Gotta love those BoBunny Cardstock stickers. I wasn't too happy with the inking around that lined square. Guess that's what happens you get when you forget to ink it before you glue it on the card.

Guest Designer

A couple of weeks ago over at Tuesday Taggers my entry was randomly picked for their weekly winner. Yay! Not only did they send me a parcel of awesomeness I was offered the guest designer spot for this week.

The theme was "bugs" so I decided to get out my quilling supplies and this is what I came up with.

Are you a card hoarder?

When I started making this card I actually had the intention of giving it to someone in particular. (Most of my cards get made just because I feel like making a card so I literally have a whole pile of cards.) Then I decided it wasn't really going to suit the first person so I thought of a different person I would give it to. Now that I have it done, I don't want to give it to anybody. Isn't that silly!?! I'm sure the card would be much happier with someone else who would respect it, not bury it under a bunch of other cards when another favourite comes along.

So, it's my mission to actually give this card to someone (and not me) for their birthday. There.

Next topic: I was at Scrapping Turtle last weekend for their yard sale (which, wasn't in their yard thank goodness, 'cause brrrrrrrrrrrrr). Among other things I picked up some Fiskars texture plates for a steal of a deal and, although I've used them only once, I'm loving them. I can see me using them A LOT. (Still kicking myself for not grabbing that mini sewing machine though.)

Final topic: Okay, feel free to call me (and I'm quoting my kids now) a "cheater, cheater pumpkin eater" for this. (Not that I'll mind too much. I looooooove pumpkin.)

Yellow and black but....

....no bees! That was the colour challenge from Design Dollies this week. I also incorporated their elements challenge and added 3 different types of bling. (stickles, pin and pearls & rhinestones) It's going in Crafty Ann's challenge as well for "for someone special."

Spring/Easter

Check this out: Someone saw some of my work and commissioned me to make a couple of Easter cards, an anniversary card and a birthday card with the promise that she'd want more of my cards in the future!! Okay, it was my mother. Still, she is going to pay for them so a least I'll have a bit of cash to invest in more supplies.

Copics

Last night I had the pleasure of taking a Copics class taught by a wonderful teacher (who shall remain nameless as I don't want her to be afraid that people will blame my ineptitude on her teaching). Turns out colouring is not exactly my forte. Shoulda paid more attention in kindergarten, I guess. Still, since I already invested in some Copics you'll probably be seeing my attempts with them from time to time. Here's one:



A Spooful of Sugar is calling for bookmarks this week so it's the only challenge this will be entered in. *gasp*

I'm not a liar....

...honest! I know a couple of posts ago I said I wasn't going to be as challenge oriented and it looks like nothing has changed. Thing is, I'll find a sketch I like and make a card based on that sketch. After the card is done I'll check out the challenge sites I frequent and see if the card can be entered in any of their challenges. Lately I've just been darn lucky and my card matches with a bunch of challenges besides the sketch.

I have just a small supply of Copics right now so I'm limited as to what types of stamps I can colour. (As you can see by this card I also need practice!) I have ordered more and as soon as the turtle passes them off to the snail I'm sure they'll get here in no time. (My lament on how incredibly long it takes for me to get parcels from the States.) Still I did find this pretty digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps to colour. Check them out, freebies on Fridays and loads of adorable digis for sale.

No Trifecta this week

I thought I might go squirrely trying to figure out how to make a card for the Trifecta over at Design Dollies this week so I just went for a Duo?...Tandem?...Couplet?...Deuce?...Doublet? Yeah, I'm going to go with Doublet.

So it's for the Dollies orange, red + neutral and scraplifting this friendship card from Adina dollie. It's also for Paper Play (thank you card).

Cardmaking Evening

I usually watch some tv after the kidlets go to bed but last night hubby had a buddy over and they took over the tv to watch Ice (beep, beep) Road (beep, beep, beep) Truckers (beep, bee, bee, bee-bee beepity beep). (Just a little joke for anyone who has ever seen Ice Road Truckers.) So, I spent the evening making cards. This is the first. My middle child is always asking, "Why can't you make me a card?" Now I'm prepared for the next time he asks. (Plus it was an easy way to use up some scraps.)



It fits the challenges at TCP for paper piercing and Charisma Cardz for something for the kids.

I thought I'd give a shout out to all the ladies who have recently become followers of my teeny-tiny corner of blogdom. So, here you go.



I used a sketch from Everything But The Kitchen Sink and it also fits the challenge over at Pollycraft Monday Challenge for sparkly.

Musings...

Okay, since it's late (although I won't be posting this until morning since I want to take the picture in natural light) and I can't sleep, I've decided to.....well, babble. I finally have to admit to myself that I need to be a little less challenge oriented and a little more card oriented. There's been lots of times when I'll have a idea for a card, and instead of going ahead with that idea I try to bend that idea to fit as many challenges as possible, to the point, where sometimes, the card doesn't really even resemble the beginning inspiration. And, quite often, I end up being NOT happy with the result.

Take this card for example. Knowing how many green/St. Patty's Day challenges are out there right now I pulled out all my green paper, found I sketch I liked and started brainstorming on how I could make shamrocks. A little voice in my head said, stars. Shhhhhhh, said I. I grabbed one of my Cricut cartridges to see what options I had and again that little voice said, stars. I rolled my eyes and rifled through my meager collection of stamps. Stars. This time the little voice said it while pretending to cough - how mature.

But, little voice had a point. I have to admit, I'm not really into St. Patrick's Day. (No offense to all the Irish out there.) And, stars are pretty great. I mean, who doesn't like stars? You never hear anyone saying, "Stars, ew. I hate how they're so twinkly and bright. I can't believe there's a hit song out there about that. And, what's with them just hanging out in the sky all night? That's just weird."

So stars, it is. And, no green, but blue. And no challenges in mind but the sketch (which is not to say I won't go trolling for challenges after the fact). But, I am happy with it. And, that is what really counts.

Yes, little voice, you were right.



The inside reads ....for Peanut M & Ms. Kidding!! (They are my favourite, though.) It reads ....for you. (Pretty obvious, I know.)

I did happen to find challenges it fits anyway.

New Blinky

My layout was chosen as one of the Top 3 over at Practical Scrappers so I have a new blinky for my blog! Thanks to the DT at PS for picking my lo!

Lucky Bunnies

Okay, this was the card I had originally intended on (see previous post) when the Fun Flock threatened to go on strike if I didn't use it. This card is much more my style. (I shouldn't have given into the Fun Flock's demands and let it walk. Who cares what the neighbours would have said?)

This card actually started off as another card and morphed into this. I'm not happy with that second pink bunny being such a hog with the fun flock but I was afraid that fixing it would only make it worse.

Quick Card

I think this is one of the fastest cards I've ever made. And I even took the time to threaten the beads with dire consequences if they didn't stay glued on.

You know, I thought that song was cheesy when it first came out and wow, can't say my opinion has changed but it's the song that popped in my head when I was looking at my blue card.

My First Layout!!!!

Okay, I'm really geekily excited about this....the debut of my very first layout...yay! Never have done any scrapbooking before but when I saw the Trifecta over at Design Dollies I thought I'd give it a try. Sorry, Dollies, I know my "yellow" is pitful, but I had to scrounge around like crazy for something yellow and that teensy-weensy button was all I could find!

Simple spring

This card is quite simple, rather plain really. When I make cards like this I usually can't leave well enough alone, I always try to add more to make it grander. This time I just pulled my hands off and said, "it is what it is."
