Subtitled: Discovering the Sakura Glitter Pen

So, why am I just finding this product now? I know it's not a new thing. Yep, here I am, woefully behind the times as always. Anyway, now that I finally discovered this pen, I'm loving it!

Not exactly sure what occasion you could give this card for but I love this digi so I just had to use it. It's a freebie from MelonHeadz.

Red, White and Blue @ Squigglefly

This week at Squigglefly the challenge is "Red, White and Blue" which is pretty darn self-explanatory. Let's see those patriotic creations, or just any old creations using those colours.

Now, being a Canadian, it's all red and white over here. But I did manage to throw in some blue (okay, lots of blue) so it would work for the challenge.

I made this card for a girl in my son's class. After living in Canada for three years, the family is heading back to Japan. They are a lovely family, and our small community will certainly miss them. I used Proud Canadian and you can get it for yourself right here.

So why not salute your way over over to Squigglefly and enter the "Red, White and Blue" challenge? You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.

Teacher's Gifts

Yep, it's getting to be that time of year again.....when school's out and the "there's nooooothiiiiiiiing to dooooooooooooooooo" moaning starts. Seriously, I do really enjoy the first little bit that the kids are on summer break, even if it's just mostly 'cause of lunches. I don't mind making them so much....my kids don't like to take "normal" lunches. They want a little of this and a little of that. So some crackers, and some cheese, and a turkey pepperette, and some grapes, and some yogurt etc., never sandwiches or the like. So, when they come home they dump umpteen numbers of dirty containers out of their lunch bags. When I'm washing them all up for the next day you can often hear me mutter, "Here I am again....in Container Hell.

But I digress. This is about teacher's gift. And here are the three I made this year. It's a cute little box containing note cards. I got all the info from this video tutorial from Two Scrapbook Friends. And I discovered that when using a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock you can then make 4 note cards to put inside the box and you use almost the whole piece. I find the lid is a bit tight but it does do the trick.

Bbq King

Looking at this card just makes me happy. I'm not sure whether it's the colours or if it's the great digi (and the fact that it was a freebie) from MelonHeadz .....but I can certainly tell you what it's not. It's not those brads which must be the sharpest pointiest brads on the face of the planet. And it's not the fact that I forgot to colour the rim of the bbq and had to do it after it was already stuck on the card with no pop dots behind that spot so I couldn't press very hard so it still looks uncoloured. It's definitely not the fact that I had to draw on the apostrophe between the "r" and the "s" (and most assuredly not that I just had to have an apostrophe on the card because that's correct grammar). Also, it's not that my inking is on the sloppy side or the fact that I neglected to shade under Mr. Bb(q)King.

Good golly, why was I happy in the first place? ;-)

Summer Fun @ AiFactory

Ah summer. Isn't it grand? This week at AiFactory Challenge Blog we're celebrating that most awesome season with this week's challenge - "Summer Fun."

Here's my homage to those months in the middle of the year.......

This card was a real quickie for me. That's 'cause the image is clipart rather than a digi stamp. It's part of a set called Surf's Up Dudes and you can get it for yourself right here. (You can also buy this particular image as a single if you don't want to purchase the whole set.)

So, what not float on over to the AiFactory Challenge Blog and enter the "Summer Fun" challenge for yourself? You don't need to use an AiF image but you can get some great freebies here. Or check out the rest of the store for lots of fabulous digis.

Make It Masculine @ Squigglefly

Yeah, *sniff* and then I changed the tire in 10 seconds flat. Turned the nuts off with my bare hands too. Still got the grease under my fingernails.

Ahem, sorry 'bout that. This week at Squigglefly the challenge is "Make It Masculine" so I was just trying to set the tone.

I decided to use a new release called Gone With the Wind. I laughed when I first saw this digi. Too funny. You can get it for yourself right here.

So why not saunter your way over over to Squigglefly and enter the "Make It Masculine" challenge. You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.

Adventures in Baby (card) Making

Okay, so have you ever had a card to make and you, for whatever reason, (mine was the simple fact that I wanted the other women at the baby shower to ooh and aah and drool over my card) you want to really knock it out of the park? (Well, not literally. That's a baseball metaphor for those not in the know.)

So, then, despite the fact that your time has been in short supply, (Though not technically. You actually get the same 24 hours in a day as everyone else.) you spend an absolutely ridiculous amount of time trying to make said card come together. And, then the card sits on your desk and laughs at you because, despite the already 2 hours you've worked on it, it's still not done.

So, just before the shower, you're frantically trying to finish the card but you've still got that vision in your head of achieving absolute card greatness, so much so that you're considering handing out tissues before people view your card so their tears of awe don't land on it and mess it up. (Yes, really the only flights I ever take are the of-fancy kind.)

Then, you just start throwing all your favourite/pretty/forever hoarded embellishments at it, just hoping that it will actually turn out amazing.

And, five minutes before you really, really have to leave for the shower you're already late for you finally complete the card, and the only thing you can really utter about it is....."close enough."

But, I did get a "You're fricken talented. I could never do that," so that's something at least.

New Die

*squeal* I just got this die from Taylored Expressions and I am in love. It's so versatile, it even comes with 3 different tag dies. Look what I did with it my first go.

*sigh* It's so dreamy.

Also, with this card I participated in a product challenge from my very favourite craft store Two Scrapbook Friends. Not colours I would normally go with but I didn't mind at all getting dragged out of my comfort zone.

Look at me, all full of love today. Maybe that's 'cause the sun is actually shining.
