Question for you: Do you ever roll your eyes at your own sense of humour? I swear, when I was making this the much more mature version of me inside of me rolled her eyes so hard that she actually injured herself.

But she's no fun at all so I completely ignored her and did this....

....made it so the horse could wiggle. And, that still wasn't enough so I did this on the inside....

The childish side of me triumphs again! Ha ha, suck it Mature Version!

Hmmm.....Mature Version obviously has to teach Childish Version some manners.

Child's Play @ Little Red Wagon

This is what I did....

...made a Valentine's Day card for my son, who probably won't find the play on words as funny as I do and most definitely won't find me saying to him, "Do you get it? A bot! That's instead of a lot. Isn't that hilarious?!? Well, isn't it? How come you're not laughing? It's soooooo funny!" as amusing to him as it will be for me.

Not Your Typical Valentine

I'm going to say that the weather made me do it. Stoopid stormy, blowy, roads-closed, making-me-do-a-bunch-of-extra-work weather. You'd think I lived in a snowbelt in southwestern Ontario or something.

Keep It Clean & Simple @ Little Red Wagon

Joanne wants to see CAS. So, tone it down, leave some "white" space, go really easy on the embellies etc. etc. etc. (But not too many etc. We are going for the less is more theme here. *snort*)

This is what I did.....

This is actually less cas than what I normally do for cas. Usually, I go super-cas when I do cas. Still, thinking this qualifies too.

Digi is from Bugaboo Stamps.  And, I'm gonna mention that this card is for my middle kiddo who is turning 11 today.  Now, I don't have many digital pics of him from his younger years (we didn't get a digital camera until he was a bit older...and yes, I know I could just scan a photo but I'm the first one who will tell you that I'm lazy) but I did find this one on my computer.  He's about two and a half in this picture.  It's titled:

What Happens When Dad is Supposed To Be Watching The Kids 

That is grease, my friends. I'm just happy he didn't decide to use it in his hair when he made himself that mustache and beard.

But I digress so.....

I Like Mondays

Now, I know some of you will want to lynch me for uttering that statement, but it's true. For me, Mondays mean the end of the chaotic weekend with the going here, going there; weekend chores; kids at home saying, "I'm bored, can we do something?" and all that kind of thing. As I work mostly from home, work is always here. And while I don't do hours and hours of work on weekends, I do do (*snicker* Omg, I wish I didn't channel a 9 year old boy's sense of humour so often.) some work over the weekend. Mondays mean a return to quiet and I can concentrate much better on the work rather than trying to get something quickly completed while listening to a 10 minute lecture on how to feed which food to which doll at what time, while also making lunch and making sure the kid who is supposed to be in his room reading the book for his book report isn't playing Clash of Clans on his iPod instead.

And, I really like Mondays when I have to wait to receive some paperwork so I have just enough time to sneak in this blog post to show you this......

Radiant Orchid @ Little Red Wagon

Rosanne wants to see a card that's inspired by Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2014 which is Radiant Orchid, or as us laymen like to call it, purple.

I really like the concept for this challenge. But, I being so absolutely not in the know (as usual), had to Google the Colour of the Year. I had guessed by the name that it would be purple but wanted to make certain, of course. What I didn't expect was the adjective-laden description of said colour. Really, who writes those things? Honestly, I wish there was some way someone could make a  physical manifestation of Radiant Orchid, as I now do believe that said manifestation could solve world hunger, broker world peace, cure every known disease and teach me the proper way to fold a fitted sheet....all before lunchtime.

But, I will say, it's a pretty colour. (Don't tell it I said that though as I think with all the fawning it's probably well on its way to being completely narcissistic as it is.)

And, I made a card inspired by it.....(Don't tell it that either.)

Remembering 2013

Linda at Catered Crop is having a cool linkup this month. She's even created a badge for it.

Now, I normally don't do these types of posts. I figure if you looked at something I made once, I wasn't going to subject you to it again. But, I find looking at other people's fave really interesting. And, one of the things I find really interesting, is the fact that their faves of their work aren't necessary my faves of their work.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not meaning I've ever said, "That's one of your faves?!?!" No way, I usually oooh and ahhhh over every single one of a fellow crafter's picks. 'Cause you're all fabulous. But, sometimes what they pick surprises me. It shouldn't really, we're all different after all (some of us more than others....I'm talking about me here) and we all have different tastes. And I know sometimes it can be the process of the work that makes something a person's fave or even how they felt when they made it; how close it was to the vision in their head; or why they made it or who they made it for etc. etc. etc. And, it's not like those factors come across in the photo on the screen. And I find that really interesting too.

So, I decided to do a post of my faves last year for two reasons. One was when I looked back over my blog for the year I actually found some cards I liked and two was because I know for a fact that some of my faves most definitely weren't your faves (according to your comments, and blog traffic etc.). And there were some cards I made that I didn't like at all that some of you thought were wonderful. (To which I thought you were all nuts.)

So, enough with the set up, here's my 10 faves.....

If I was techie inclined I could have probably made each photo on the collage clickable so you could go to the original blog post but since I'm not I'll list 'em below.  And I thought I'd mention why they were my faves...

1.  Magical Birthday - I just liked the way this turned out.  I had used what few big pieces (and a bunch of scraps as well) that were left of my fave 6x6 pad of all time, MME Lime Twist, and it's a Tiddly Inks digi, so that almost guarantees it as a fave of mine right there.

2.  iHop - This was for an online challenge at my fave scrapbook store, Two Scrapbook Friends, and the challenge was to create something....gee, now I'm drawing a blank....I think it had to do with the i franchise.  Anyway, it's a play on words, those always tickle me.  Plus it was an actual stamped image, not a digi, so that made it stand out a bit for me.

3.  Hoppy Easter (From the Heart Stamps) - Another one that I like how it turned out.  Plus my dd, who the card was for, thought it was "soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute, Mommy!" which made it a winner for me.

4.  Happy Mother's Day - I think it's pretty.  Nuff said.

5.  Gnomie (MelonHeadz Illustrating) - This turned out exactly like it was supposed to.  Like exactly.  Plus it's another play on words, so me likey.

6.  Mad Hatter - Everything on this card just fit.  The Mad Hatter (from Some Odd Girl), the weird/funky paper, the quote, the clocks - all Alice in Wonderland.  I'm not even a fan, haven't even read the book, but having it all make sense like that.....made sense.

7. Cup of Kitty - Again, Tiddly Inks.  And again, came out like it was supposed to.  Plus I was able to use up a bit of my flower stash so a bonus there.

8.  Brains - Ummm...hello...it's a zombie (from Birdie Brown) , so that in itself = a fave of mine.  [Not that I actually like zombies.  They creep me out.  But I do like The Walking Dead (but I'm a season behind 'cause we don't get AMC so don't talk to me about it!!) and I liked World War Z so I like zombies from a distance.] Plus putting the sentiment across the digi - that did it for me.

9.  Our Home (Tiddly Inks) - Something different than the usual.  Discovering colouring on textured cardstock - yay!  Textured effect paste - yay!  Liking the card - yay!

10.  Joy - Super cute digi from...you guessed it, Tiddly Inks.  Loving the colours on this one plus I sewed all those panels fairly decently and the one I really messed up on I could cover up with the sentiment - score!

All Purpose Card @ Little Red Wagon

it's my turn for the challenge and I picked all purpose card.

I must apologize, I've been working a lot of hours these last couple of weeks so it's cut'n'paste time......

You know what I mean, a card that doesn't celebrate a specific holiday or event; one you could give to pretty much anyone at any time. So, no "Happy Birthday" sentiments or cakes; no "Welcome Baby" type cards; no "Thank You"s expressed. Keep those sentiments generic like, "Hello, Friend" or "Smile" or "Just a Note" or maybe a quote of some kind.....or perhaps no sentiment at all!

New Beginnings @ UnstampaBelles

Well, we're a few days into 2014 now, (some of us more than others she says as a nod to her Australian friends :-) ) so it's time for a new challenge at UnstampaBelles. That challenge is "New Beginnings" and there's also a twist - to use a new item, technique or product.

I went with this birthday card for my uncle who turned 60. 60 was a big new beginning for him as he quit his job to start his own business, plus he's got a grandchild on the way. So, I thought the sentiment "Celebrate 60" was pretty fitting.

I used a couple of things for my twist....those screw brads (or half-brads when I got done with them) are new stash. I also tried a new technique. I know you've seen me use my Silhouette Sketch Pens before, but I've never tried them on a small shape like that pennant. Now I can draw a word on any shape I want, in exactly the place I want to - awesome!
