Sunshiny Days @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

we're celebrating this nicer weather, and all that wonderful spring sunshine! The challenge is "Sunshiny Days" which just means we want to see a sun on your project.

This is what I did....

Omg, what a time I had with this card!  At first I thought I'd do a shaped card with the sun and clouds....uggg, what a failure that was.  I scrapped that and went with this design but do you think I could figure out how everything went together?  I think my Silhouette managed to chew up my brain along with one of the yellow layers of paper.  Still, it is a fun, happy sun.  It was a freebie from Miss Kate Cuttables.

So, why not let the sun shine in and enter the challenge? Then you can head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Pastel Colours @ Melonheadz Friends

For the next two weeks at

http://melonheadzfriends.blogspot.ca/

we are looking for those soft, spring-y pastel colours. You know, those pale pinks, muted mauves, baby blues and/or mellow yellows. I used to use pastels a lot but now I lean more towards bold colours. But, I put those away for this challenge and this is what I came up with.....

Just realized that I used the exact paper pad and almost the exact paper as I did for the challenge two weeks ago.  Oh well, it's gorgeous paper so it deserves to be seen a time or two.  I used an image from the Babies bundle but for some reason I can't find it anywhere in the shop.  If you're interested in it, leave a comment and let me know and I'll see if I can hook you up.

Why not be all light and lovely and enter the challenge? And be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has made.

Magical Day - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

It's Friday again.....and a special Friday it is!  Today is my youngest's 11th birthday.  I know I am completely biased but she is just lovely, my daughter is.  She's fun and funny, kind, smart....she's a real sweetheart.  See, here she is here.....

And, as we do around here (until high school, that is), she's skipping school and we're off to do something of her choosing.....shopping and lunch.  So, it's a Fab Friday in more ways than one.

Since this is her birthday I thought it only fitting that I show her birthday card.  Here it is.....

She just started reading Harry Potter this year, and loves it, so I thought using Wizardette was super fitting.  Added some Stickles and such for a more magical look.

Make sure you go check out the other fabulous Fabby Friday makes the rest of the DT has come up with.  You can see 'em all right here.

Text Me! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I went with "Text Me!" which mean that I want to see cards with some sort of text on it, other than the sentiment, that is. Or, you can do a card about texting, that would be fine too.

Ah, texting. The introvert's preferred method of communicating. When texting starting replacing phone calls as the method of instant communication, I rejoiced. I loath talking on the phone and avoid it religiously. I once implied that I had physical difficulty using a phone so I could continue talking with someone by email instead. So, having a challenge about texting sounds good to me.

But, after all the blabble above, I didn't actually make a card about texting. Actually, I didn't make a card at all. I did something fairly different from my usual.....

....I made a mixed media canvas.  Okay, "canvas" isn't really the right word.....it's actually a 4x4 piece of cardboard that I cut from a box.  But doesn't "canvas" sound much more refined?

As you can see I've got some patterned paper with lots of words on it, I also used a a word stencil and modelling paste to apply more text.  Hearts were free cut out of the same cardboard and I used crackle paint on them.  Some other paint here and there, pearls, and some word stickers and that's it.

So, why not get all wordy and enter the challenge? Then you can head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

April Showers @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

we've got that quintessential April challenge for you, "April Showers" so we want to see your projects on that theme!

April showers.....oh how I wish it would shower instead of snow! It snowed again today (meaning Tuesday), though there was no accumulation. It's supposed to warm up towards the end of the week, fingers crossed! And, I'm not even going to beg for warm temps, I'd be happy with just not cold temps. 7ºC would suit me just fine at this point!

Anyhoo, I did manage to make a card about more typical April weather.....

Digi is from Skapar Källarn. Can't seem to get enough of her images right now. But they're so cute, how can I resist?!?!  And she's just posted a whole bunch of freebies, so go snag those up while you can!

So, why not celebrate the wet spring weather ('coz the showers bring the flowers as you know) and enter the challenge? Then you can head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Spring Is In the Air - GDT @ Crafty Boots

A couple of weeks ago I was honoured to be asked to be a Guest Designer over at...

...of course, I said yes.  I link up to their challenges quite a bit so gdt'ing was a no-brainer.  The challenge is "Spring Is In the Air" which means that we want to see what spring means to you.

Spring means a lot of things to me......mud (yuck), flies (the joys of having a old fieldstone farmhouse, they come out in the spring for about a month and annoy me to no end), yard clean up (branches, and even more this year due to the recent ice storm, stones from the snowblower, dog....well, you know).....

But, that is more the very, very beginning of spring.  Like the now.....the spring before I even consider spring really started.  'Coz even though the calendar tells us spring starts on March 21st 'round here that's really still winter.  Or Pre-Spring, if you will.  And you can't really make a card outta all the aforementioned anyways.  Well, you could, I guess....but not only would no one remotely want to see it, I sure wouldn't want to make it.

So, let's just skip past all the before-spring-is-really-spring mess.  After all, spring isn't really in the air until you can actually feel it in the air.  So, I'm fast-forwarding my challenge make to sometime in May.  When spring feels like spring.  And this is what I made.....

Did something very different from my usual.   I mean, there's more flowers on this one card than I would probably use on a year's worth of my cards.  But, when I heard the challenge was "Spring Is In the Air" a vision of what I wanted to do popped into my head, and most of me nodded and said, "Stupendous idea!"  Of course there was one little bit of me that was all like this....

....at the thought of putting that many flowers on a card.  But, I ignored that part and went ahead with my creative plan.  And it ended up pretty darn close to what I pictured in my head.  And isn't it fairly cool when that happens?

So, why not show us what spring means to you and enter the challenge?  And be sure to check out all the lovely makes over at Crafty Boots.
