This is what I did....
We celebrate Christmas so I went with the jolly man himself....he looks like he has a present for all my readers.....aw!! Stamp is from Rubbernecker Stamps and the die cut is from Stamplorations. And both are awesome.
Welp, my friends, that's it for me for this year. As much as I really, really wish I could do more crafting than just LRW DT duties (which I do love doing) I'm afraid it's just not possible for me right now so I won't be back until our 2020 Challenge kick off on January 1st. This is what I did....
I also used the "wild" part of the challenge theme by having a stag on there. (We won't mention that I thought of that just now as I was posting this.)
So, let's talk about this card for a minute. The design is good-gawd-I-really-want-to-use-this-black-snowflake-paper-but-I-don't-have-enough-of-it-so-I'll-just-stick-more-red-plaid-paper-behind-and-pretend-it's-intentional. The BELIEVE is a rub on, an absolutely excellent, high quality rub on...that I stuck my finger on and ended up destroying the one E. Then I picked the pieces of the E off my finger and tried to stick them on the card....crookedly, of course. I markered in the rest. I lost the die cut deer for a brief period as, for some reason, I had put tape runner on the back of it before I needed to and it had gotten stuck too.......wait for it.....the back of the card. It seems, as of late, every time I make a card it's turned into a comedy of errors. Oh well, gives me something to write about, at least. (:

I'd also like the say that this (a little bit drab) photo was brought to you by my cat and the blue jay that was tormenting her by landing on the window sill outside while I was using the window sill on the inside to take this picture. I'll spare you the outtakes of my cat blocking the light, my cat's tail in the photo and my cat's tail battering my card. The most annoying part of it all was the fact that whenever I set her down she could somehow be back up on the window sill before her paws hit the floor.

This is what I did....
I think I've hit my quota with all the snow on there. I used another image from that Close To My Heart garage sale find....it probably actually has a name....brb.....ah, Snow Friends. I adore these darling lil snowguys. Maybe I'll actually end up stamping the whole set?!? That'd be a first. I'm sure most of you will recognize the sentiment tag from LOTV. Love those too.
Had a happy little "accident" when I made this. Take a look at his hat. See, originally I was going to paper piece his hat but it just didn't look right, and also when I was getting the card together, the scalloped circle was a piece of textured cardstock, not that glitter fun foam on there now. When I decided to colour his hat instead, because it was such a small piece to colour, I just grabbed my pencil and went at it. So, it was kinda like a rubbing then with the texture of the cardstock showing through. I'm loving the look it gave to his hat. Definitely gonna try to remember that for another time.

This is what I did.....
I used another find from that "garage" sale I went to back a bit. It's from a Close To My Heart set. I'm impressed with how well their stamps stamp. I know all of you probably already know their quality but I'm an almost exclusive digi user.....and part of the reason why I am is because when I first started my foray into cardmaking I would buy cheapie stamps, so I quickly became disillusioned with the whole inking up a physical stamp process. Who knows, if I hadn't been so reluctant to spend some money I might own an entire mountain of clear/rubber stamps that would slowly be taking over the house.....okay, maybe it's better that I'm into digis.
Gack, I don't know why every card I've made lately has turned into such a time consuming, labour intensive romp. It's like my mojo is still here, and all well and good, but has become ridiculously indecisive. This was basically the layout I had in my head, save the trees. They went through a colour change, size change, became clouds for a bit, then had to finagle the trunks as the die cuts weren't long enough (obviously)....but at least I got there in the end. I got there at 1:12am last night, but I got there nonetheless. (It's times like these when I wish I liked coffee!)

it's yours truly's turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Don't Be Shy!" which just means that I want to see projects with more than two words on them. Lots of ways you can do that...say something more wordy than a simple "happy birthday" or "Merry Christmas" (like "warm birthday wishes" or "Merry Christmas to you"), use a quote instead of a sentiment, use a background word stamp or stencil or you can even use text patterned paper! I'm thinking I'm going super easy on you!
This is what I did.....
As you can see, I wasn't shy at all! I've got some text paper on there as well as a three word + one number sentiment.
This one was a bit of a comedy of errors, it was, it was. Lots of changing of this and that, wasn't going to do a sentiment at all (and just let the text paper do the talking) as I couldn't figure out how to make it work, then when I thought of the vellum idea I had to disassemble the card to bend it around the edges which I did super crookedly....so I had to take it apart again. I'm surprised my dog didn't gasp and cover her ears from the language that was colouring the air. (My cat was in the vicinity as well but, as we all well know, cats think all the swears regularly so she wasn't nonplussed at all about the cursing...she was probably rolling her eyes at my subpar expletive combinations compared with her creativity.)
No stamps were harmed in the making of this card....sentiment is computer generated and the hearts are die cut glitter fun foam. As much as I love that stuff, it is dollar store quality so it flakes off fairly easily and I end up wearing it for a good day or two after I work with it. Not that it's a big deal....I'm just not really the glitter wearing type. At least not at the end of my nose, or in my eyebrow, or (somehow) on my tooth, or......

This is what I did.....
I apologize for this blech photo. Problem lately is that it's just starting to get light when I leave for work in the morning and pretty much dark when I get home. I took this as I was basically racing out the door so I didn't have time to find two other matching sheets of cardstock for the background that weren't white. Oh well, I think you get the idea even if the photo is off.
While I was making this there were a few flakes floating around in the air. Not quite ready for that yet....beginning of November is definitely too early even if these wee Close To My Heart snowman say otherwise. Though, if there is no snow they can't make any new snowfriends so I guess I won't harp on them wishing for it.

the challenge is to make a *grumble* gift tag. *sigh* *whimper* *and sigh again* I know I say it every time but.....I hate making tags because I normally suck at it. It usually takes three or four tries for me to make something usable. And, unfortunately, I just don't have that kind of time these days.
That said, although this did end up with a couple versions in the circular file, I think I got it done in the end....
Now, I seem to have some sort of mental block when it comes to using Tiddly Inks images that are actually available.....numerous times I've used a retired image or one that wasn't quite released yet....and I've done that yet again as this was a past freebie. *another sigh* But, this digi is very similar to the snowman in the Inky Critters set so if you like him you can grab his twin brother there (along with three of his friends).

I went with something a little different this week....
I made origami jack-o-lanterns! They were a little tough to fold seeing as I used patterned paper, which is definitely not origami paper. But, it worked out because then the top folds were all sturdy enough to hang on the string - no gluing required!

This is what I did....
This was a bit of a labour to put together....and it all started with deciding that I wasn't going to do my standard, go-to, do all the flippin' time, card design (see last week's LRW post if you want to see that layout). Coz that's what you should always decide when you're making a card at 11:00pm, right? Anyhoo, I won't bore you with the details of that fight (which left a mess of die cuts all over my desk), especially since (I think) it all worked out in the end. Digi is from a new-to-me artist, Le Petite Market. I love these images. I got lucky and scored a few different sets when they were on sale....I see the sale is now over. Still, the Folk Clipart Animals set this moose is from is only $4.09 cad and includes six different forest animals so it's a darn good bargain as is....that's only 68ø an animal!!
Sentiment is computer generated.....and has made it totally obviously that Kate and I definitely belong on the same DT. (:

Ever have one of those situations where everything manages to fall exactly into place and you actually come up with a project that nails the challenge? So much so that you reward yourself with a bowl of ice cream for lunch because you were such a good DT Member this week? Welp, that was me for this challenge. [Although, in the interest of full disclosure I've also rewarded myself with a bowl of ice cream (or other various treats) for a myriad of "did good" reasons that may or may not include instances like: taking the dog for a walk even though it was (barely) drizzling, waiting until my coworker turned her back before rolling my eyes, remembering to take meat out of the freezer for supper etc.]
So, this is what I did.....

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Cut It Out!". Do I really want you to stop doing something - naw - I want you to cut something out on your project. You know, like die cuts, die cutting machine cuts or even do some fussy cutting. That's not a toughie, right?
This is what I did....
As you can see I did both die cutting & fussy cutting. I won a nice little package in the Season of Giving blog hope back in January and this stamp/die set was part of that. Those little ornaments have die for them too but I didn't care for all the extra around them so I just trimmed it away. I fussy cut the paper piecing too, obviously. Lovely stamps, I must say, that sentiment embossed beautifully. Make me want to buy more clear stamps....then I remember how much space they take up and hustle back to shopping for digis. (:

Autumn is my favourite season. Stamp is from Altenew. I even pulled out some ancient embossing powder and even ancienter mists to make this. What is it about mists that they never dry? I misted this last night and I was wearing ink all over my hands again this morning. (I say "again" coz it's not like I wasn't wearing it last night too.) Between the never-dry mist and the flaking-off glitter from the dollar store fun foam this'll be the card that just keeps on giving for the recipient.

I went straight down the middle with patterned paper, a Tiddly digi and distressing. I used Father's Day Truck....it's only $1.00! It's a perfect image for those masculine cards.

Despite me being a lover and rampant consumer of food I struggled with this theme and had to make two cards as I just couldn't bear posting the one I had originally made for this challenge. It was pretty gawd awful. This one's better but still in the Meh category. I'm gonna do better next week, I promise!

....because, I can't make tags.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that having a challenge about making tags is not a good challenge, it's an excellent one, in fact. But that doesn't change the fact that I can't make tags. This isn't the first time I've come across a make-a-tag DT duties challenge. In the past I've kinda sorta cheated by including a tag on a card. But, this time the challenge was to make an actual tag. So, cue the gif above.
I decided to just knuckle down and git 'er done. It didn't go so well. It didn't go so well four different times. I told myself to just treat the tag like it was a little card and go that route but I decided to give it one last try and came up with this.....
It's hard to tell with this picture but I paper pieced two of the flowers so I could curl up the petals as I thought it looked a little flat. Did some background stamping too....kind of a baby mixed media - mixed media lite, if you will. But, I daresay, it's an actual tag. And it turned out a-okay. (But we won't say that too loud as not to further upset the four other tags in various stages of nakedness & gawdawfulness that are spewed all over my craft desk.)
Flower stamp is from Rubberneckers, it's one of those two step ones but I just used the outline. Sentiment is computer-generated.

I've discovered that the good thing about not really sending cards to people anymore is that I now don't feel like I have to make dual purpose cards.....you know, cards that fit a DT challenge theme as well as a needed card or something that could potentially be needed later (like any occasion or Christmas cards). In the past I probably would have totally picked the song Happy Birthday and made a generic birthday card but now I can go ahead and just make whatever I want. And that's exactly what I did this week with this card....
Now, I betting there's almost no one who knows what song this is from.....except maybe fellow Girlfriend, Kate. And, if she doesn't know the song, I'm betting she'll definitely know the singer. This is a line from "All We Are" by Kim Mitchell. Now, unless you're a fellow Canuck, you probably don't know who Kim Mitchell is. If you're American, and can think back to the '80s, maybe you remember the song "Go For Soda", which was his biggest hit south of the border....if you're Canadian and you're not quite sure who he is think "Patio Lanterns", and if you're from other parts of the globe, well, I'm pretty certain you'll have missed him entirely (which is a bit of a shame).
At work we listen to a '80s & '90s classic rock station and I'm often going, "Oh yeah, I remember that song! And now I remember how awesome it was." That's how I was reminded about this particular song, which is now one of my favourites again. I even brought it to my oldest's attention as I knew he'd probably like it. (He does.) I also watched the official video for the song on YouTube. O. M. G. If you ever want to see pure '80s cheesiness, this video is definitely for you. It has got it all, from '80s rock band hair, soft fades, soulful gazes off into the distance.....and even shows the releasing of fake (whatever passed for CGI back then) doves, which has nothing to do with the song, but everything to do with the '80s. I was thinking about telling my oldest to watch the video but I quickly decided not to. Not having experienced that decade at all, so therefore having no immunity to the '80s, I figured the video might outright kill him. So, I directed him to a recorded live version instead.
Kim Mitchell might have a lost a touch on vocals but he sure can still shred a guitar. And Peter Fredette can still wail, that's for sure. Live or original, it's awesome.
I do realize the song is a bit more melancholy than my card with that happy star digi from Eureka Stamps. Turns out all I have are happy stars. I could have used die cuts instead, I suppose, but I think that picking those two lines made it work out just fine.
