Triple Digits @ Squigglefly

Monday again, now before you groan, remember that Mondays are challenge day at Squigglefly. So, yay!

This week Squigglefly is celebrating it's 100th challenge. Double yay! So, in honour of reaching the triple digit mark this week's challenge is about things in 3s.

Easy, peasy. See, I'll show you.

The digi is called Shy Bear: Birthday Bear and it's just way too cute. You can get it for yourself right here.

And, the things in 3s are..........3 layers under the digi, 3 buttons on each side of the digi, 3 different colours of buttons and, if you turn the card sideways and look at the stitching (hand-stitching I might add) it's a whole bunch of 3s in a row! (Yep, I'm pretty proud of that. I won't mention the fact that I thought of the sideways 3s idea after the card was already made.)

So why not head over to Squigglefly and enter the "Triple Digits" challenge. You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.

Another Masculine Birthday Card

I seem to be needing a lot of them right now. And, that's kinda disappointing. Not because I need the cards, and not even that I need to make the cards. It's disappointing 'cause, while the cards themselves arent' boring, the posts about said cards tend to be boring. I mean really, what's there to say about this?

*sigh* I got nothing.

Edited to add: You know what? I do got something and I was totally wrong to forget about it. I got major inspiration for this card from this card, from Leah over at The Chronicles of Orange. A hundred lashes with a wet noodle to me for not adding this to the post when I originally published it!

Boys Will Be Boys @ AiFactory

This week at theAiFactory Challenge Blog the challenge is "Boys Will Be Boys." And, since I have two of them, I can tell you, boy will they ever. (See how I used another play on the word "boy" there? Just thought I'd point it out in case you missed it.)

So, here's my card:

I used an image from a Little Monsters Clipart Set and you can get it for yourself right here.

I'll let you in on a little secret. That "u" and "r" started their lives out as an "m". And to think, I said a very unladylike word when I saw I didn't have a "u" or "r".

Also, I totally ripped off scraplifted the card I saw here.

So why head over to the AiFactory Challenge Blog and enter the "Boys Will Be Boys" challenge for yourself? You don't need to use an AiF image but you can get some great freebies here. Or check out the rest of the store for lots of fabulous digis.

Oh, Little Red Wagon....

....why do you do what you do to me? I am in misery and there ain't nobody who can comfort me, oh yeah.

Okay, that does sound a little harsh, doesn't it? But, I have reason. In case you don't recognize the first sentence, it's actually lyrics from Maroon 5's "Misery." Now, we need to back up a bit so we can put it all into context.........

Last week the challenge at Little Red Wagon was "bicycles." As soon as I read it Queen's "Bicycle Race" started playing in my head. Problem is, I'm certainly not a fan of the song and know only the lines, "Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle. I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike." And that played over and over and over and over and over 'cause I do tend to get songs stuck, and I mean broken record stuck, in my head. And, to top it all off, I didn't even get the chance to make a card for that challenge. So, I lived a full week with Freddie Mercury rolling around in my head (on a bike, no less).

This week, (or last week, I guess since the challenge ends today) Little Red Wagon's challenge is houses. So, you guessed it, I was visited by John Cougar (yes, he was Cougar then so I'm putting it in now) Mellencamp singing "Pink Houses." Thankfully, thought it's certainly not my favourite, I like the song and know much more of it.

And, just as it was starting to get old I thought to myself, "Little Red Wagon, why did you do this to me?" This mental utterance caused Maroon 5 to enter stage left (John and Freddie graciously made way) and set up their equipment for their engagement, which is still going on, hence the first sentences of this post.

So, I was doing some chair dancing when I made this:

See, it all made sense in the end. And, if any of those aforementioned songs are now stuck in your head......well, don't mind me if you hear some slightly evil snickering in the background.

For:

Little Red Wagon: houses

Anything But the Usual @ Squigglefly

This week at Squigglefly we wanna see you mix it up! Yep, that's right, do something out of your crafting ordinary. Usually colour with pencils? Use markers instead. Always make a card? Why not try an altered project or a scrapbook layout? It doesn't really matter what you do as long as you get out of that comfort zone and try something new (or little used).

Here's my card, so you can see what I did differently......or rather what I didn't do.

See, look Ma, no colouring at all. It was hard to keep my hands away from my pencils, but I managed. Plus, continuing the black & white theme with the rest of the card certainly helped. Besides, this digi called Here's How Your Garden Grows is so gorgeous it looks lovely without any colour. You can get it for yourself right here.

C'mon, you know there's a technique or something out there you've been wanting to try and here's the perfect opportunity! Head on over to Squigglefly and enter the "Anything But the Usual" challenge. You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.

Celebrate!

Hey, do purple, pink and blue go together?

Too late now. ;-)

I've been busy, busy lately with ball season starting, which means another season of coaching plus this is the busiest time of year at both my jobs so I've been putting in extra hours. All that means that, even though one of my oldest friends (and I mean that as in length of the friendship not in the physical age of my friend ;-) ) celebrated a birthday on Friday, this card didn't get made until today.

So, friend (and you know who you are), I would like to go on the record saying that I did not forget your birthday, I simply did not have time to make you a card until now. This is your sneak peak. Look for it in the mail. (Though I am hoping you'll get it in the mail before you see it here. You'll have to forgive me for posting it before it's mailed but it's just been too long since I've posted, I was starting to get withdrawal.)

Digi was a freebie from Bugaboo Stamps.

Mother's Day @ AiFactory

This week at theAiFactory Challenge Blog the challenge is "Mother's Day." That's right, make a card to celebrate the most grueling (remember labour?), grossest (who else would actually hold out their hands to catch puke?), most time consuming (really 18+ years with no break?), exasperating (I never though I'd be demanded to give a reason after I said, "Stop licking the floor," much less to have to utter that sentence in the first place) job in the history of the universe.

But please, don't channel the above examples of motherhood into a card. I don't think I want to see that. ;-)

Here's mine:

I used Mother's Day Special Boy in the Pot and you can get him for yourself right here.

So why head over to the AiFactory Challenge Blog and enter the "Mother's Day" challenge for yourself? You don't need to use an AiF image but you can get some great freebies here. Or check out the rest of the store for lots of fabulous digis.

Flowers @ Squigglefly

April showers bring May flowers and now that it's finally May (and omg, if you live in Ontario you aren't sad to see April with it's March weather go) Squigglefly wants to see flowers. You guys are getting off easy again this week!

Here's my card:

I used The Old Front Porch a new release. You can get it for yourself right here. Doesn't that look peaceful? You can almost feel the soft, warm breeze tickling your neck as you swing gently back and forth in the swing and.......sorry, but if you've been living though the wet, cool to cold, windy weather we've been having here you'd want to climb into a digi too.

But, rather than just kicking back and relaxing why not make a card or other crafty project that includes flowers instead? It's relaxing too! Then make your way over to Squigglefly and enter the "Spring Showers/May Flowers" challenge. You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.
