Bette Davis Eyes @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Kate's turn to choose the challenge and she's continuing to take us on a trek through the music of the 80s by saying, "Bette Davis Eyes" which just means that she would like to see a face (or faces) on your project.

This is what I did.....

Made this for my Middlest who graduated (with Honours every year!) from grade 12.  They are planning a Commencement....grad ceremonies at schools 'round here have always taken place in the late fall (usually November), so hopefully it will be able to go ahead.  Middlest decided to not apply to college/university this year....he's not just sure yet what he wants to take.....and besides, back when applications were due, it was looking pretty grim for in-person attendance at any post-secondary schools due to the pandemic.  I think he'd quite enjoy urban/regional/rural planning but I don't know if he's ever looked into it when I suggested it....afterall, what would I know about what he might excel at.....I've only known the child for 18 1/2 years.  *sigh*  I do know when I went with him in the transport truck (as he's gotten his AZ license and works for our company) he spent a good portion of time complaining about the bypass in the city he was delivering to, including placement of lights, curbs and the bypass itself.  So, I'm thinking, I'm pretty durn close with thinking a career in Planning might be something he's suited for.  Not stuck behind a desk the whole time, and the ability to use that big brain of his....sounds like a plan to me.  I'll just have to get someone else to suggest it to him.  lol  (Hmmmm....that paragraph makes my Middlest sound a bit ornery....in truth he's awesome, very easy-going....but if you know of an 18 year old who actually thinks their mom might know a thing or two about what they might like....welp, I'd love to meet them.  (: )

Digi is from Bugaboo Stamps....and I can't link to them because their site is down....and a quick little detective-like search has made me suspect that the shop is closed.  Does anyone know anything about that?  I really hope it hasn't shut down.  You'll be able to hear me wail clear across Blogland if it has.  Bugaboo Stamps were my first digi stamp purchase and I do so love Jodi's images.  I will be super duper sad if they have gone out of business.

Stay Cool! @ Little Red Wagon

  This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Stay Cool!" which just means she wants to see projects showing ways to stay cool....like swimming, fans, being in the shade or.....

....burying yourself in sorbet, like this bunny did!  He's even got an umbrella (paper-pieced to add dimension) to add shade.  And, I've got some popsicles on that patterned paper too, as well using the actual challenge theme as the sentiment.....being extra DTy this week, I am!

I've actually has this digi for ageeeeeeeees, I bought it from Zlatoena Designs on Etsy.  Her shop is not active at the moment but I know she designs for The Cat's Pajamas.  Let me see if this is stamp is available there.....well, I don't see this digi in particular but there are a number of other ones featuring this sweet bunny [including him holding a very impressive (aka JanR-sized) ice cream cone!] so I'll link to there anyhow.

Maybe you could help me settle something with myself, Dear Readers.  Are those straws or cookies in that green sorbet?  Originally, I thought they were straws....but then didn't really think you'd have straws in a bowl of ice cream/sorbet.....so this time I decided that they are cookies (as I believe the last time I coloured up this digi yeeeeeeeears ago I made them out to be straws)....'cept they're awfully skinny to be cookies.  Certainly not JanR-sized cookies, that's for sure.

CASE Someone! @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "CASE Someone!" which just means that I want you to let another crafter inspire your project!  It could be one specific creation from them or you could CASE their style or favourite technique.  You could even CASE a make of your own if you want!

This is what I did....

I CASEd this card from Hannelie of Desert Diva.  I just thought it was so classy and perfect to make a birthday card for a very lovely fellow crafter.  In fact, I even used a freebie sentiment from Hannelie's blog.  Couldn't resist making an envelope too, since I had the perfect paper for it.  The image is from the Silhouette Design Store and digitally coloured.  I do like this look, and I really should try it again.  Only thing is, it uses a buttload of black ink!  Thicker cardstock is definitely recommended as it would hold up better.  Or, maybe a laser printer rather than an inkjet would have a better time of it.  Still, it all worked out well enough for me.  (:

Mid-Way To Christmas @ Little Red Wagon

 This week at

it's Chrissy turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Mid-Way To Christmas" which just means that she wants to see those Christmas projects!

Today it was about 38ÂșC with the humidex so I could use some winter vibes....Chrissy, on the other hand, was saying it looked like it was thinking of snowing (in New Zealand) earlier this week.  Two very opposite ends of the weather spectrum!

Anyhoo, this is what I did.....

Didn't actually go with anything cooling....but we can pretend that all that white cardstock is snow, right?  Did lots of paper piecing with this digi from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.  (Note:  When I popped over to the shop to get the link, I see there's an announcement that the current store is closing.  I'll let those interested head over and read more about that....but, I wanted to let you know that all digis and files are on for $1.00 if you wanna score on that deal!)  Then I just added a pompom on the hat and called 'er done.
