Pretty Feminine Thank You

This one came together quite quick despite the fact that I actually took it apart and reworked it.

To put the colour on the embossing, I took some on my kids' oil pastels and rubbed a bit of colour on my finger. Then I used my finger to rub the colour on the raised spots. (And, that, my friends from Pile It On, is my "do something interesting with paper.")

Ever get an idea in your head for a card, and even though you suspect you'll never give the card to anyone, you just have to make that card? Like, right that minute. Even though you should be doing a number of other things that are definitely more urgent.

That just happened to me. I saw the sketch this morning then saw this card and was positively itching to make my card by this afternoon.

I was just putting the finishing touches on it when my middle child arrived home from school and asked, "Who is the birthday card for?" I explained it wasn't a birthday card, and that I probably wouldn't be giving it to anyone. After reading the card he said, "You should give it to the President of Canada." I reminded him that Canada has a Prime Minister not a President, (and consoled myself with the fact that he was able to read the card correctly at least) and kinda chuckled about his idea. He said, "Well, you should. He'd probably like it" and off he went.

And, you know what? I'm gonna do just that. It might not survive all the security checks and what-not but at least it won't sit in my finished cards basket for all of eternity.

Happy (early) Canada Day, Mr. Prime Minister. And to all you common-folks out there as well.

And every year around Canada Day you can buy Champman's ice cream that is vanilla with a red maple leaf in the middle. Now, if you open the box of ice cream and slice it instead of scooping it, you'll get a chunk of ice cream that looks like the Canadian flag (minus the red bars at the sides). Cool, eh?

That cat is cool.

Made this for a boy who's turning 9 so pretty light in the embellishment department. Wish I could remember who the digi stamp was from since it was a freebie and I like to give credit where credit is due. I had to really, really convince myself that it would be okay to rip pages out of my only dictionary. Honestly, I never use it, yep I'm that smart. hee hee (Dictionary.com is a site I visit frequently.) Still, tearing pages from a book?!? *gasp, gasp, double gasp* I was happy I braced myself and did it in the end.

Crafter's Block

Subtitled: Good idea, poor execution.

Yesterday I started making cards. I actually tried making 4 different cards and all 4 cards were absolute poo-poo.

Today, inspired by an awesome sketch at CPS, I made this card. I know I would really like this card if I hadn't done such a horrible job with my doodled lines around the outside. Honestly, I was sober when I drew them.

Guest Designer at Tuesday Taggers

I got asked to be a guest designer at Tuesday Taggers again. The theme is "all that blooms" so I made this.



Here's a closeup of my altered embellishment. This flower was originally white. I coloured it with Copics and then painted on pink nail polish. The pink doesn't really show up but the sparkly does.
