It's Hot! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "It's Hot!" which just means that she wants to see those projects using warm colours....like reds, oranges, yellows etc.

Very fitting challenge for the state of the world right now.  Anyone who can still claim climate change is a hoax after the extreme temperatures experienced by so many countries this summer....well, I think we all know how those people are regarded by the rest of us.  But, you didn't come here to discuss the climate crisis or politics (which is good coz I'm not very knowledgeable about either topic), you came here to see what I made for the challenge.  And, here it is....

I used another favourite Christmas digi.  This one is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I just love this sweet wee boy.  I used a star die cut from gold glitter fun foam in place of the star that's part of the stamp.  I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out how to paper piece the fun foam on the stamped star....coz there's no way glitter fun foam would feed through a printer, and even if it could, I doubt it could actually be printed on....before I said, "Omg, DUH!" and just die cut a star slightly bigger than the digi's.

Almost had a big boo-boo with this too.  Got the sentiment on there, thought it didn't look quite right, sang the carol in my head a couple of times.....puzzled 'til my puzzler was sore (bonus points to me for the Christmas show reference (: )....and then realized that the sentiment read hang a shining star highest bough and the upon the strip had disappeared.  Found the missing piece and got everything switched up.  A little less urgent this way.....though, if I left it the other way, I could just picture it being barked out by the stereotypical 'Mean Girl rich PTA stay-at-home mom' antagonist to the 'just moved back from the big city slightly struggling single mom' who is spending her one evening off that month volunteering at her kids' school to transform the gym into a Frozen-esque wonderland for the Winter Dance and is, of course, adorably clumsy and after hearing the aforementioned Mean Girl mom demand, "Hang a shining star - highest bough - now!" complete with vicious, stabby pointing, single mom blushes ever so beautifully when the absolutely gorgeous single dad (whose wife left him, not the other way around so we will know what an amazing guy he is) who everyone has a crush on, most in particular the (again aforementioned) Mean Girl mom, comes over to help her untangle herself from the string of Christmas lights that could, really, only get that wrapped around a person if they, somehow, threw themselves into a human-sized box filled with Christmas lights and spun around like a top, and, for some reason, the lights are actually plugged into a socket so they're on (to complete the aesthetic).....which I believe is probably basically the plot of every Hallmark Christmas movie ever made.  Whoops.  I probably should have shouted SPOILERS! at the beginning of the paragraph.

At the Beach! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "At the Beach!" which just means she would like to see those projects about/featuring beachy things.

This is what I did....

Digi was a freebie from an artist no longer is business.  I actually picked this up back in 2011.  Sentiment is from Create With Tlc.

Embellish It! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Embellish It!" which just means she wants to see embellishments on your project.  Bet we all have a least one drawer full of those!

When I was thinking about the card I was going to do for this challenge, I got thinking about what type of cards would have the most embellishments.  I was originally thinking that vintage/shabby chic makes would have the most but then I remembered what cards definitely have the most embellies....

...shaker cards!  I tell you though, this was a beast to make.  The first attempt had a large snowman and I made his snowball base into a shaker but then I decided to fussy cut him and ended up cutting off his one arm.  I kiboshed that idea and went with this one instead.  What I didn't realize was all the large flake glitter was going to static cling to the acetate, making the patterned paper behind it practically invisible.  That made the patterned paper on the front of the card a little too...well...much (for lack of a better way to describe it) so I covered it with this different patterned paper, which, luckily, has a design that could be rotated any way as I didn't get the die cut circle in the exact spot as it was on the too much patterned paper.  And, I just found out that the foam tape I used isn't very sticky and now it's leaking.  Add to that the fact that I should have adhered the shaker panel onto the cardstock with pop dots rather than Scor-Tape as that twine is really thick and is causing the top of the shaker part to not stick to the cardstock part.....*sigh*

If you just look at it in terms of the challenge though, it's doing okay for that.  Along with the glitter and microbeads in the shaker, there's twine, bells, bling and a button, so it's definitely got embellishments.  Snowman digis are from Melonheadz Illustrating and the tag is from LOTV.

Here Comes the Sun! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge, and, sticking with the Beatles songs theme, she's saying, "Here Comes the Sun!" which means that she just wants to see a sun on your project.

It took me a little while to figure out what I was gonna do for this, as I didn't have any sun images that were doing anything to inspire me.  I was thinking I'd end up setting a less than stellar DT example.  Admittedly, I've always had a hard time with challenges like this.  So, you might think I definitely don't have a good offering this week.  And, that's okay.....

But....

you'd be wrong, coz BAM!  hahahahahaha

In truth though, I did struggle at trying to get something started for this challenge.  But, then I saw this patterned paper and it all came together lickity-split.  Digi is from Melonheadz Illustrating.  I do so love Nikki's digis.

Make It With Circles! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Make It With Circles!" which means she wants to see those roundest of shapes on your card.

This is what I did....

Not sure why the lighting is so weird on this photo.  As you can see, I've got lots of circles on there!  Inspiration for this card came from this lovely make.  The inspo card uses an ink blended background, but since I am horrible at ink blending, I just used a watercoloured-look piece of patterned paper instead.  It was pretty fun to make this card, figuring out where to die cut the circles and circle frames....until it came to attaching that one skinny arch in the lower left corner.  That took a lot of cutting of pop dots, which is not my idea of a good time.  Plus there was no food involved, so that's also a reason why it wasn't my idea of a good time.  (:
