Use A Stamp! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's going easy on us.....she just wants us to use a stamp!

This is what I did.....

I challenged myself to use an actual stamp and not a digi.  This wonderful Santa's beard is from The Cat's Pajamas (now closed ): ).

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Feather, Fur and Fin @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Feather, Fur and Fin" which means I want to see any animal or critter on your make.

This is what I did....

Another tag for the Christmas box.  The stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas, (who are no longer in business ): ).

"Feather, Fur and Fin" is a 2008 song by Danny Michel, who is from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.  It's a commentary, and cautionary tale on how we treat the environment.  To give you a sample, the chorus goes:  "Every little critter | with feather, fur & fin | cried to Mother Nature | to come back for them | for every piece of litter | for every little sin | She cried for all of them | feather, fur & fin."  There is an official video for the song on YouTube, but I found it quite frantic and visually hard to watch, so if you want to hear the song, I would suggest you do so however you listen to music.  Unfortunately, not much has changed since 2008 and so the song is still very relevant today.  Danny Michel has another protest-style song he released in April 2025 called "Northern Star" which very nicely captured how most Canadians were feeling at that time, as well as paying hommage to past protest songs and artists.  Song title is linked to the YouTube video is you'd like to experience it for yourself.

K is for Keep It Simple @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to take us through the alphabet with "K is for Keep It Simple" which means she wants to see those cas makes.

This is what I did....

Yeppers, it's another tag.  Actually, it's another tag on a tag on a tag but who's counting?  The dove stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas which has sadly closed.  The sentiment stamp, the "olive branch" (which I cut from a fuzzy sheet of....felt?....let's say felt, I got from the dollar store ages ago) die and the small tag were all picked up at a crafty garage sale.  Larger tags are from Your Next Stamp, which has also sadly closed.

This is what I did.....

I used a digi from The Cat's Pajamas, which sadly, is no longer in business.  ):

Be Krafty! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Be Krafty!" which means she would like to see kraft paper on our projects.

This is what I did.....

I used to use kraft cardstock a lot.....but for quite some time I haven't found kraft paper I really like.  I really like the top kraft paper (that I embossed) but I'm down to scraps, which is why the card base is a completely different shade of kraft that I'm not very fond of.  Digi is from The Cat's Pajamas, which has closed.  ):  Tag is a digi from LOTV.

Start Those Easter Projects! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she wants to see those Easter projects.  Now, haven't done much papercrafting for Easter since my kiddos were little, so I took this opportunity to make this....

I bought this set from The Cat's Pajamas right before it closed ( ): ) because I've always loved it but never bought it because I also haven't really done any Halloween papercrafting since my kids were....well, kids.  So, I didn't feel I would ever use it.  Turns out I did use it - ha!  Maybe if I display this card prominently I'll feel guilty enough to not eat too much chocolate bunny at Easter time.  Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - I already know it'll fail.

Teddy Bears! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Teddy Bears!" which means she'd like to see a bear, teddy or not, on your creation.

This is what I did....

Digi is from The Cat's Pajamas which has closed.  ):  The patterned paper is actually 12x12 scrapbook paper, which I don't buy unless it's from the reduced section which I then use for envelopes.  I couldn't resist the black and white colours though, so into my cart it went.

The Power of Love @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Shani's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "The Power of Love" which means she'd like to see those projects all about luuuuuuuuurrrrve.  (:

This is what I did.....

As you can see, this bear (and sentiment) from The Cat's Pajamas is all about love!  And, since this was a clear stamp set, I even embossed the sentiment.  I do love the look of embossed sentiments but I find you've got to use a really good quality stamp to get it to look good/work right.  I'va always found The Cat's Pajamas stamps are excellent, so I emboss the sentiment whenever I can.....as long as I'm not deciding to be lazy, that is.  (:

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Simply Clean & Simple! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's yours truly's turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Simply Clean & Simple!" which means, you guessed it, I want to see those cas cards.

First of all, I need to call someone out.  Looking at you here, Mother Nature.  If you notice, MN, I didn't post a Christmas make last week.  It was a birthday make.  So, why then, did you think it would be okay to SNOW on and off all day yesterday with temps of 1ºC, on the SECOND DAY OF MAY?  Huh?  Not nice.

Now that that's outta the way, here's my card.....

As you can see, I've got a lot of white space on there to make it cas.  And, it's just empty space, MN, NOT SNOW.

Stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas.  I used a precut card for this one, and it has more tooth than the cardstock I normally use for stamps/digis.  I kinda like the rough look of it, so it's working for me.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Make It Move! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Make It Move!" which means she wants to see those projects that have moving elements....so think shakers, pieces that slide, wobble, rock or even....

....spin!  Yeppers, I made a spinner card, a Z fold spinner card, something that I've wanted to make for quite some time.

Question for all my fellow crafters.....Have you ever had a project go so wrong that you just had to sit there for a minute or two and silently contemplate the entire meaning of life?  Like, you're seriously going back over your entire existence to figure out what happened in your past to try and piece together how the card you attempted to make could go so badly?  Welp, that was me with this card.  My first go is still on my desk, in a very prominent position, just in case I ever decide to dip my toes into the Land of Narcissism.  Coz it'll snap me back right fast.  I did everything wrong that I could possibly do wrong measuring, die cutting and more, including completely taping the front of the card to itself (so the card had only one fold instead of two, if that helps you picture it).  The only thing I managed to save from the first attempt was the embossed Santa beard (from The Cat's Pajamas).  And, sure, I managed to save it, but then realized that when you attempt to make a spinner with a stamp like this, the two images don't line up when placed back to back.

The second go obviously went better.  Buuuuuuut, I will admit, I've been creative with the photo to hide some of the flaws.  And I don't know WHY I didn't realize this.....I mean it's so punch-in-the-face obvious now....but a spinner card only spins once by itself.  Then you gotta wind it up again.  So, if you're planning on giving the card without an envelope, you have to make sure the card stays closed in order for the spinning to happen.  And, as you can see by the photo, this card does not stay shut.  That means I'm gonna have to set something on it in order for it to stay....OMFG.  I just realized.  If I had put that wooden embellishment over about an inch or so (where it might not look as good aesthetically) I could have used it as a closure to keep the card closed.  GAK!  Why didn't I think of that?!?!

Excuse me, I'm going back to my craft desk to again sit silently for a minute or two and contemplate my future as a cardmaker.

Would love to see you join us this week.  And, if you'd like more inspiration, from some lovely women who aren't having crises of conscience, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Save Me From April Showers! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's Doni's (who has come back to the DT - yay!!) turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Save Me From April Showers!" which means she would like to see an umbrella on your project.  Perfect for our weather 'round here in midwestern Ontario....and you need a warm coat too!

This is what I did....

....yep, I did something out of the ordinary for me.....I made a one layer card!  I know, I know...teeeeechnicaaaaaally, there is a bit of patterned paper as well as a lil glitter fun foam heart, so it's really not completely one layer.....but I'm gonna call it one layer anyway.  So there.  (:

It's also something different for me because those stamps....they're not digis, they're clear stamps.  I KNOW!  They're from The Cat's Pajamas, and you gotta guess something.  Guess how many times I had to stamp the bear image and the sentiment to get that nice clean, all filled in look.  One time!  I KNOW!  Had it in my Misti and was just going to automatically ink up the stamps for a second go-round when I realized I didn't need to.  I don't know about you, but I find that really rare.  Granted, most of my clear stamps are cheapies, both in price and quality, so maybe one-and-done stamping happens more often than I realize.  I scored a lot of The Cat's Pajamas stamps when they made the switch to digi, I should really get to inking them up....especially when it's this easy.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Stripes Or Dots! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying "Stripes or Dots!" which just means that she wants to see either or both on your project.

This is what I did....

As you can see, I have no shortage of dots on this card!  I've also managed some stripes on the paper pieced gift.  Digi is from The Cat's Pajamas.....and right now they have a 25% off sale until December 25th.

Oh, and one quick tip....I think I've mentioned this before but in case I haven't....when paper piecing something that's being held like this, don't even bother cutting around the hands.  Just print your image again and then paper piece the hands over the gift, it looks a lot more natural.  I'll crop the image to just the hands before I print to save ink and paper.  Just be sure to colour the hands before fussy cutting.  Much easier that way!

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

P.S.  I hope those of you who celebrate upcoming holidays are all ready for them.  I remember in past years I'd be scrambling like crazy right about now trying to get everything done before Christmas.  This year has been much better.  Not only am I working less hours, I told my clan that I would no longer be buying Christmas gifts and putting their names on them as From:, they had to buying their own gifts for giving.  I told my youngest (16 years old) that I would chip in on the money end for her, but that was it.  So, that meant less shopping as well as less wrapping, and being all ready (except for making some triple chocolate Nanaimo bars) by the 21st.  It's much better this way!!

Season's Greeting to you all, and thank you, Dear Readers, for visiting.  Wishing you all a very happy and crafty 2022.

Me On a Monday....Whaaaaaaat?

Yup, I've got an non-Little Red Wagon post!  Turns out I've managed to find a smidge more time this year 'round the holidays so I made something non-challenge related.  Okay, that's a bit misleading.  Usually, if I make something that isn't specifically for a Little Red Wagon challenge I'll hoard it to see if it can be used for an upcoming challenge, and therefore won't post it on my blog.  (I know I'm not the only one who does stuff like that.  (: )  But, I surprised myself and made something that actually impressed me.  And, I don't often impress myself.  Well, I sometimes do, but it's rarely for something one should be impressed about, it's more like about how much food I managed to eat at a buffet restaurant or what new interesting combination of curse words I put together in a situation that calls for swears.

Nope, I managed to impress myself with a crafty make.  And it's not a card.  Well, it is a card, but not just a card.  Anyhoo, I'll get on with the showing of it.  So, here is the outside.....

And here's a short video to show you what happens when it's opened.....

(Shout out to my daughter for helping out with the cinematography....wish I would have told her to record in landscape though....but to be honest, I figured she'd know more about what to do than I would!  (: )

Haha - bam!  It's a $20 bill in yo' face!  What's more is that I figured out the measurements all by myself because I wanted to use my Taylored Expressions lil bag die that I bought aaaggggeeees ago, and definitely have not been using much.  But the real impressive part (and why I'm showering myself with accolades) is that it all worked out on the first go and I didn't have to remeasure or redo or anything, and that, my friend, is nothing short of miraculous here at Huh. So This Is a Blog.

Sentiment stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas.  Now, as some of you probably already know, The Cat's Pajamas have pivoted and are now strictly digi stamps (yay, digis!!) and cut files but I just gotta say, their clear stamps are top-notch.  Added a lil bit of colour and a little bit of Stickles, and this is all ready to go in my mailbox as a gift to out mail carrier.  Fun fact, I actually was a rural mail carrier back, almost 21 years ago now, and quit the job when my kids were born.  Our current mail carrier is the person I trained for the job, so she's been doing it for 21 years come January 1st!  So, she certainly deserves a little Christmas present.

Welp, that's all I got.  Feels kinda weird not to sign off with my usual, "check out what The Girlfriends have done".  But, hey, if you've haven't seen what they've done this week, do check them out.  They are all very talented, and definitely deserve some love.  (:

Just Because! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Just Because" which means that she wants to see those project that aren't for any special occasion or holiday.  Lots of things you could do with that!

This is what I did.....

I figure anyone can use a bear hug at any time, right?  This card took forever to come to fruition.  It went through so many different variants I'm surprised it wasn't offered a cameo on season 2 of Loki.  But, I did get it there in the end, and I do like how it turned out.  Stamp is from The Cat's Pajamas.  And if you're looking to score some wonderful stamps, dies or stencils at 70% off, go check out their shop.  They are moving to strictly digis so everything there is on super-sale until August 7th.

Make It CAS! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I want you to "Make It CAS!".  So, let's see those projects with lots of space, little layers and lacking embellishments.

This is what I did.....

Yup, this card is basically a sibling to last weeks card...despite the fact that (because work forced me to) I have indeed changed the ink cartridge in my printer.  Got dies from a mix of companies on there....the sentiment is from Stamplorations, the gnome/elf is from The Cat's Pajamas and the glasses are from Taylored Expressions.

Let me tell you my friends.....if you're looking to make something more the stuff of nightmares-y, try adding googly eyes to an elf like this.  It goes from sweet lil toy-making sprite to horrifying evil-plotting minion real quick.  Don't believe me?  Well.....

There's obviously a reason why these gnomes are always pictured with their hats down over their eyes.

Use A Stencil @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Use A Stencil" because she wants to torture me which means that she wants to see those projects that you've used a stencil on.

Okay, can we just talk a moment about my complete lack of Stencil Game? Well actually, my complete and utter lack of ability to use ink for anything other than inking up a stamp. Like no blending, smooshing, spreading, stencilling, brushing, edging or anything else that involves getting ink onto paper without it being transferred there from a stamp. I've tried the Tim Holtz blenders, blender brushes, makeup sponges, direct from the ink pad and it all looks like it's been applied by an emu with a drinking problem. I've pretty much given up trying. Just thought I'd get that out there so you know, that I know, how weak my offering is for this challenge....

Just in case it's not obvious (yeah, it's not), those are supposed to be snowflakes, from a snowflake stencil, behind the elves.  If you look close enough, you can actually see where I managed to ink off the side of the stencil - d'oh!

I decided to try an ever-so-popular-right-now slimline card.  Thought it would work well with this design.  Using this patterned paper for it turned out to be an excellent idea as I could line up the circles with no measuring needed.  It was just luck that this was one of the few pieces of 12x12 Christmas patterned paper I had (from 10 years ago when I first forayed into papercrafting and I bought scrapbook sized paper rather than 6x6 paper pads) that were the colours I was going for.  I should say too, the photo turned the white at top yellow....it's actually the colour near the bottom of the card.  If I get a chance I might take a new photo....no time this a.m. though!

Those cute lil elves are from The Cat's Pajamas and the sentiment is from Digistamp Boutique (closed).  It almost looks like it's a heat embossed sentiment, doesn't it?  Though, if you know me, you'll know it not because it doesn't have telltale flecks of stray embossing powder (despite using an Embossing Buddy).  But, my heat embossing skill definitely does beat out my stencilling attempts, for sure.

Why don't you give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have created.
