Candle in the Wind @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing with her Elton John songs theme with this week being "Candle in the Wind" which means she'd like to see any type of light source.

I took the challenge fairly literally and this is what I did....

I went with candle from Pernilla Nilsson.  She used to share her digis on Facebook, freebies and to purchase, but I'm not finding anything through a couple of searches so I'm afraid I can't provide a link, which is unfortunate because I really like her work and would love to share it with you all.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Non-Traditional Winter Holiday! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Non-Traditional Winter Holiday!" which mean I want to see those Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Solstice or other winter holiday projects that have a non-traditional element.  Could be colours, or stamps or embellishments or whatever.  I'm not picky!  (:

This is what I did.....

I used lots of pink and a digi from Pernilla Nilsson, which is a gnome, but I'm saying it's an elf.  So there.  (:

Speaking of non-traditional things.....I don't think there's anyone out there who doesn't know what a rainbow is....

I snapped this earlier this month.  You can see an 18' tall me shadow, walking....what appears to be a dinosaur.  Other than that, pretty normal stuff.  But, have you ever seen....

...a fogbow?  I took this photo five days before the rainbow pic.  I know, kinda hard to see.  Below is an edited photo that shows it a little clearer, however, the colours are a bit off (which is why I didn't just post it).

And for some shameless copy-and-paste explanation:  A fogbow is a rare, white or pale-colored optical phenomenon that occurs when sunlight passes through fog or mist, creating a wide, pale arch. Fogbows are also known as white rainbows, cloudbows, or mistbows.  A fogbow is similar in some respects to a traditional rainbow forming from sunlight interacting with water droplets contained in fog, mist or cloud rather than interacting with raindrops as it does in a classical rainbow. These water droplets are much smaller than raindrops, nearly always less than 0.1 mm in diameter.  The smaller droplets cause light to diffract more, which makes fogbows appear white or with faint traces of color.

Don't say we never teach you anything here at Huh.  So This Is a Blog.  (:

Getting Warmer! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Getting Warmer!" which means she would like to see those creations using warm colours - think reds, yellow, oranges etc.

This is what I did....

As you can see, I stuck with mostly warm colours.....and a little bit of white and skin tone too.  Digi is from Pernilla Nilsson and I made the sentiment in, you guessed it, Canva.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Make Me Laugh! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Make Me Laugh!" which just means that she wants to see those funny projects.

Chrissy's got a great sense of humour, so I knew this would be an easy challenge.  And, while my card certainly isn't lmao funny, I'm hoping it'll a least get a smile....

I thought I'd colour up this fun group of dogs in non-dog colours.  Then all that was left to do was pair it with a fitting computer generated sentiment.  Image is from Pernilla Nilsson.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Wreath! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she wants to see a wreath on your creation....or you could even make a wreath!

This is what I did.....

I went with this wreath from Pernilla Nilsson and made it into a Christmas wreath.  Not really sure if it's intended to be a Christmas wreath, but it did look very much like mistletoe to me.....so I went ahead and coloured it as if it were holly - ha!  I really wanted to go with very-solidly-Christmasy patterned paper but I didn't seem to have any that worked.  I've got, like, over 30 pads of holiday/winter paper pads, you'd think I could have found something.  Still, the paper did come from one of those pads, so technically, it is holiday paper, even if it's not very Christmasy.

Hers! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Hers!" which just means that I want to see those makes for a woman or a girl.  Frilly & fancy or just plain Jane, as long as it's for or features someone female, it's all good.

This is what I did.....

I've made a Mother's Day card using a lovely wreath from Pernilla Nilsson.  I adore this wreath, it's so pretty.  You can't tell from the photo but I've Stickled up all those little dots for a subtle bit of glitter.

Colour Me Happy! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Colour Me Happy!" which just means that I want to see some colouring on your project....using whatever medium you want!

This is what I did.....

I used my trusty Prismacolor pencils to colour up these fun birds from Pernilla Nilsson.  I do love her images...and believe she sells them only through Facebook.  She offers a lot of freebies as well!

Used up some scraps from one of my favourite Christmas paper pads, Countdown to Christmas from Bazzill.  Do they still do patterned paper pads?  I'm gonna have to check.

Spots Or Stripes! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm going with "Spots Or Stripes!" which means I want to see those polka dots or spots or tittles or lines or plaids or stripes or.....all of the above!

This is what I did....

I've got liney patterned paper and a beautiful image from Pernilla Nilsson with lots of little dots, which I Stickled, though it doesn't show up in the photo, of course.  Anyone know why Stickles are so shy?  If I sparkled like that, I sure wouldn't hide.  #Stickles...The Introverted Glitter.

Speaking of shy.....*reaches under desk, rummages around, drags, pulls, tugs with both hands, arms & legs, swears more than once....finally yanks it out, gives it a shake, a nudge, dirty look, The Mom Look, The Just Wait Until We Get Home Mom Look, gestures impatiently....*

"Hi, I'm Mojo.  I'm glad to be back.  Sorry I was away for so long.  I'm going to try to be more present in the future.  Thank you for being understanding."

Yes, Mojo, thanks for coming back.

Why don't you give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up? And, while you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Mamaaaaaaaa! (Mother's Day Cards) @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying......no, she's singing "Mamaaaaaaaa!" Freddy Mercury style because she wants to see Mother's Day Cards.

Speaking of Mamaaaaaaaaaa.....I used to sing this to my kids from time to time. They didn't call me mama but sometimes when I heard, "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy (repeat 6 million times)" I would, on the occasions where I had had a bit more of that than I could take, break into a rousing chorus of "Mamaaaaa ooh/Didn't mean to make you cry/If I'm not back again this time tomorrow/Carry on, carry on/As if nothing really matters....." I found subjecting them to my (way) less than stellar, albeit enthusiastic, singing was much better on them and me than getting snappy. So, needless to say, I'm loving Brenda's unique title for this challenge.

And, this is what I did.....

I do now wish I had somehow made a Bohemian Rhapsody themed Mother's Day card. That would have been pretty awesome.

Digi is from Pernilla Nilsson.  Lots of sparkle on here, little rhinestones in the centre, bigger rhinestone on the bow, Stickles dotted around too.  I swear, tying that double bow took more time than every other facet of making this card combined.  And that was all because I couldn't remember how to use a Bow Easy and I didn't want to get up and walk exactly four steps to sit down in front of the computer to watch a tutorial.  Laziness at its fineness.

Blue! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Blue!" which means, you guessed it, she wants you to use blue on your projects. And, my friends, I do sincerely hope you are all just using blue and not feeling blue.

This is what I did.....

I went with a fairly generic card today.  I really like this street scene from Pernilla Nilsson.  I paper pieced the tree and pop dotted up two of the circles for some dimension.  And, that's pretty much all there is to this one.

Why don't you give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Sea It! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying "Sea It!" which means she wants to see things to do with the sea. Lots of stuff to pick from!

This is what I did.....

Okay, so it's more sea adjacent, than actual sea.  Not a big fan of the sea/beach.  Anakin Skywalker was right.  (Though George Lucas certainly wasn't.  Geez.)  I also took liberties with the Father's in Father's Day.  Turns out my Dymo label maker does not have an apostrophe.  Figured the ^ was close enough. Although I would like to take a moment to be ticked over the fact that my labeller has a ^ but no '.  I mean really, people could go their whole lives without ever needing a caret on a label.  Can't say the same thing about an apostrophe.  What I should have done was gotten all indignant and made the sentiment "Happy Day of the Father".  And then I could have said, "Take that Dymo, you ridiculous apostrophe hater".  But I'm thinking the humour of the sentiment would have been lost of everyone but me.  Digi is from Pernilla Nilsson.

Hippity Hop @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Hippity Hop" which just means that she wants to see a creature that hops.

I went with the obvious....

....and did an Easter card with a bunny.  I really like this bunny but.....given its physical attributes I'm not sure how much hopping it could actually achieve.  But, seeing as I'm not a warrener nor a cuniculturist, I really shouldn't pass judgement on how a bunny must look to be able to jump around.  I'm also not an artist, and if you asked Pernilla Nilsson, who is an artist, and the illustrator of said bunny, she'd probably either point out that the bunny's back bounding legs are just behind it and not visible, or roll her eyes at my dissection of her super cute drawing.  Either way, I think I'm just gonna declare that this is the hoppiest bunny to ever hippity hop.

Say It In Speech Bubbles @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's telling us to "Say It In Speech Bubbles" which just means that she wants to see speech bubbles on your project. How fun!

Originally I thought I'd do something quite different than what I ended up with.....

....I went super cas and I coloured on textured cardstock for a change too.  Gotta love these lil blobs.  They totally make me smile.  They're a digi from Pernilla Nilsson.

Birthday Balloons @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

our newest Girlfriend, Imke, is up for her premiere hosted challenge and she wants to see birthday balloons. How fun! I went thought about a few different concepts for this one but in the end I went with what I like best to do.....(Okay, sidebar.  Upon proofreading the preceding sentence, I realized it ain't right.  But seeing as that's pretty much how the went thought went I thought I'd leave it as is.)

....a coloured digi, some paper piecing, and lots of (maybe too busy??) patterned paper.  Digi is from Pernilla Nilsson.  Have to admit, I'm a bit smitten with the pom pom.  (:  I'm also slightly flabbergasted that the paper piecing worked out so perfectly.  Not usually how my things in my life go, but I'll take it.

Christmas In July @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm going with "Christmas in July" which means I just want to see Christmas projects.

This is what I did.....

I do like how this turned out.  Digi is from Skapar Kallarn, and the words are dies from Paper Smooches.  Wouldn't it be neat of snowflakes were red and green.....or any colours really?  Hmmm.....except when it started to melt and the colours all blended together to form a goopy brown, then not so pretty, of course.  Still, living in the country, and travelling gravel roads a lot, that's pretty much what melting snow looks like to me anyways.  Don't know if I'd handle having my whole lawn look like that though.  Okay, let's stick with white.

So, why not get those Christmas project starting and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up? And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Celebrate Anything! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Mandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's going super easy on us. The challenge is "Celebrate Anything!" which means just about anything goes! No excuse not to join us this week!

I went a bit unconventional with what I'm celebrating....

Rather than an occasion or event I'm celebrating friendship.  Because it deserves to be celebrated for sure, doesn't it?  Think on it a moment.....life would definitely suck without friendships.  Plus I really wanted to colour up this cute little owl from Skapar Kallarn and I thought it would be perfect for a general friendship card.

So, why not celebrate absolutely anything and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up? And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Down On the Farm @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and we're going "Down On the Farm"! That just means that I want to see projects with a farm theme.....could be a farm animal, farm machinery, crops, buildings etc. etc. etc.

This is what I did....

Made this for my oldest's birthday. Told him Doug (his ram) found himself a scooter and a hat. Then I laughed and laughed while he just shook his head and wondered what awful thing he'd done in a past life to end up with such a corny mom.  Digi is from Skapar Kallarn.  (That's the Etsy shop, you can find their digis on Facebook too.)

Speaking of sheep.....it's lambing season at his barn.  Currently there's been 56 little lambies born.  And, I tell ya, they're pretty darn cute.  (Really wanted to post the slightly longer video he had that shows almost all the lambs but it was too long for him to send me.  😞)

We haven't let any of them have a go with the scooter though.  We're still needing to buy a helmet.  Safety first.

Why don't you find your inner farm girl (or boy) and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Christmas Carols @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's got a fun one for us! She wants to see projects that incorporate Christmas songs/carols in them.

This is what I did....

As you can see that brown patterned paper has the words from The 12 Days of Christmas all over it.

Digi is from Skapar Kallarn, and you can find the digis on Facebook or, to a lesser extent, the Etsy shop.

So, why not head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

And, I thought I'd leave you with my favourite version of The 12 Days of Christmas. You've probably seen it before but it's still tons of fun.

Santa's Coming To Town @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying "Santa's Coming to Town" which means we want to see those projects featuring that jolliest of elves - Santa! Or, you could use a less than jolliest elf, like just a regular elf, too.

And that's what I ended up doing....

Now, I'm not saying that Santa isn't the elfiest of elves, he totally is, but if there's an elf in second place, it's gotta be this lil guy.  He's from Skapar Kallarn, and you can find the digis on Facebook or, to a lesser extent, the Etsy shop.  And look, he believes in Santa Claus.  Aw!

So, why not pull out those Santa &/or his elves images and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Off We Go! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Heather's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Off We Go!" which just means she wants to see projects to do with travel.

This is what I did....

Now, who wouldn't want to go for a trip on this happy little sailboat? Digi is from Skapar Källarn.

So why not pack your bags and join us for the challenge? Head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.
