I bought this set from The Cat's Pajamas right before it closed ( ): ) because I've always loved it but never bought it because I also haven't really done any Halloween papercrafting since my kids were....well, kids.  So, I didn't feel I would ever use it.  Turns out I did use it - ha!  Maybe if I display this card prominently I'll feel guilty enough to not eat too much chocolate bunny at Easter time.  Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - I already know it'll fail.

Easy Peasy! @ Little Red Wagon

Now, when I do cas cards, I tend to go super-duper cas.  And this is what I came up with....

I really should have taken the photo with a coloured background.  Still, you get the picture.  (Haha, see what I did there?)  I don't make many one layer cards.....and yes, technically, that lil red sparkly (except not being sparkly in the photo) enamel dot should probably be considered an extra layer, if counting it....which I'm not.  (:  Digi is from Laura Inguz on Etsy.  The card is one of those blank ones you can buy in a pack from Michaels, and I must say, the rough tooth of it worked well with this image.

I'm Bats About You! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "I'm Bats About You!" which just means that she would like to see a bat on your project.

This is what I did.....

I didn't have any bats digis or the like so I made this graphic in Canva and printed it directly on a card front.  My printer is such a diva....it's really didn't print this well at all.  Here's the original graphic.....

As you can see, there's various shades of black and the font is kinda cool.  I didn't bother to reprimand my printer though.  Along with being a diva, it's also not above holding a grudge.  So I just cast dirty looks at it when it's in standby mode.

Save Me From April Showers! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's Doni's (who has come back to the DT - yay!!) turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Save Me From April Showers!" which means she would like to see an umbrella on your project.  Perfect for our weather 'round here in midwestern Ontario....and you need a warm coat too!

This is what I did....

....yep, I did something out of the ordinary for me.....I made a one layer card!  I know, I know...teeeeechnicaaaaaally, there is a bit of patterned paper as well as a lil glitter fun foam heart, so it's really not completely one layer.....but I'm gonna call it one layer anyway.  So there.  (:

It's also something different for me because those stamps....they're not digis, they're clear stamps.  I KNOW!  They're from The Cat's Pajamas, and you gotta guess something.  Guess how many times I had to stamp the bear image and the sentiment to get that nice clean, all filled in look.  One time!  I KNOW!  Had it in my Misti and was just going to automatically ink up the stamps for a second go-round when I realized I didn't need to.  I don't know about you, but I find that really rare.  Granted, most of my clear stamps are cheapies, both in price and quality, so maybe one-and-done stamping happens more often than I realize.  I scored a lot of The Cat's Pajamas stamps when they made the switch to digi, I should really get to inking them up....especially when it's this easy.

This is what I did.....

Not exactly thrilled with this photo but it was the best of the bunch.  In hindsight, I should have went with a different background than white, that might have done the trick.  Also, now that I look at it, I wish I would have taken the time to line up the sentiment in Word so I could have printed it directly on the card front.  Oh well.  One thing I'm not regretting is that image.  That cat is the sweetest!  I've had it for years, not sure where it's from because it's from back in the day before I named files with the artist's name.  And, I'll never, ever regret a punny sentiment, of course!

Mid-Way To Christmas @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Chrissy turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Mid-Way To Christmas" which just means that she wants to see those Christmas projects!

Today it was about 38ºC with the humidex so I could use some winter vibes....Chrissy, on the other hand, was saying it looked like it was thinking of snowing (in New Zealand) earlier this week.  Two very opposite ends of the weather spectrum!

Anyhoo, this is what I did.....

Didn't actually go with anything cooling....but we can pretend that all that white cardstock is snow, right?  Did lots of paper piecing with this digi from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.  (Note:  When I popped over to the shop to get the link, I see there's an announcement that the current store is closing.  I'll let those interested head over and read more about that....but, I wanted to let you know that all digis and files are on for $1.00 if you wanna score on that deal!)  Then I just added a pompom on the hat and called 'er done.

This is what I did.....

Do you hear those sirens going off?  Well, they are for me.  For stealing.  Coz I totally ripped off this sentiment from this card made by Rachelle at RedCre8s.  Because it was kinda too brilliant not to.  Speaking of brilliant, make sure you check out that card.  Mine is the No Name, No Frills version of a winter birthday card compared to hers.  Oh wait.  Let's try to be diplomatic here.....Mine is the CAS version of hers.  Sure.  Let's go with that.

Digi is an oldie from Squigglefly, who have long closed up shop.  ):  Die cut presents are.....I think, Taylored Expressions??  To maximize storage space, I often group/package dies by category/theme.  That means I usually do away with the original packaging.  But I do try to keep brands together which is why I'm pretty sure it is Taylored Expressions.  Feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong.

Sunshine! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Sunshine!" which means that she wants to see projects that include the sun or bright yellow. How summery!

This is what I did....

I went super CAS this week out of necessity.  Seeing as I was making Chocolate Delight/Mississippi Mud Pie/I'm Not Going To Call It That Other Name Because. Please. *eye roll* at 10:45pm last night and I still hadn't made anything for the challenge today.  One good thing about making that dessert at that time of night is that your late-night snack can be spoonfuls of chocolate pudding and Cool Whip scraped from bowls and directly into one's mouth.  So, using a clipart sun, computer generated sentiment, a couple of gems and slapping some cardstock underneath it all might be looked at as cheating when it comes to actually creating something.....or it could be looked at as Super CAS At Its Finest.  I'll let you decide.  (:

P.S.  It occurs to me that maybe some of you won't know that name for the aforementioned dessert that I refused to mention.  *sigh*  It's sometimes called Sex In a Pan.....which I think is an absolutely ridiculous name for it.  First of all, it's not that good.  Its main ingredients are instant pudding and Cool Whip.....so while it does the trick, it's not gonna curl anyone's toes (if you know what I mean).  Second of all, my brain always takes that moniker far too literally and it makes me wonder what y'all are doing in the kitchen with your Pyrex.  Finally......my husband's family delights in calling this dessert Sex In a Pan and it was first introduced as such to my children when they were young.  And it went a little something like this....

MIL to Oldest:  Which dessert would you like, sweetie?
Oldest:  I'll take that.  *points at SIAP because, well, he knows better*
MIL:  This one?  What's it called again?  *large gathering of relatives pauses expectantly to see if they can get a 7 year old to say it*  (Cut to me grinding my teeth)
Oldest:  Ummmmm
Middlest (5 yo):  *loudly*  That's Sex In a Pan, Joel.  *proud grin at his excellent remembering while the room explods into laughter*
Youngest (3 yo):  Sex!  *digs into her already dished up piece*
Me:  *under my breath*  Fuuuuuuc........

White Space! @ Little Red Wagon

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying "White (or any other colour) Space!" That means she wants to see those clean cards, with lots of uncluttered, unpatterned space. I love cas cards but I seldom make them so I love it when a challenge makes me - yay!

This is what I did.....

I used a veeeerrrrrry old, picked up at a garage sale (from last year.....or maybe even the year before??) Stamping Bella stamp called Ginger Ketto.  I actually wonder if it might be a pre-Tiddly Ink from Christy.  (If anyone knows for sure, please leave me a comment.  (: )  Makes no difference, I adore her no matter what her lineage.

I did some paper piecing for the outfit....but had a bit of a quandary over what to do about her wings....should I glitter them, colour them, paper piece them with a different paper??  Like, it was really a big brain discussion, I wanted them to be noticeable, but to not be the standout feature of the card.  It went on for quite a bit.....until that little part of my brain....the one that sits way in the back, slumped in a chair, barely paying attention to the ruckus that tends to go on finally spoke up and said....

"Hey, Dumbasses.  That's a bow, not wings."

Oh.  Right.  Same colour as the shirt, it is then.

I actually had the image all done and ready to go without thought to how to put it together on a card.  A perusal through my collection of digi sentiments (this one from Create With TLC) gave me a number of options but I couldn't resist this one as it had a built in line for her to perch on.

After all, seeing as she doesn't have wings she needs to stand on something.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!", which it's really, really not, and if it is in your neck of the wood....well, I'm so, so sorry (unless you're in one of those few places in the southern hemisphere that experiences snow.....but I'm hoping nobody 'round you has got their Christmas decorations up!). So, since it's not looking like Christmas irl, let's make it look that way in Blogland....well in our little corner of it, at least.

Okay, fair warning, my friends....you might want to be sure you're sitting down for this......

IT'S A ONE LAYER CARD! IT'S A FRICKITY-FRACKIN' ONE LAYER CARD!  (Now, I need you to picture me presenting it to you in the same way Will Smith "presents" his family to the media. You know, like this....)

Just so you know, out of the....let's be generous and say 20....or so people who are going to witness this freak of nature, I'm picturing six of you gasping in amazement,  three of you spitting out a beverage in shock, eight of you clapping and nodding, two of you fainting (which is why I told you to sit down....we care about your well-being here at Huh. So This Is A Blog) and one of you giving this post the middle finger because of my ridiculous hubris. Of course, my reaction to it was a dumbfounded string of swear words that ended with ......"Holy f&*kballs, I can't believe that actually worked!".

I'm starting to sound fairly repetitive here but.....I was at a crafty garage sale a little bit ago and picked up a few things.  The snowman are from a Close To My Heart set I got there.  The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp.  And the card base is from a pack of white cards that I bought eons ago.  This would be an excellent card to mass produce.....if I actually needed to mass produce Christmas cards.  I've severely reduced the amount of holiday cards I send....hmmmm....it's probably less than ten, so needing an easy, quick design isn't necessary.  Still,  I might do a couple more of these, for just in case.

Upcycle/Recycle @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and, seeing as it's Learn About Compost Day, she's going with an upcycle/recycle theme. Gotta love when you can be a friend to the environment (even if it's on just a small scale!).

This is what I did.....

Hmmmmm.....not thrilled with that photo but it's a dark, drab day here (again....and again, and again, and again, and again, and again - our weather has been absolutely atrocious) so I'm not able to retake. But, I think you get the idea.

About this card.....first off, that's not a digi.  It's a clear stamp from Dreamerland Crafts.  I adore these stamps, I drool over them every year at ScrapFest but, sadly, I generally refrain from buying them as I find them a tad pricey, especially when compared to digis ($12.95 for a single stamp).  I couldn't resist this one though as it totally reminds me of my oldest (who I've called Fuzzy Bear, from time to time, since he was a wee bear) as he loves eggs and it's his go-to meal if he's making his own supper and for weekend breakfasts....and often lunches.  So, really, I couldn't not buy it.

Secondly....the upcycled/recycled element.  Do you see it?  Check out Chef Bear's hat.  It's actually the baby wipe I used to clean off the stamp when I was done stamping.  Just stamped the hat on a clean spot and cut it out.  So, paper piecing without the paper.....(on the hat anyways, there's obviously also paper pieced paper on the card as well).  And, I saved a bit of something that was destined for the garage.  Hooray for my amazing efforts to help the environment!  (Probably the fact the we recycle, compost etc. does more than my tiny scrap saved but they do say every little bit counts!  (: )

Flower Frenzy @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying "Flower Frenzy!" which means that I want to see a flower or flowers on your project. And, I'm not a much of a stickler....if you've just got one little itsy bitsy, barely seen flower on your make, hey, that all fine and good with me.

This is what I did....

Digi is from Bugaboo Stamps. I just realized.....I've been on a bit of a Bugaboo kick lately......of my last six LRW posts, five have used Bugaboo images. That's a-okay though, Bugaboo is awesome...and it's also some of the very first digis I owned. As a matter of fact, I just did a search of my files and I've got almost.....wait for it......400 Bugaboo digis! Well, they do offer freebies every Friday, and I've been crafting since 2010, and very diligent about snagging those freebies, so that's....*loud gasp*....wait a minute.....that means I must have missed some! Crap!! Especially when you add to that the fact that I've won some and bought some....well, drat, I guess I wasn't as diligent as I thought. Though, maybe, they haven't been offering the Friday Freebie as long as nine years. Yeah, I'm going to go with that. Better thinking that than thinking I missed out!

This is what I did.....

I went cas for this challenge.  I adore this image, it was a colouring book freebie if you can believe it.  I tell ya....I've really gotta splurge on some more die cut words.  I am making too many thank you cards for what I ever use (seeing as I'm almost never needing a thank you card) just because I happen to have some wonderful "thanks" and "thank you" dies.  Now, isn't that crafty laziness in the extreme?  Rather than making a bit of effort and die cutting individual letters for a card that I might be able to use, I just make yet another thank you card to sit in the card bucket pretty much indefinitely.  If anyone has a suggestion on a good die cut word set, please, please, please leave me the name or link in the comments.  As the card says, thanks.  (:

Stick It! @ Little Red Wagon

This is what I did.....

I recently was oh so lucky and won a $50 gift certificate to The Cats Pajamas, which was awesome. And, when I received the stamps, they were awesome. So it was most definitely awesome squared. This stamp is from the This Could Be Vodka set. I probably should have set a better DT example with the washi tape, seeing as it's just that yellow strip.....but that's sometimes how it goes. This just means you guys can easily one-up me when you enter the challenge!

It's Still Friday, Isn't It? - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

Whooooops.....I forgot to post my Fab Friday project on, you know, Friday.  Funny thing is that I actually had my card done, I just forgot to do up a post.  So, since I'm already late, without further ado.....

I made a clean & simple Christmas card using Snowy Wishes & Snowman which is a two digi stamp that you can get for $1.00.  Doesn't get much better than that.

Let's ponder about the criteria of "clean & simple" for a moment, my friends.  Personally, I would say this is a cas card.  It's got a lot of open/empty space, almost no embellishments, minimal layers.  Now, I know there are some out there who would argue that it's not cas as the open space is, in fact, not empty, and certainly not "white" space.  And, you know what?  I get that argument.  Totally.  But I'm still calling this cas.  (:

Back To Basics @ Little Red Wagon

it's Heather's turn to choose the challenge and she wants us to go "Back To Basics" which means that she wants to see clean & simple or one layer cards. One of my favourite challenges!

Now I like me a cas challenge because I love the look of cas cards, but rarely make them unless I have to. It's not that I don't like making them, I actually do like to, it's just that I love patterned paper (and I have, like, so, so much of it) that I tend to reach for it right away. And, imho, you can't really make cas cards with the bold, bright, busy patterns of the paper I like to use.  So, even when I make cards that are minimally layered with no embellishments, I wouldn't consider them cas, due to the extreme lack of any "white" space.  And, that's why I like cas challenges so much.  I get to slap my own hand when it reaches for all that patterned paper and it allows me to come up with something like this.....

Now, as you can see, I did actually use a bit of patterned paper.  I also used a bee die from Paper Smooches.  Sentiment was computer generated.

I certainly don't mean to sound braggy.....but a pun, cas design, and a googly eye?  If this wasn't my own card I'd be swooning.  But, since it is, I'll just mutter "good job" at meself, and feed me some chocolate as a reward.

(Edited to add:  Okay, so the chocolate I thought I had has disappeared.  *shakes fist towards ceiling at sleeping kids*  So, I may or may not have poured a generous amount of chocolate chips from the bag straight into my mouth.  And for the record, I don't even feel guilty about it.)

Clean & Simple @ Tiddly Inks

we're keeping it simple.....clean & simple, that is. So, all you need is to get all minimalistic, grab a Tiddly Inks image, and come join us.

This is what I did....

I used a sweet little crab from Wryn's Beach Accessories. Christy has so many fantabulous main images that I think we can sometimes forget about all the fun little extras she has too.  I love this little crab.  He looks so happy.

This was one of those cards that morphed from something else into what it is now.  Originally I had Sir Snaps-Alot in a polaroid-type frame with that sentiment on it so I could have A DOUBLE PUN but, unfortunately, no matter how hard and long I tried, I could not make a card out of it.  Probably just as well.  If I had pulled off the double pun it would have been such a pivotal moment of awesomeness in my crafting career, I might have had to quit.  You know, because after achieving that, everything else would feel hollow, and I would never be able to top that, ever.  And I've got way too much stash to stop now.
