It's a Fake! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "It's a Fake!" which mean I want to see some kind of faux on your project.

This is what I did....

It's got faux stitching, as well as strategically cut and placed patterned paper pretending to be a background die and those embellishments in the corner aren't enamel dots...it's red mirror paper cut in small circles and stacked for dimension.  Sentiment is clipart.  Easy peasy!

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Frenchified! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Shani's turn to choose the challenge and she's got an absolutely fun one for us this week.  Shani, who lives in France, is saying, "Frenchified!" which means she wants us to incorporate Frenchness in our project.  So, think the Eifel Tower, croissants, cheese, escargots, kissing (hoh, hoh, hoh), a sentiment en Francais, or even.....

french fries!  Now, I know I should have been a good Canadian and went with some actual French.  And initially, that was indeed the plan.  My original thought was to go with a pretty lady image or the like and pair it with the sentiment: Oh là là.  But, french fries won out....like they generally do, at least for me, when it comes to forms of potatoes.

Image is clip art, I just printed it out twice, once to colour and once at the bottom of a page, then folded it, and cut it out, leaving part of the top uncut.  An easy way to make a shaped card.  Coloured the fries, paper pieced the fry container, added the googly eyes, and that was about that.  I always say, the only thing better than googly eyes on a card, is two different sized googly eyes.  The sentiment inside is as follows:

Would have been great if I could have incorporated French there....but I have frites for only you doesn't really work on the punniness scale.  So I let the fries stand as the only French thing.  Now, if I had any talent, I could have made my fries into poutine, because that's a very French-Canadian thing....and it's delicious too.  I once had poutine at The Canadian Potato Museum in Prince Edward Island (PEI), and let me tell you, amazing doesn't even cover how good it was.  My daughter and I talk about driving out there again just to have the poutine (it's a 1840km drive which would take about 19 hours of straight driving) and we're not completely joking.  Drat, now I'm hungry for poutine.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Fruits or Vegetables! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Fruits or Vegetables!" which means she wants to see some kind of fruit or vegetable on your make.

This is what I did....

I went all lovey-dovey again this week.  Not overly sappy irl, but I sure do love making cards about love.  And, if I can throw in a pun, well that's even better.  Although, I did mess up the pun at first which had me scrambling to fix it as I was making up this post.  Originally, the card read ...apply ever after.  Which, as you know, apply is an actual word, and it's not pronounced the way it should be to make the card make sense.  A quick removal of the letters, the cutting of an E, and getting them all back on there, worked out, thank goodness.  I will also say, I'm kinda second guessing myself with the font.  I think the wee hearts is a little much with this patterned paper.  Oh well, one hasty fix per card is enough!  (:

Apple is a clipart image and the letter dies are from Paper Smooches.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Ack!  In looking at it on the screen, the die cut letters are definitely not centred in between the my and ever like they should be.  Darn this card!  lol

Sentiment As Main Focus @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

I'm late yet again.  Hopefully in the next couple of weeks or so, things will slow down a bit and I'll be able to stay on top of things!  Imke is our host this week and she wants to see projects with the sentiment as the main focus.

This is what I did..........

I took a sentiment from Create With TLC and layered it over the clip art image of a bomb.  And that's about all I've got to say about that.

So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Fruit Salad! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Fruit Salad!" which just means that she wants to see a card with some fruit on it.  Yummy!

This is what I did.....

Welp, it's not much of a salad as it's all about pineapple, but seeing as pineapple is delicious, I figured it was a-okay.  Image is clip art that I manipulated in Silhouette Design Studio.  Admittedly, it looked better on the screen than it did printed out.  Might have something to do with the fact that I own a the-cheapest-in-the-store Walmart printer.  Pineapple die is from Paper Smooches, which is no longer in business ):

Sunshine! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Sunshine!" which means that she wants to see projects that include the sun or bright yellow. How summery!

This is what I did....

I went super CAS this week out of necessity.  Seeing as I was making Chocolate Delight/Mississippi Mud Pie/I'm Not Going To Call It That Other Name Because. Please. *eye roll* at 10:45pm last night and I still hadn't made anything for the challenge today.  One good thing about making that dessert at that time of night is that your late-night snack can be spoonfuls of chocolate pudding and Cool Whip scraped from bowls and directly into one's mouth.  So, using a clipart sun, computer generated sentiment, a couple of gems and slapping some cardstock underneath it all might be looked at as cheating when it comes to actually creating something.....or it could be looked at as Super CAS At Its Finest.  I'll let you decide.  (:

Why don't you give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have created.

P.S.  It occurs to me that maybe some of you won't know that name for the aforementioned dessert that I refused to mention.  *sigh*  It's sometimes called Sex In a Pan.....which I think is an absolutely ridiculous name for it.  First of all, it's not that good.  Its main ingredients are instant pudding and Cool Whip.....so while it does the trick, it's not gonna curl anyone's toes (if you know what I mean).  Second of all, my brain always takes that moniker far too literally and it makes me wonder what y'all are doing in the kitchen with your Pyrex.  Finally......my husband's family delights in calling this dessert Sex In a Pan and it was first introduced as such to my children when they were young.  And it went a little something like this....

MIL to Oldest:  Which dessert would you like, sweetie?
Oldest:  I'll take that.  *points at SIAP because, well, he knows better*
MIL:  This one?  What's it called again?  *large gathering of relatives pauses expectantly to see if they can get a 7 year old to say it*  (Cut to me grinding my teeth)
Oldest:  Ummmmm
Middlest (5 yo):  *loudly*  That's Sex In a Pan, Joel.  *proud grin at his excellent remembering while the room explods into laughter*
Youngest (3 yo):  Sex!  *digs into her already dished up piece*
Me:  *under my breath*  Fuuuuuuc........

Leftovers! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

I'm hoping everyone is safe & well and coping okay if you are self-isolating, social/physical distancing, in lock down or if you've been laid off. Kudos to all those businesses who are taking care of their employees by offering full wages during shut downs/staff reductions, those celebrities/performers who are doing things from their home to help entertain us while we stay home, and all those people who are out there working in essential services, from the grocery store clerks right up to health care workers/first responders.  And, of course, to all the scrapbook stores and stamp companies who are really looking after us crafters by offering free or reduced shipping, offering to door drop ordered supplies, online classes etc.  Thank you.  These are tough times but we will get through it.

So, (again) this week at LRW, it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Leftovers!" which just means that she wants to see projects with those bits and bobs that weren't used on this make or that. We all have those laying around, right?

This is what I did.....

I used a scrap bit of script patterned paper which I printed some clipart butterflies on and the die cut birthday was to originally go on a different card but it didn't look right.  Looks okay here though, I think.  Birthday die cut is from Stamplorations and the happy is from Paper Smooches.

Why don't you give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Off, Off & Away @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's got a fun one for us. She's saying, "Off, Off & Away" which means she wants to see projects about outer space....so think stars & planets, aliens, ufos, etc. etc. etc.

This is what I did.....

Look, it's not a card!  I actually had intended to make a card but then I found that cool piece of acetate paper.  I then decided to use that glitter paper as a backing....and for some reason it's more like cardboard than cardstock.  So, rather than have a super heavy card I just finger crocheted some twine and stuck it to the back so it could be a wall hanging.  I did have a photo of it, string and all, but I didn't account for the reflectiveness of the acetate and my hands and camera are fairly visible.  I guess I moved a bit out of the way for this one.  I'm glad 'cause then I don't have to make my lazy butt set everything up for another photo.  (:

Lights, Camera, Action! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's got a fun one for us....she's saying, "Lights, Camera, Action!" which means she wants to see projects that are inspired by a movie or TV show.

This is what I did....

I betting a lot of you will know what TV show this is from but in case you don't....

...it's from Grey's Anatomy, of course.  I miss Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang.  Wish she was still on the show.

All computer-generated here....some clip art, sentiment done up in Word, a little paper piecing, tiny heart die, and that's that.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Luuurve @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and since it's Valentine's Day I'm going with "Luuurve". Now, for any non-English reading readers, luuurve is just the my-level-of-maturity way to say "love". And, seeing as I'm probably the least romantic person on the face of the planet (just last week I was telling my Middlest that The Avengers movies are more realistic than every rom-com ever made) it's about the only way I can say it without sarcastic gagging after the fact.

So, I obviously went light with the mushiness.....

....coz a pun always makes things more fun than icky-sticky, right?  I love this bear.  It was a freebie from Educlips.

Heart & Home @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Sandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Heart & Home" which means that she wants to see a project with both a home/house and a heart(s). Lots of fun!

This is what I did....

As you can I made a shaker card.  It's a pretty darn staticy piece of acetate, despite me running an Embossing Buddy over it, but I kinda like how the glitter sticks to it, adds to it I think.  I shoulda added more shaker guts though.....that always seems to be the way when I made shaker cards....I either add to much or too little!
