Spring Blog Hop! @ Tiddly Inks

Christy has decided to make me feel even more grouchy about the weather celebrate spring by having a blog hop!  And it's an anyone-can-participate hop - yay!  Deets are here if you want to read them in full, but basically you need to make a spring card, add it to the Linky today and then you'll be in the hop too!  After the Linky closes you can hop around to all the participants and see a grand celebration of spring.  That doesn't include snow.  Which would be nice seeing as we're still getting snow this week.  And it's currently 1ºC and trying to snow now.  *grumble*

So, I decided to go extra spring with my make......

I don't know how much more spring I could get on this card!  (I've got a digi I can't find in the shop....it was an extra and I don't know which image it belongs to so I can't link it - sorry!)  I've got loads of butterflies, flowers, green grass (wouldn't it be cool of grass was green striped like that), ladybugs, spring colours and a nice fluffy sparkly (which isn't showing up very well in the photo) felt cloud.  And look at that, I even used an embellishment.  Don't see that too often 'round here.  I bet that butterfly is about eight years old.  Good thing my Mountain O' Stamps went sliding off my desk and a few landed in my embelli drawer of I would never have thought to use it.

Riding Along @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Heather's turn to choose the challenge and she's "Riding Along" [And in my head I'm going, "Singing a cowboy song. Riding along, singing a song. Oh-lee-oh-lee (Oh-lee-oh-lee) Oh-lee-oh-lay (Oh-lee-oh-lay) Oh-lee-oh-lay." And now I'm chuckling to myself because when I Googled the song, coz I was going to be super lazy and just copy/paste those lyrics and coz I was curious to see what old tyme county & western singer sang it, coz I remember it being a staple song from my childhood and my dad was (and still is) very into that genre.....and, well.....turns out it's by Sharon, Lois & Bram.] which means she just wants to see projects that feature transportation of some kind.

I had a few false starts with this challenge but in the end this is what I came up with.....

No stamps here.  A bunch of die cuts, from a number of different companies, and a computer generated sentiment.  I love boats for baby boy cards.  And, that's about all I've got to say 'boat that.  Bwahahahahahahahaha!

Trot! - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

Subtitled:  For the Last Time, It's English Riding Not Western Riding!

It's Friday.  And it's April 20th.  Or so the calendar has to tell me because the weather sure ain't.  We still have snow, like enough of it that there's a drift in our backyard.  Temps have been consistently below freezing too.....as I type this it's -7ºC, but it feels like -11ºC.  That's not April weather.  It's Make Me Grumpy weather.  Forecast says the temperature is going to hit the teens tomorrow and for most of next week, so, there's hope that spring will actually come.  Right now I'd just be happy to be able to go outside without mitts on.

But, enough whining about the weather!  Let's talk about my card.  And how I keep trying to make Wryn a cowgirl.....well....better show you the card and then I can explain further....

This is a fairly new digi called Wryn & Her Horse.  Originally, I had a sentiment/quote on the left side of the card there.  Had it all stuck down and everything.  Took photos of it like that too.  It said, "You can't tame a cowgirl."  Was just about to put the card away when I realized.....Wryn is not dressed for Western riding, she's dressed for English riding.  I won't claim I really know anything about horses, but I do know that.  I tried for a "Who cares?  No one is actually going to care" attitude....but I wasn't having it.  So, I pulled off the sentiment and added the burlap flower and bling instead.  Looks better like this anyway.  Then, when I was thinking up a blog post, I was going to go with Giddy-Up!, which, as you know, is also a more Western riding word.  So, that's why I had to add the subtitle.  Because apparently I feel the need to be completely authentic when it comes to cardmaking.....well, until I decide to use an image of a duck holding an umbrella or a bear dressed in clothes or the like.  Because, to my brain, I guess those stamps will make more sense than a English riding dressed girl yelling "Yee-Haw!"

C.O.U.S. @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I decided to go with something wacky...."C.O.U.S." which stands for Cards of Unusual Size. Get the reference now? Here's a little nudge just in case you don't....

Yep, it's a nod to the Princess Bride, of course. I love that movie, and I watched it SO MANY times when I was a teen (and older). But, I will admit, the R.O.U.S.s always annoyed me. The special effects (or extreme lack there of) was pitiful, even for 1987. Still, when the idea of doing Cards of Unusual Size popped into my head as a challenge theme, I wasn't going to let the lackluster portrayal of what was supposed to be ferocious beasts (or the fact that Buttercup seemed to be more concerned about her dress being chewed than Westley being mauled) stop me from using it.

Yes, so C.O.U.S. That means not your standard card sizes (check out the challenge blog if you want more info about what's "standard").....shaped cards of any size would do, as well as papercrafts that aren't cards....as long as their size is unique.

I think you get what I'm meaning. So, something like this....

This card is 8" x 3.5". Definitely not your everyday dimensions. Digi is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  As you can see, it's a unique size itself.  Perfect for this challenge!

Shine, It's Your Day @ Little Red Wagon

it's Imke's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Shine, It's Your Day" which just means that she wants to see cards that shine....so think glitter, bling or even an image like a light bulb. So many possibilities!

This is what I did....

Don't Santa & Rudolph look so happy together?  I'm thinking that this was just after Rudolph tattled on those nasty name calling Other Reindeer and Santa is making him feel better.  And, look at that smile, it worked!  (Or perhaps Rudolph is thinking Santa is doing some name calling of this own rather than just chortling.)  Digi is from Digistamp Boutique.  As you can see, Rudolph has a very glittery nose, Santa's belt buckle is Stickled up gold and (even though it's a bit hard to tell in the photo) the sentiment was die cut out of glitter felt.  Rudolph's nose will shine the way through a foggy Christmas Eve, I'm sure!

Old MacDonald Had a Farm @ EIEIO!!!, ahem....I mean @ Little Red Wagon

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's singing that nursery rhyme (which was an absolute favourite around here) "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" which just means she wants to see projects with farm animals. Yee-haw!

This is what I did....

Stamps are from Your Next Stamp as is the grass die.  Fence dies are from MFT.  I really wish I would have taken the photo with the card laying flat though, even though I generally don't like the way that looks.  But, if I had done that I could have made those googly eyes point every which way, which is kinda the whole point of googly eyes.  In this photo they do appear to be earnestly wishing the Birthday Person a happy day, so that's pretty good too, I guess.

I love these bold, cartoony farm animals.  Well, maybe not that cartoony really.  I do believe I might have found the real life inspiration for these animals so maybe I shouldn't be calling them cartoony....

Yep, pretty sure that's it right there.  I'm not even sure if that's a donkey or a horse or cow.....just a minute, I'll ask my resident (17 year old son) farm expert.....he thinks it's a miniature horse.  Whatever it is, it's a happy looking thing, that's for sure.

Going A-Round @ Tiddly Inks

we're "Going A-Round" which just means that we want to see your circle cards....using a Tiddly Inks image, of course!

When I saw the theme for this challenge, I IMMEDIATELY knew what I was going to do. And the card I made....well, to me, it was the only most logical choice for this challenge. So much so that I was actually afraid that the other lovely ladies on the DT would end up making the exact same card. But, as always, turns out that my brain was not on track and the others made wonderful and gorgeous cards/projects featuring some of the new digis, a lot of the super cute Tiddly girls, some adorable couples, a couple of fantastic mermaids, even a sweet, sweet baby, while I did this.....

....made a Doughnut Card.  (And yes, I know Christy's sentiment uses the American spelling of "donut" but seeing as my card is Canadian, it's definitely a "Doughnut" Card.  (:  )  I used the doughnut from Molly's Donut.  I love the sentiment, no matter which way you spell it.  Who wouldn't be happy if they had a doughnut?  Now, I will admit a paper doughnut is nowhere as joy-producing as an actual doughnut, like say an apple fritter or a Canadian Maple, but it would hopefully bring a bit of a smile to the person who received it.  Or maybe it would just make them hungry.
