Go Hybrid @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I thought I'd do something a little fun. The challenge is "Go Hybrid" (not to be confused with "Go Hybird" which would have us all waving at our feathered friends). So, I want to see both digital and physical (clear, rubber) stamping on your project. That's not too hard, right?

This is what I did.....

The flower is a digi stamp from AJ's Digi Shop and the sentiment is from the Deepest Sympathy set from MFT.

I used my MISTI to get the sentiment on there just right.  I must say, even as an almost exclusive digi user, I do very much see the value of the MISTI.  As you can see, I've used textured cardstock.  No way you get a good stamping on that with just one go.  I'll also say that those MISTI magnets....my gawd....I'd be concerned if someone with a pacemaker ever walked into my house, that's for sure.  Those suckers are POWERFUL, aren't they?  I know, I know, they tell you to keep them away from each other coz they're brittle and can break.  Really though, without holding one in each hand, arms extended completely outward from your body, how are you all keeping them from slapping together??  I had set one on my fingertips and one on the heel of my hand and was just going to move a few thing about when WHAM they snapped together catching a piece of my thumb on the way by and breaking the one in the process.  Hey, I'm not complaining....I knew the warnings.  I just wonder if they need to be quite THAT strong.  I'm thinking of taking mine to the beach and just going for a walk and waving them over the sand to see what treasures I can find.  I'll look when I start sucking boats into the shore, won't I?

Sip It @ Little Red Wagon

I coloured on patterned paper again - yay!  Have to say, I do really like how this turned out.  I used a past freebie from STAMPlorations.  Such a fantastic image.

Inspirational Friday - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

Okay.....so I'll admit it.  Fab Friday totally snuck up on me this month.  Very late Wednesday night I finally clued in that it was today.  Luckily, I had taken the day off from my usual Thursday job but I still had to get some other work done before I took my daughter on a giant back-to-school shopping, buying groceries, running errands excursion.  So, I was looking to create something that wasn't too labour intensive.

Cue my card....no really, card, this is your cue, get out here.....

It's that a lovely sentiment/image?  I just adore how the h is also a flower.  Problem is.....I can't find it to link to it!  I've had a horrible bad habit of late with my Tiddly Inks makes of using images that haven't been released yet.  I'm really hoping this isn't the case here.  I'm thinking this was a freebie....just goes to show that you gotta snap those freebies up when you see them, otherwise it might be too late!  (Coz they'll either be gone or you'll pull a JanR and forget where you saw it.)

I tell ya....this was an absolute terror to try to get a decent photo of.  This was try number 3....including editing and uploading.  It still doesn't show the colours properly....what looks blue is actually more purple and the bow looks so washed out.  I will say that I thought the button was kinda cool....that green line was already on it, not added by me.  A happy flaw, for sure.

Bow & Arrow @ Little Red Wagon

Sandy is the host and she has a fun challenge for us. The challenge is "Bow & Arrow" which means she wants to see one of the other on your make....or both!

This is what I did....

I used a free digi from Paper Smooches again this week along with their Tiny Hearts dies.

A lot of you will probably recognize this line from Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name" which is also the next line of the song.  Personally, I've always thought it was unfortunate that "Shot through the heart..." had such a negative connotation.  Myself, I think it would be a romantic thing to say to someone.  You know, bypassing that whole cupid-in-his-diaper-with-his-annoying-cherub-face-flying-around-shooting-people to say that it was actually your crush/partner/spouse/date who "got" you....and you were happy about it, and willing to follow them anywhere.

Unfortunately, thinking about it that way, doesn't stop the whole Bon Jovi band cranking up the song in my head every time I read the card though.  *sigh, grumble, sigh*

Bugs & Slugs @ Little Red Wagon

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's feeling all summertimey.....in a bit of a creepy-crawly way. The challenge is "Bugs & Slugs" which just means she would like to see an insect or gastropod.

This is what I did....

I used a freebie digi (image & sentiment) from Paper Smooches. I've had this happy bee for AGES, I can't believe this is the first time I've ever used it.  (Edited to add: I happened to be looking at my past blog photos for something and guess what I saw?  Yep, a card with this lil guy.  So I have used it before.  In my defense, it was back in 2013, so I can't be too hard on myself for not remembering, right?  *imagining a chorus of "rights" to make me feel better about, well, niggling doubts about my age vs memory*)  As you can see, it was awfully busy (or should I say buzzy - bwahahahahaha) flying all over the place on my card front there.  Omg, wouldn't it be awesome if that's how bees looked irl?  Can you image walking outside and looking over your lawn and seeing these cubby, happy, polka dotted bees just merrily bobbing from clover to other weed-flower with those big grins and wonky eyes?  Being all like, "Hullo!  I'm just collecting some pollen so I can make honey later.  Well, I best bee buzzing off!"  (Because, of course, bees are into puns.)

Favourite Product/Company @ Little Red Wagon

it's Mandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's going super duper easy on all of us. She just wants to see us use either a favourite product or something from a favourite company. Can't be much easier than that!

It gave me pause for a moment, though, it did. I've got lots of favourites...so what to choose???  I decided to just go for it, and this is what happened...

Okay, so let me tell you about all the faves.  First I've got a digi.  Of course I have a digi.  And, it's a Bugaboo Stamps digi.  The first digi I ever purchased was a Bugaboo digi.  And they're still awesome.  I've coloured this fantastic chick with my Prismacolor pencils, of course.  Really what else would I use?  (No, seriously, what else would I use?  Nothing else, I tell ya, coz I'm pants at using anything else to colour.  Not that I mind.  I love me my Prismas.)  I've also got some colourful patterned paper, coz I also love me some patterned paper.  And, I've got seam binding, coz it's so much easier to work with than ribbon.  And a button, coz buttons are cool.

Now, I've got to talk about my newest favourite thing.  Stitched dies.  Specifically stitched shaped dies.  O. M. G.  They are the best things ever.  So handy, so awesome.  My sewing machine is over in the corner sniffling and boo-hooing because it's feeling so neglected.  And I don't even care.  (Okay, I care a little bit.  Even though it's an inanimate object so it doesn't have feelings, and, of course, can't snuff or whine, I do feel a bit bad thinking that if it did have feelings it would, indeed, feel neglected and sad.  I just turned to it and promised that I would use it on the next shabby chic card I make.  Now we both feel better.  Just nobody tell it that I almost never make shabby chic cards, okay?)

And, to bring it all home, I made this card for one of my favourite people's birthday.  She has chickens so it's pretty fitting.  I can actually hear her saying, "Aw, Jan Jan, I love it!" (Yes, she's one of those amazing people who can get away with calling people by not-quite their names.  She's also one of those people who can get away with hugging anyone...even the staunchest non-huggers will open their arms for her.)

Autumn Glow Colour Challenge @ Tiddly Inks

Lots you can do with those, eh?  This is what I did....

I used Just a Note, (didn't think too hard for the sentiment) one of the newest digis.  You get two images, one of just Wryn with the music note and the one you see here all for $3.00.  What a deal!

I'm not sure why that tiny speck decided to leap onto Wryn's face just for the purpose of the photo coz it's not there now. Fame and fortune, I guess. Now it can tell all its friends it was featured as part of the latest make at Huh. So This Is A Blog. Bet they'll all be real impressed, it'll get first reservations at all the finest restaurants, be irresistible to the sexual orientation of its choice, it'll have to dodge the paparazzi....I really hope it's something like that because I'd really like there to be more of a reason other than to just tick me off.
