Kraft-tastic @ Squigglefly

This week at Squigglefly the challenge is "Kraft-tastic" which means use some kraft paper on your creation. (I find this challenge a little giggle-worth seeing as I've been know to use the word "crap-tastic" now and again.)

I went all over girly with my card.

Yep, and when I got it one glue dot from being completed all I could say was, "Why didn't I print the digi on kraft?!?!?!" *sigh*

I used this cutie, Sitting Pretty.

So why not head over over to Squigglefly and enter the "Kraft-tastic" challenge? You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.

Yes, CAS style, you sure do. So, do you Smooch Mist. And, you kraft cardstock. Golly, so do the rest of you: duct tape stickers, twine, cardstock sticker, random metal button-thingy I found floating around the dryer, little rub-on and square bling.......except for you dp. I mean really, you did the job I needed you to do but, in a honesty, you're not that special. Sorry.

OMG, it's sooooooo frickiiiiiiiiiiiin hot!

Please, nobody go back and look at my posts from spring when I was complaining about how cold it was. I wish it was spring. At least in the spring I could hide in my warm house. Now, I'm hiding in my super-hot house since it's super-hotter outside. Temp is 33°C. Temp with the Humidex is 44°C. (That's 111°F.) Temp in my bedroom 31°C. Temp in my kitchen 28°C.

I can't even talk without whining like a tired, hungry 6 year old stuck in front of a candy counter while shopping with her sugar-hating mom who's stopped to gossip with a cheek-pinching elderly busy-body who smells like cooked cabbage and feet.

I must say, there is something inherently wrong with making a Christmas card while sweat is running down your back into your butt crack. (Yep, I said butt crack. Bet that's the image you wanted in your head right now. And I'm just in the type of mood to start a fight if ya got a problem with that.)

Now, I promised my son I'd go out and get in our very-slightly-larger-than-a-kiddie-pool pool with him. It's probably hotter than a hot tub. Maybe I'll make him continually run around the inside of the pool so it will kinda be like whirlpool jets.

Lots of Layers @ AiFactory

This week at AiFactory Challenge Blog the challenge is "Lots of Layers." I know, scary for all your CASies out there (and I know I tend to throw one of those cards out there from time to time) but for all you fussy & fancy folks out there this one should be a breeze.

Here's what I did.......

So, looking at the sun, which as you can see its points are hanging over the sentiment, there are 7 layers. Yep, 7! See, not hard at all.

I used the My First Rainbow digi stamp collection which you can snag for yourself right here.

(Sentiment is from MelonHeadz Illustrating.)

So, why not head on over to the AiFactory Challenge Blog and enter the "Lots of Layers" challenge for yourself? You don't need to use an AiF image but you can get some great freebies here. Or check out the rest of the store for lots of fabulous digis.

Christmas in July

Is that a Christmas card??? Sure is. My first one of 2011. So, one down.....umpteen more to go.

Hmmmmm....that's not the greatest pic ever, is it? [Edited to add: Lmao. It turns out if I sit in my chair like a grown up instead slouching down like a teenager suffering through Mr. Dick's math class (And yes, that was really his name. You think someone with a name like that would never set foot back in a school once they graduated.) then the picture's not as bad as I originally thought.]

Catch the Bug, Bugaboo Stamps's Challenge site is having a Christmas in July week of challenges which is what prompted my trip into Yule-dom.

For:

Catch the Bug: non-traditional Christmas colours
CPS: sketch

Microbeads!

Yet another paper-crafting supply that I wish someone had told me about long ago. Bubbles in the bathtub. It's totally awesome!!

(Got the idea from Mel Stampz.)

And here's a closeup 'cause it is just so cool (plus I love showing all my cards' imperfections really, really clearly).

*sigh* I love using non-traditional baby colours to make baby cards.

*sigh* I also love this digi. I don't normally use a digi more than once (silly I know but I have a huge collection of freebies) but this one is just perfect for baby cards. It's a freebie from MelonHeadz Illustrating.

Heavy Metal @ Squigglefly

I'll take me some heavy metal preferably in the form of some '80s hair band. (And please, no AC/DC.)

This week at Squigglefly the challenge is "Heavy Metal" which mean show us some metal on your creation like brads, charms etc.

Here's mine using brads and mini wooden clothes pins which also have metal on them.

Yeah...that is a Father's Day card. I could tell you that I'm getting a jump on my cards for next year but I think you'd know I was lying. One of the great things about being on a dt (especially for Squigglefly) is that you get to know the challenges in advance. So, while this card has already been given, I'm just showing it now.

I used Pop and the Kids, a perfect image for anyone who has a family with 3 kids (like mine). You can get for yourself right here.

So why not rock your way over over to Squigglefly and enter the "Heavy Metal" challenge? You don't need to use a Squigglefly image but if you do use one you'll be eligible for this week's prize. There's lots of great images at the store if you'd like to purchase one, or if you'd like to try before you by, check out all the freebies right here.

UnstampaBelles

Okay, so there's this new challenge blog called UnstampaBelles Challenges. And, when I first saw it, I was very intrigued. See, when I first started out on my cardmaking adventure, I never used stamps. And, I mean never. (Click here, or here to see what I mean by my first cards without stamps or here for something more recent.) Some of my favourite cards, whether made by me or by one of many talented people out there, do not have stamping on them at all. (Well, maybe a sentiment.)

So, without further ado, I present to you my card....with absolutely no stamping what-so-ever. (Love getting back to my "roots".)

I should mention too that this card was made with items I received for the June 5 for 5 Challenge over at Two Scrapbook Friends.

For:

UnstampaBelles: celebration
Aud Sentiments: at least 2 words
Charisma Cardz: all about flowers

Truly Scrumptious: things with wings
Clear It Out: wing it out
