Q is for Quote @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to take us through the alphabet with this week's challenge being "Q is for Quote" which means she wants to see those projects that have an included quote.

This is what I did....

Some of you probably recognize those lines from the story 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.  I added it in Canvas to this digi from PlumLovedArt.

I tell ya, I hit this card layout again and again and again.  I do try to shake it up from time to time but I admit I often fall back into that ole "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" frame of mind.  Oh well.  (:

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Card Plus @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying "Card Plus" which means she would like to see an envelope with your card.

This is what I did....

I made this sentiment in Canva, foiled it and then paired it with a lot of mirror cardstock.....and managed to get the reflection of my hand and arm in the photo too.

Friend of Mine @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm going with "Friend of Mine" which means I want to see those projects that celebrate friendship or are for a friend.

This is what I did....

I used an image from Melonheadz Illustrating and made a lil bathroom scene.  Originally, the sentiment was just a strip of paper running across the top but I thought it might be cool to make it look like a picture on the wall, so I made a graphic in Canva and that was that.  I know this style of board and batten isn't really it anymore, but my girl here is obviously going through somethin' so we're not going to hound her about updating her walls.

"Friend of Mine" is a song from the Cornwall (Ontario) band, Barstool Prophets.  It peaked at number 34 on the Canadian charts in 1998.  Not a lot about the song out there on the interweb, it's sung in the first person and it's about checking in on a friend of the past.  The music is upbeat, which hides what might be a darker theme....depending on how you interpret it.

Just the Way You Are @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing with Billy Joel songs with this week being, "Just the Way You Are" meaning she would like to see those projects celebrating someone.  Pretty easy that one - you could do almost any occasion - wedding, new baby, anniversary, friendship, Valentine's Day, graduation, congratulations etc. etc. etc. Or you could do what I did....

....and go with a birthday card.  This card is for my middlest and I even got the word celebrate on there to be an Extra Good DT Member.  (:  Image is from Binary Bazar on Etsy.  I made the sentiment in Canva but got the inspiration from a stamp set I picked up at ScrapFest last year....but it wasn't the right size for the right sized balloon.  That's one of the things I love about digis/computer generated sentiments - they're the right size every time.  (Except when you print them out at the wrong size.  Which is what I did on the first printing of the bear.  But I can't fault the digi for that.  (: )

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Tea. Earl Grey. Hot. @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Tea.  Earl Grey.  Hot." which means I want to see those makes that include hot drinks.

This is what I did....

Sentiment was made in Canva.  I'd like to point out that the seam binding, while maybe doesn't match exaaaaaaactly with the pink on the card, is definitely a lot less peach than it looks in the photo.

G is for Gentleman! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to work her way through the alphabet and she's saying, "G is for Gentleman!" meaning she wants to see those masculine makes.

This is what I did.....

I went with this amazing digi from Poppy Lane Digital (whose Etsy shop appears to be closed ): ) and made a birthday card.  I absolutely love this style of digi stamp.  Sentiment was made in Canva.

I need to make a very important announcement.  Even though the sentiment states "When life sends you a birthday...eat cake!" I would like to point out that anytime life sends you anything is an appropriate time to eat cake.  Got sent an email?  Cake.  Got sent to the 'next available agent'?  Cake.  Got sent a package from Amazon?  Well, hopefully it's cake, because cake.  I rest my case.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Circle of Life @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing with Elton John themed challenges and she's saying (singing), "Circle of Life" which means she would like to see a circle or circles on your project.

This is what I did.....

Let's see, I've got a circle wreath on a stitched die cut circle on a scalloped circle with some pearls which are also circles.  And, if you want to get really technical, there are a lot of dots on both the wreath and the patterned paper which could also count as circles, so I think I'm covered.  Digi was made in Canva.

Set a Course...For Home @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Set a Course...For Home" which means I would like to see projects that have any kind of building on them.

This is what I did....

I made this up in Canva...except for the lil hearts, they are stamped with an old little wooden stamp I picked up from somewhere and have had forever.  Let me tell you, was I ever holding my breath when I did the stamping as I didn't think of doing it until the entire card was put together.  Add that to the fact that my ink pads are mostly cheapies I've gotten here or there and they are fairly ancient (as far as ink pads go) and since it was a wooden stamp, I couldn't use my Misti.  (I know, I probably could have pried the stamp off the block, but I also don't really have anything that would make the stamp stick to the Misti).....anyhoo, that's a lot of explanation for something that actually turned out almost perfectly.  (Just don't look too closely at the green heart.)

Florals @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Florals!" which means she wants to see flowers on your project.

I struggled with this one a bit until I remembered I wanted to make a birthday card and then came up with this....

Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo that shows that the sentiment is foiled.  I mean foiled as in using toner ink, foil and a laminator, not foiled as in thwarted.  (:  I made the sentiment myself in Canva.  A big tulle bow and a very blingy button and that's that.

Use Your NBUS! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Use Your NBUS!" which means she wants to see your never before used schtuff.  I bet we all have some of that!

This is what I did.....

I used a new die to make the door.  Well, the wood textured part of the door, that is.  It is possible that the patterned paper is NBUS too......I did get a few of them at Scrapfest last year.....and they were kinda tucked away so I forgot about them until I found them when I made this card.  Wreath image is from Canva.

Trick or Treat! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Treat or Treat!" which means that she would like to see those Halloween creations.

I'm not in the need of Halloween cards anymore so I decided to make.....

...a sign instead.  I combined clip art and the word BRAINSSSSSS in Canva, made the rest of the sentiment in Word, printed everything on patterned paper and then mounted it all on cardboard for a spooky (and a smidge insulting (: ) Halloween decor item.

Layer Upon Layer! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Layer Upon Layer!" which just means I want to see those projects with multiple layers.  So, pile it on!

I decided I would do a card type that definitely needs lots of layers.....

.....a shaker card!  I do love shaker cards.  So, let's see....how many layers....well, if you count the foam tape and sequins/chunky glitter/beads as layers (which I am, but I'm not counting the Scor-Tape, tape runner or glue adhesives), from the card base bottom to the gold star on top, it's 10 layers.  Told you shaker cards needed lots of layers.  (:

It's hard to tell in this picture, but the patterned paper in the shaker element is the same as the patterned paper on top of the card base, except the stars are gold.  I also foiled the word 'WONDER' in gold.  Sentiment was made by me in Canva.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Bicycle Race! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing with her inspired by Queen's songs themes and she's saying "Bicycle Race!" which means she wants to see projects featuring transportation.  Vroooom, vrooom....

I went a little outside the box with this one and did this....

A buggy is certainly transportation for a baby, right?  I know this photo is on a bit of a weird angle, but it does show off that I foiled the sentiment, which is why I used it.  I had originally planned to go with green or yellow so I could use this for any baby but once I got the image printed out, it screamed pink to me, so pink is what I went with.  I know (and agree) we should be well over the whole colour/gender issue by now but, unfortunately, we're not.  ):

Boys Will Be Boys! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Boys Will Be Boys!" which means she wants to see those masculine projects.

This is what I did....

Believe it or not, this is actually a wedding card.  More specifically, it's a wedding card for my oldest and my daughter-in-law.  Their wedding was this past Saturday.  We lucked out with weather, it was a beautiful day, and a beautiful wedding and everything went according to plan.  For those who might not know.....we own a trucking company and my oldest (and middlest too) drive a transport truck, which is why I thought this would be a fitting card for the newlyweds.  I made the sign in Canva and used a clip art roadway.  The rest are die cuts.

And here's a photo of the lovely couple....

Brrrr...It's Cold Over Here! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Brrr...It's Cold Over Here!" because, as a New Zealander, she's having winter right now and she wants to see those cool colours.  So, think blues, greens purples etc.

This is what I did...

I went with a Christmas card, in greens and blues.  Image is from Canva.  I overlayed three of the same wreath, in three different green colours.  I did add some more colour with my trusty pencils too.  Put on lots of sparkly enamel dots because they're awesome.  Decided to add two bows, coz I didn't want to have too plain a card when it's instructing people to "Deck the halls".  Sentiment was printed from Word.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Bow For Bows! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Bow For Bows!" which means I want to see a bow on your project.

This is what I did.....

Made this for my youngest, she's graduating high school this year.  In September she's off to Western University to start her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Western was her first pick, so she was very excited when she was accepted.  Her best friend is also going to Western (for Engineering) so they are planning to room together.  There's actually a number of people she knows who attend Western so she won't be all by her lonesome.  And, it's only about a two hour drive from home, so that's good too.

Now, this might look like your standard card but.....

I foiled all over it - ha!  I know I'm late to the foiling game, but I do love it.  I just wish it would show itself off more, instead of having to tilt the card to see it.  Her high school's colours are blue and grey so that's what I went with.  I made the sentiment in Canva.

I had a bit of difficulty making this card since my craft desk is an absolute s@#tshow right at the moment as I was doing a lot of prep for Gala, the major fundraiser for the hospital foundation I work at (and I didn't have the time to clean it up).  Tons of work to put Gala together, not gonna lie, I'm happy it's over.  It's a very fancy night, catered food, live & silent auctions, mini fundraisers, live music and stuff like that.  Very elegant and chic. My favourite part of the whole night wasn't the food or seeing all the dresses and suits people were wearing or the excitement of seeing all the money raised for the hospital....my favourite part happened when I got to chat with someone I used to work with.  And the conversation went exactly like this....

Him:  Hey, so good to see you!  Are we doing hugs?
Me:  Of course, we are!
Him:  You've met my wife before, haven't you?
Me:  I believe I have.  How are you?
Her:  Great, thanks.  Wonderful night this is.
Me:  Yes, it's turning out quite well!  Hey, did you know that (my oldest) and his fiancée live on the same street as you?
Him:  Oh, what's their street number?
Her:  PArDoN mE?!?
Me:  Ummm....(my oldest) and (my future dil) live down the street....from....you?
Her:  ArE yOu SeRiOuS?
Me:  uhhhhhhhh
Her:  There is no way you have a son old enough to be getting married.  I'd put you at about 32.
Me:  *throwing my arm around her*  HAS EVERYONE MET MY NEW BEST FRIEND?

Highlight of this 48 1/2 year old's night.

Getting Warmer! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Getting Warmer!" which means she would like to see those creations using warm colours - think reds, yellow, oranges etc.

This is what I did....

As you can see, I stuck with mostly warm colours.....and a little bit of white and skin tone too.  Digi is from Pernilla Nilsson and I made the sentiment in, you guessed it, Canva.
