ICAD - Post # 7

Well, ICAD is winding down over at Daisy Yellow. There's just one week I mean a few days left to go now. So, without further ado, here's index cards 48 through 54.....

Prompt: Dreamy

Used a much-loved but little used mask.

Prompt: Sketch a bicycle

Yeah, it's not a sketch. You did see my houseplant right? No way I was even going to attempt to draw a bicycle.

Prompt: Make a pocket.

So, that's inside the pocket. And this is.....

outside the pocket. And I already called no tag-backs. So nah, nah, nah, nah nah.

Prompt: Confetti

The "party" words are from a package of confetti. And, that's pretty much a self-portrait of me at any function/party. (Though I usually wear more than just undies.)

These last three don't have any prompts....

I'm still using this dollar store multi-colour ink pad I bought when I first started crafting.

Broke out my dd's oil pastels for this one.

*snicker* Gotta love Jack Handy.

Chevrons @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

the challenge is to use a chevron pattern. Chevrons are pretty "in" right now so google yourself a tutorial on how to create one, use a die cut or even use patterned paper with a chevron design.

This is what I did.....

So I used chevrons in two different ways. I used a mask and slopped on some paint and I used this tutorial for creating chevrons out of some pp. And yeah, after all was said and done, I realized that, "D-uh" I forgot to cut the edges out so it looked like a chevron instead of just a straight piece of paper. Really. *sigh*

So why not head over to Little Red Wagon and enter the "Chevron" challenge. And be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have done.

ICAD - Post # 6

Almost caught up, woo hoo! These are ICADs #41 - #47....

Prompt: Write a pangram.

Not the most succinct pangram ever but it does contain every letter. (I checked...twice!)

Prompt: Ladybug

Fly away home......

Prompt: Circus

Don't know if you can see it, it's very Rorschach-y. Really wish I hadn't done such a pee-pee poor job with the Distress Ink. Really I deserve it though for laughing at Tammy.

Prompt: Draw an EDM prompt.

I picked "Draw a houseplant." Still can't draw but I don't hate this card. How's that work????

Prompt: Cut out

Been meaning to do this technique on an actual card card but still haven't got around to it.

Prompt: Numbers

Sorry if that's harsh but I actually feel physical pain when someone does it wrong.

Prompt: This one's all Lauren's fault.

She made me remember something that I had long forgotten.....

ICAD - Post # 5

(See, Lauren. It's not hard at all to come up with interesting titles for ICAD posts. Bwah hahahahahahahahahahahaha)

Okay, so ICAD round # 5. And here we gooooooooooooooo......

Prompt: Diagram your lunch.

Yeah, that's not a diagram, is it? But there's a method behind this. See, I like to eat. In fact, I love to eat. I especially love to snack. So, in order to be able to snack like I like to I've learned to compensate by eating less at mealtimes. (That way I don't grow as big as a house.) So, lunch for me is almost anyway a salad. Which is good, I like salad. But how awesome would it be if you could eat something full-fat and juicy like this burger and not suffer the expanding waistline and clogged arteries that would inevitably come with choosing this as an everyday lunch? Pretty freakin' awesome, I'd say.

Prompt: Graffiti

And after it was all said and done I realized that I had done my "artwork" on the wrong side of the card. Darn you Tim Holtz for having your embossing folders opposite of everyone else.

Prompt: Collage of pinks

Not much to say here....

Prompt: Mondrian artwork

Had to google it. I'm so not educated.

Prompt: none

Just some pretty flowers at a delicious restaurant right on the lake.

Prompt: Haiku

Geez, I hope I got it right. (See the comment after ICAD # 4 on this post.)

Prompt: Definition

Now, don't get me wrong, I play sports. In fastball I play pitcher and catcher (though not at the same time) so I'm used to having balls wailed and hit at me. And that's all fine and good. But, if I don't know where a ball is and especially if I think there's a chance it's coming towards me and just might hit me in the face, I will turtle like nobody's business and I have been known to turtle and hide behind someone. It's something of a running joke, and even though I know I'm being laughed at (albeit good-naturedly....at least I hope) I'm not going to change my spots....or stripes (depending on what kind of turtle I'm being....*snort*).

Halfway Inspiration @ UnstampaBelles

Well, we're halfway through the month again so it's time for a bit of inspiration from yours truly for July's challenge at UnstampaBelles. This month the challenge is "Celebrations" so we're looking for any paper project celebrating...anything! Just remember - no stamps.

I was poking around Splitcoast Stampers looking for some inspiration for a 90th birthday card. This design was quite prominent and I quite liked it so I though I'd give it a go.

So, this is what it looks like closed.....

(We'll just ignore the fact that it doesn't all line up properly. I think it's fast becoming my trademark.)

And a couple pics of it open....

You'll have to forgive the photos, it's not the easiest card to get pictures of. But I'm sure you get the idea. And yes, there are 90 candles on the card. Thank goodness for my Silhouette Cameo.

So, why don't you shove those stamps aside for just one card and enter the "Celebrations" challenge at UnstampaBelles. You have until August 3rd do do so and you'll have a chance to win a great prize.

Can't wait to see what you create!

Use Scrappy Packaging @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

the challenge is to use some of that pretty/cool packaging that scrappy goodness comes in. You know what I mean...take a look at the backing cardstock on a package of embellies if you're not sure. See? Now just use some of that in your project.

I reached way down in my stash and pulled out some stuff I've had forever. Here it is....

So, that printed panel is actually cardstock from the package that those ladybugs came in. I even had to add that button to cover up the company's logo.

(I have to admit though when I look at this card I think "meh". It seems a little blah to me. I was thinking an alpha sticker sentiment might help but I wanted to keep my card-giving options open as this wasn't actually planned for anyone. Oh well, sometimes it just is what it is. ;-) )

So take a look though what you might normally toss and see what you can find and then head over to Little Red Wagon and enter the "Use Scrappy Packaging" challenge. And be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have done.

ICAD - Post # 5....Finally

Whew! I finally got some crafting time today so I played some ICAD catch up. Here's my next 7, numbers 27 - 33. So now I'm only 'bout 10 behind.

Prompt: Weave index cards.

Well, I didn't weave the index cards themselves, opting for some pp instead. I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have used yellow. Methinks they look more like sunny-side up eggs wrapped in garbage bags rather than sushi.

Prompt: Document a moment in words.

Cute story: I was driving home from a ball game with my oldest when a deer trotted across the road a bit in front of us (She was good enough to do so at the stop sign so I was already slowed down.) and into the field on the other side. I was being goofy (as I often tend to do in front of my kids) so I rolled down my window (btw, when are we going to stop saying rolled? Who rolls down their windows anymore?) and said, "Hey Deer, how's it going?" figuring my voice would scare it and it would take off and we'd get to see how fast it could run. But nope. She stopped dead and turned and looked right at me. So, I did what was only polite, I asked if she was enjoying the fine weather, expressed concern as to whether she was finding water to drink and told her she should remember to look both ways before crossing the road. Then I said, "Can I take your picture? I'm sorry it just my phone and not a camera......" I stopped there 'cause she then bolted. Apparently she's a bit of a diva and didn't want her picture taken with an inferior medium. Either that or she just didn't feel pretty.

It was way cool anyway.

Prompt: The ocean

No fish though 'cause they're all

Prompt: Tell a funny joke.

...here. My dd told me this. Not language I usually approve of from a 7 year old but I found the joke funny enough for her to get away with it.

Prompt: Your country's flag.

Every Canadian around my age remembers Joe's rant from the Molson Canadian commercials. And we all loved it. Pure Canadiana.

Stoopid Blooger. (And yeah, I know I spelled that wrong.) It keeps uploading my next two cards sideways. Gonna give it a bit of a break and try again shortly......

I give up. You'll just have to turn your head....or your screen. Edited to add: Blogger is apparently going to play nice today and I was able to get the cards on here the right way.

Prompt: Zebra

And I bet it's yummy!

Prompt: Butterflies

'Nuff said.

Christmas in July @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

the challenge is "Christmas in July" which I think is pretty self-explanatory. ;-)

Oy, I have had absolutely zero crafting time lately. Whoever called it "summer holidays/vacation sure wasn't around this house. I know I'm certainly not the only person on earth that's dealing with a busy summer, but with ball five nights a week and swimming lessons and camping weekends away [Blech, don't get me started about camping. Honestly, I would never classify myself as high-maintenance....until I go camping (and it's in a camper no less!)] and everything else, I just want a couple hours to just play with my stuff.

Okay, enough whining! You didn't come here for that (though if you did I'll mix us up a pitcher of somethin' cold and we could commiserate together). You came to see my card for this week. Luckily, I'm able to work ahead for these challenges so I created this a few weeks ago.

Grrrr....turns out I haven't taken a photo of the card. I was sure I had. Be right back.

So here it is.....

Digi is from Birdie Brown.

Now that I get looking at it, it ain't all that Christmas, is it? Well, I will use it as a Christmas card...and I know that Judy is such a sweet person, she won't mind that I was less than stellar at following the challenge this week. (Right, Judy?)

But I know all of you will be so much better at it. So, why not get in that yuletide mood and head over to Little Red Wagon and enter the "Christmas in July" challenge. And be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have done.

Life's A Beach @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

the challenge is "Life's A Beach" which means we want to see your beach inspired projects. So, if it reminds you (and us) of sand and surf it's perfect for this week's challenge.

This is what I did...

I used some o-ld stash for this as well as a digi from Mo Manning. And a sentiment from Create With Tlc.

So, why not picture your toes in the water your....well, you know what....in the sand and head over to Little Red Wagon and enter the "Life's A Beach" challenge. And be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends have done.

Celebrations @ UnstampaBelles

This month at UnstampaBelles we want to see projects celebrating.....well anything! That's right, any project celebrating an event like a birthday, wedding, new home, baby, graduation etc. or any holiday imaginable is acceptable......as long as it's completely stampless.

I went with a wedding card. It actually doubles as a "congrats" to Merry and UnstampaBelles for their one year anniversary. Yay!

Let's see....I've got some pp, and some bling and lots and lots of tissue tape and a rub on sentiment and well, that's about it!

So, why don't you shove those stamps aside for just one card and enter the "Celebrations" challenge at UnstampaBelles. You have until August 6th do do so and you'll have a chance to win a great prize.

And if you need some more inspiration, head over to the challenge site and check out all the great projects the other dt members have come up with.

Also for:

Charisma Cardz
: anything goes
Aud Sentiments: bingo - ribbon (the flower is made out of ribbon & tissue tape), embossing & "congratulations"
Papercraft Star: embossing
Scrapbook Sisters: anything goes

Awesome Canadian Woman

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Awesome Canadian Women!

And, for all my blog-buddies out there who aren't Canadian...yes, this is indeed a typical day in the life of a Canadian woman. (Well, mostly. I have to admit I've never eaten sushi before. The rest of it is spot on though.)

Have a good one!
