Falling Leaves @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's going with a very timely, "Falling Leaves" theme, which means she wants to see projects all about fall. Very fitting!

Now, every time I think of summer sliding into autumn this always comes to mind.....

.....bwahahahahaha!  Cracks me up every time.

Now, I'm afraid that's the only leaf you'll see here today.  Coz, while I did make a very fall card....

.....it just occurred to me that there were no leaves involved.  Buuuuuuuuut, since Kate said it just needed to be a fall themed card, and didn't really specify it needed to include leaves (yes, there's the whole title thing but we're just going to ignore that) I'm gonna just go with it.  *jumps up from computer and scrambles away before any Huh. So This Is a Blog logic doubters show up*

Why not give our challenge a go this week and head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Tag! You're It! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Tag! You're It!" which just means that she wants to see tags. (Now, this is the part where I'd usually say, "How fun!" or "So cool!" or even some sort of pun if I could manage to turn one but.....well...... as everyone here at Huh. So This Is a Blog knows, I'm not pro-tag. It's not that I don't like them, per se, it's that I am absolutely horrible at making them. I once tried making them for our Christmas gifts, meaning the ones just at my own house for my immediate family.....so for kids who were like 5, 7 & 9 years old and a husband who doesn't give a lick about anything crafty I make, and I ended up taking them all off and going with the Dollar Store sticker tags instead, and breathing a sign of relief that I had made that decision and had saved Christmas. So, yeah.....let's just leave out that sentence where I'm excited 'bout this week's challenge, 'kay?)

Now, all that said, I have found a work around to my creative disability when it comes to tags. I've discovered that if I use a tag as part of a card, then I can do it, I can make something that's not retch-worthy. In the past I used to just do tiny tags with the sentiment on it, but lately, I've been a little bolder and used larger tags. And, this time, I pulled out all the stops (well, all the stops that I'm capable of making) and did this.....

Shazam!  Two tags!  And stamping.  Like with ink and a Misti, not with my computer.  I looooooove this holly stamp set from Stamplorations.  The outlines and the insides purposely don't match up and I think that's super awesome.  (It's especially super awesome seeing as I didn't stamp the two berries on the top tag all that great....but because of the stamp's wonderful design it all works out.)  Loving the font of the sentiment too.

And, despite not being very complimentary to Brenda's challenge choice at the beginning of this post, I must thank her for it.  I always feel very satisfied if I manage to make something I like for what I think of as a difficult challenge.  So, thanks, Brenda.  (:

Bling It On! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Bling It On!" which means I want to see those sparkly and shiny bits and bobs. You all know what I mean.

This is what I did.....

As you can see, I've got lots of swirly bling going on on there as well as a big ole blingy gem for the centre of the bow.  As for the image....it's actually a piece of 12 x 12 grey toned patterned paper that I cut up and then coloured in the holly image.  Must say, kinda like this technique.  It's the stamped look with none of the work!  Even had the sentiment all on there as well so I could get away with being super-duper lazy - yay!

Back To Basics @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Heather's turn to choose the challenge and she wants us to go "Back To Basics" which means that she wants to see clean & simple or one layer cards. One of my favourite challenges!

Now I like me a cas challenge because I love the look of cas cards, but rarely make them unless I have to. It's not that I don't like making them, I actually do like to, it's just that I love patterned paper (and I have, like, so, so much of it) that I tend to reach for it right away. And, imho, you can't really make cas cards with the bold, bright, busy patterns of the paper I like to use.  So, even when I make cards that are minimally layered with no embellishments, I wouldn't consider them cas, due to the extreme lack of any "white" space.  And, that's why I like cas challenges so much.  I get to slap my own hand when it reaches for all that patterned paper and it allows me to come up with something like this.....

Now, as you can see, I did actually use a bit of patterned paper.  I also used a bee die from Paper Smooches.  Sentiment was computer generated.

I certainly don't mean to sound braggy.....but a pun, cas design, and a googly eye?  If this wasn't my own card I'd be swooning.  But, since it is, I'll just mutter "good job" at meself, and feed me some chocolate as a reward.

(Edited to add:  Okay, so the chocolate I thought I had has disappeared.  *shakes fist towards ceiling at sleeping kids*  So, I may or may not have poured a generous amount of chocolate chips from the bag straight into my mouth.  And for the record, I don't even feel guilty about it.)

Boys, Boys, Boys @ Tiddly Inks

This month at

we're all about Boys, Boys, Boys! So, grab your fave Tiddly Inks boy-type stamp and come join us.

This is what I did....

I cropped The Train Conductor digi for this one.   This image kinda reminds me of my middlest.  He used to love Thomas the Tank Engine and loved to play with the die cast trains.  At the time we didn't have the room for the big wooden track set up but he was quite happy with a very small plastic roundhouse with a bit of track.  No train hat for him but he did wear overalls from time to time.

Why not grab a Tiddly Inks image, and join us for the challenge?  And be sure to  check out the fabulousness the DT has come up with.

Also for:

4 Crafty Chicks:  anything goes
The Crafty Addicts:  all about boys/men
Shopping Our Stash:  crazy for colouring
Stamping Sensations:  something that starts with B - boy
