the mid to high 20s (Celsius) with very little wind.  Average temps this time of year are 13ºC as highs with 5ºC for lows.  For most of September, our low temps have been higher than our average high temperature.  Sincerely hoping we don't pay for this with a wicked winter!

But, you didn't pop by to hear me brag about our beautiful weather, you came to see what I made.  I challenged myself to do something a bit unusual for a fall colours challenge and I made a.....

....wedding card!  I used mostly golds/yellows, terracotta, black, and browns on this make with a tiny bit of green and and grey.  And there you have it, a card using fall colours that's not about fall.  Unless, it gets used as a card for an autumn wedding.  Then it'll be both!  (:  Digi is a favourite of mine from Tiddly Inks.

Multipurpose! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to host the challenge and it's all about those multipurpose projects.  You know, the kind of cards (or non-cards) that can be used for any occasion.

This is what I did.....

I was looking through some of my supplies and I found this cutie already printed and cut out from back when I used to always colour on textured cardstock and thought Wryn (from Tiddly Inks) would work perfectly for this challenge.  So, coloured her up I did.

Hey, have you ever got your photos taken of a make, downloaded that photo, just about started editing that photo, and realize that you didn't even finish your card?  Coz, that's just what happened to me.  In fact, I seriously considered just using that photo and rolling with it.....but since I'm stuck waiting on an email in order to work on what I need to work on, I didn't let myself away with it.  So, added the button and Stickles I did.  (And, for the record, I fixed the button after I saw this photo.)

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Play the Game! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Play the Game!" which means she wants to see projects that have to do with games.....(and hopefully), and/or sports.

This is what I did......

Not much of a golfer myself.....mostly because I'm not that good at it.  My middlest golfs though.  I keep threatening to come with him, but he keeps telling me he won't play Best Ball so it's probably a good idea I stay home.  (:

Digi is from Tiddly Inks.  I made the sentiment in Canva.

Glitz, Glitter, Gleam, Glow! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Glitz, Glitter, Gleam & Glow!" which just means that I want to see those projects that have glitter or foiling or bling or have lights/lamps/candles etc. or even a make that's just really ritzy.  Lots of options there!

Now, this would be the perfect theme for which to make a Christmas creation, right?  Welp, I did something different.....

.....a wedding card!  As you can see, I've got patterned paper with a foiled design, a couple of glittery hearts, and a Stickles-over-fun-foam ampersand.  I also employed a (successful, imo) trick to hide the fact that I did not have quiiiite enough of that patterned paper to cover my whole card front.  Just added some black cardstock to the back of the one piece to make it just that little bit bigger.  And, it looks like I was being oh so fancy with my background.

Image is from Tiddly Inks.  This is a big go-to of mine for wedding cards.  I was considering trying to colour pleats into the dress, but I've never really been that good at that, so I just left the dress as is.  Figured a little bland is a much better look than glaringly wrong.  Ha, that could be my life motto.  (:

Let's Eat! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Let's Eat!" (something you've never had to tell me twice) which means she'd like to see edibles (had to *wink*) on your project.

This is what I did.....

...I made a big ole doughnut card!  And yes, I'm calling it a doughnut card, even though the digis (doughnut from Tiddly Inks and sentiment from Create With TLC) use the spelling donut.  Because, if you're outside the USA (which I am), they are doughnuts, not donuts.  Unless you're referring to the Tim Hortons variety.  Then they're just called "F@#k, why did I waste calories on this?".

:)

Stitching Sensations! @ Little Red Wagon (And Craft Area Reveal)

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Stitching Sensations!" which just means that I want to see stitching on your project.  So many ways you could get that sewing on there....die cut, faux, actual machine or hand stitching, even patterned paper with stitches on it.

I do love stitching on cards.  Back some time ago I used to almost always machine wonky stitch on my cards.  While I still do love that look, my sewing machine has been pretty much unused since stitched dies starting coming out.  So much easier, so much quicker, and so much less bulk!  Since I don't have as much time to craft these days, I don't think I'd have any stitching on my makes if it wasn't for dies.

Anyhoo, this is what I did....

As you can see, I've used a couple of stitched square dies and a stitched tag.  Originally, I had planned on using a stitched snowflake in the upper right corner there, but it turns out I don't have any stitched snowflakes....or if I do, I couldn't find them.  I'm actually glad, I do like the tag/twine/bells combo.  Digi is from Tiddly Inks and is one of my faves.  I think I've done a least one Christmas card with this image for many, many years now.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

So, that was the card portion of our post....on to the craft area part!  I don't know if any of you will remember this, but I've been in the process of redoing my craft area/office since late December when my daughter and I painted the room.  (Gawd, it's been, like, seven months and I still make an awful ugly face when I think about painting it.  Safe to say I still hate painting.)  Efforts to get my craft area glam-up done were severely hampered by supply chain issues with getting the furniture and just a lack of time for me to get everything in place.  I was going to wait until I had everything 'just so' before sharing but I've come to realize that could possibly be never.  In truth, I could have taken photos a few weeks ago but my desk was absolutely piled with supplies from quick-'n'-dirty craft sessions.  On the weekend I finally got my desk cleared and snapped some photos before I did any crafting...though glancing over, it's actually not too bad right now.  Shocker.

Okay, so here are the before pics, you'll notice I didn't bother to tidy up before taking these....

And this is what it was turned into....

Had to include that closer up of my desk as it really never looks that clean.  Yeah, so aside from adding some more things to the pegboard, figuring out where I want to put some of the stuff that's just shoved into the cubbies for now, and hanging a couple of pictures, that's my craft area sorted.  Needless to say, I have way more room and storage options....and a lot less found-at-the-side-of-the-road-with-a-free-sign-on-it desks.

One thing I want to point out, see that cube with the circle in it on the bottom row of the shelving unit?  It's actually a cat bed, that's made to fit in this storage system.  My older cat, Daisy, doesn't want anything to do with it, but my younger cat, Ollie, likes to nap in there when I craft.  It's looks very cute when he's snuggled up in there.  (:

So, that's pretty much that.  Really wish I could stay and craft today but it's off to work I go.  To the office where there's something wrong with the temperature controls and it's usually about 15ºC in there.  One of these days I'm just gonna break down and wear socks with my sandals.  Hey, if the 45 and up male crowd can manage to get away with black almost-to-their-knees socks with shorts, I could get away with short socks with sandals, couldn't I?  You're right.....I won't do it.  (:

Be My Love! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Be My Love!" which means she wants to see, you guessed it, Valentine's Day makes.

Ah, Valentine's Day.  Used to be it wasn't a favourite occasion of mine.  But, in recent years, I've mellowed a bit.  I don't find it as retch-worthy as I used to.  I'm not sure what it is.  Is it because I feel like the world could use more love?  Is it because I'm just not as jaded as I used to be?  Is it because as my kids get older, I get to see relationships at their beginnings, and remember how beautiful companionship can be?

Ha, naw.  I'm just fooling with you.  I like Valentine's Day more now because a few years ago, I decided that I could forever be the sweetheart of Zesty Cheese Doritos, and we've spent every Valentine's together since.

So, know what?  I'm gonna dedicate this card to Zesty Cheese Doritos.  Coz they certainly do.....

Digi is from Tiddly Inks.  It's been too long since I've coloured up Wryn.  I love her, she's so adorable.  (And, there's a whole line of Wryn stamps, I'm betting there's one for the exact occasion you need to make a card for.)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and, as you might remember, she's taking us on a journey through the 80s, using inspiration from that decade to set themes.  This week it's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!" which means she wants to see those feminine projects.  *she just wanna, she just wanna...*

This is what I did....

I'm not overly pleased with the colours I used for this.  My printer was being a poopoohead and printed the image (from Tiddly Inks) with some reddish coloured lines that were most visible in the hair, so I then decided to colour the hair an auburn colour.  I felt that limited my choices for Wryn's outfit which is why I ended up doing blue and green....with a splash of pink.  Not thrilled with how I did my sentiment really either.  Oh well, sometimes it is what it is.

Under the Sea! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Under the Sea!" which just means that she'd like to see those ocean themed projects.

Now, this week got away from me a little bit so I'm gonna post a throwback make.....

Made this back in 2016.  I obviously don't make too many Under the Sea cards.  It's a hair get card....remember those?  Digi is from Tiddly Inks and if you want to see the original post, you can click here.

GDT @ 613 Avenue Create!

Hey, look!  It's me with a very rare non-Wednesday, non-Little Red Wagon post!  I was invited to be a Guest Design Team member for the August challenge over at.....

And, I happily accepted!

The challenge there is always Anything Goes with an optional twist.  This month the optional twist is a number of lovely fall palettes.  I chose this one....

Aren't those colours awesome!  Now I didn't go with a fall card, I decided to do this instead.....

Okay, my blue is way more like black but let's just pretend that's a computer screen issue and not a JanR-just-couldn't-colour-the-suit-blue issue.  Image is from Tiddly Inks.  This is totally my go-to image for wedding cards.  It's so lovely, and not hard to colour at all.  (Which is definitely something I look for in stamps!)

With the challenge being Anything Goes, you have no excuse not to join in!  Or, pop on over to 613 Avenue Create and check out the Palette photo for inspiration...and don't forget to check out the fabulous projects the DT made too!
