Button It Up @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to chose the challenge and she's saying, "Button It Up". She not asking us to be quiet or more modest though....she just wants to see buttons on your projects.

This is what I did....

And the cool part is (other than the rib-tickling pun, of course) is that the horse is on an Action Wobble so it's extra fun - yay!

So why not pull out some buttons and join us for the challenge?  Then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Kraft-Tastic @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to host the challenge and I'm saying, "Kraft-Tastic!" (Not to confused with "crap-tastic", which is a word I've been know to utter from time to time.) I'm sure you've guessed it already....I want to see projects using kraft paper.

This is what I did....

I'm sure everyone recognizes that stamp from Tim Holtz. It's one of the very few physical stamps I own as I'm pretty much a total digi girl.  And, as you can see, I stamped both image and sentiment on kraft paper.  Getting some Christmas cards done here and there to make December easier.

So why not pull out some of your kraft paper and join us for the challenge? Head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

I gots nothing.

I guess I'll let my card be the witty one today.  Well, those who don't think puns are clever might not think it's witty.

But they'd be wrong.

Tag, You're It! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Sandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Tag, You're It!" (Of course the kid in me is screaming, "No touch-backs!" after that sentence.) I'm sure you've guessed the theme....yep, she wants to see tags!

Anyone who's been hanging around here for any length of time probably remembers how I feel about tags. Not my fave.....but that's 'coz I'm terrible at making them. So terrible in fact that a couple year back I thought I'd make tags for all my Christmas gifts and they were soooooooooo horrible that I didn't even use them on our own gifts here. The Dollar Store peel-'n'-stick ones were loads better than what I had made.

But, seeing as this comes up as a DT challenge now and again, I do have a work-around for myself. A teeny cheat....

....I just make teeny tags. Digi is from Lori Boyd.

So, why not play some tag with us and enter the challenge? Then you can head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

For the next two weeks at

we're celebrating all things manly & boy-y! That's right, we want to see you make "One For the Boys"....using a Tiddly Inks image, of course.

I got all technical and merged two images.....

Masculine @ Melonheadz Friends

For the next two weeks at

http://melonheadzfriends.blogspot.ca/

we want to see those masculine projects! Now, I know a lot of you say you have difficulty with masculine makes but I rather enjoy making them. I think it's 'coz they suit my clean & layered style. Or maybe it's just 'coz I'm too lazy to get all frou-frou and chic-chic with my makes. :-)

Anyhoo, this is what I did....

I used I used a past freebie for this but if you'd like to see all the fabulous Melonheadz images just click on over to the Etsy shop.

So, why not shove aside the frills and lace, sugar and spice and all things nice and enter the challenge? And be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has made.

Help! My Mouse Is Possessed! - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

Yes, my computer mouse I'm meaning, of course, not an actual mouse. Although, living in a turn-of-the-last-century fieldstone farm house, we have had more than our share of mice up in here, though none of them have been "possessed". But, taking into consideration how many mice I've, shall we say, euthanized, in my 22 years living in this house, included two that I actually cooked in my oven (I'll give a brief account of that below) then I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't at least some poltergeistic mice drifting through the walls, plotting revenge.

But, no, as I said above, it's my computer mouse that's giving me grief. I need a new one obviously, and I better get one soon because, sure as anything, the way this one is acting, (needing forceful and slow left clicks to get any response, having the right button thinking it's the back button on my browser every time it's pushed and having the cursor drifting across the page on its own) it'll suffer the same fate as the last one did...slammed on the desk in frustration with a good portion of the bottom breaking off.

So, what does that have to do with my Fab Friday card? Absolutely nuthin'. But it does make typing this post trying. And I really had nothing else to talk about.

Anyhoo, here's my card....

I used one of my fave Tiddly Inks, the snowman from Inky Critters.  Love this guy.

Okay, so to explain the cooking of the mice.....first of all I'm wondering.....does the fact that I get mice in my house make it sound like my house is dirty?  I know no one who lives in the country will think that but it makes me wonder if city dwellers do.  Just to clarify, I'm certainly not a bleach and disinfect everything housecleaner, and maybe don't look to closely in the nooks and crannies, but if you stopped by, even unannounced, it's not like you'd be saying "ew".  Now that I got that outta the way I feel a little better about telling this story.....

So, yes, I've cooked mice in my oven twice.  Somehow mice could get inside my old oven.  First time was pretty uneventful.  Turned on the oven to preheat, heard some scrabbling and scrambling from inside, waited until the oven had reached 350º (and maybe waited ten minutes after that as all I could picture was the mouse flying out for cool air and freedom and hitting me right square in the face) and opened the door, and yep, dead mouse.  Had stovetop supper that night, for sure.

Second time it was a little more of an adventure.  It was Christmas Eve and I had just pulled supper out of the oven when a mouse climbed out of the one (coil) element and was slowly dragging itself away.  I was freaking out (not that I'm scared of mice, but it's not like I wanted to deal with it either, and I was trying to get supper away from it before decided to climb in or something), my youngest two were no help (I didn't figure they would be) so I was hollering for my oldest as I grabbed a bowl, inverted it, and trapped the mouse.  I ended up dealing with it myself (plastic bag in one hand, never-used meat tenderizer in the other.....but it was already dead, from the heat obviously) as my oldest was upstairs in the bathroom....and apparently laughing too hard to hurry up to help.

So, that's my mouse-roasting story.  I have a new oven now, so hopefully that problem is solved.  And it's got a ceramic top, so nothing will be surprising me by climbing out it at least.  As for the computer mouse issue.....I do still have that meat tenderizer.....

Make sure you go check out the other fabulous Fabby Friday makes the rest of the DT has come up with.  You can see 'em all right here.

Fit It In! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Kate's turn to chose the challenge and she's got an interesting one for us! She wants us to "Fit It In" which means she wants to see projects using the inlaid die technique.

I really do like the look of this technique but I have to admit, it gave me a bit of grief as it's not exactly in my wheelhouse. I tried two separate times, and both were gawd awful. So, I decided to go with something simple, something not much more different than what I would normally make....

(Sorry for the yellow based photo!)  Digi is from Birdie Brown, who is no longer in business. :-( As you can see I fancied up my patterned paper by inlaying a star border die. I must say, I do like the look of it. And, even though this is the very first time I've done this technique, I do have a tip to share.....if you're going to do something along this line, you'll save yourself A LOT of aggravation if you chose a matching background to your inlaid die. Am I explaining that well? If you look closely at the card you'll see that the star border has little itsy-bitsy-squinchie-tiny cut outs in the middle of it. The space between the stars....see them? Now, imagine if I had used a different colour of cardstock for the base, say white, or orange or whatever....then I would have had to save all the itsy-bitsy-squinchie-tiny pieces of patterned paper to fit back into those holes or else the cardstock would shone through like a thousand hot suns. But, since the cardstock is the same colour as the patterned paper, you don't notice it. Or, you wouldn't notice it if I hadn't basically pointed at it and screamed, "Hey, look! I'm kinda cheating here!" Though really, should we call it cheating? More like a sanity-saver. Can't even image having to fit all the itsy-bitsy-squinchie-tiny pieces back in there without freaking out and chucking the whole thing. And then there would have been three failed attempts.

So, why not use your dies a least twice and enter the challenge? Then you can head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.
