Layer Upon Layer! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and I'm saying, "Layer Upon Layer!" which just means I want to see those projects with multiple layers.  So, pile it on!

I decided I would do a card type that definitely needs lots of layers.....

.....a shaker card!  I do love shaker cards.  So, let's see....how many layers....well, if you count the foam tape and sequins/chunky glitter/beads as layers (which I am, but I'm not counting the Scor-Tape, tape runner or glue adhesives), from the card base bottom to the gold star on top, it's 10 layers.  Told you shaker cards needed lots of layers.  (:

It's hard to tell in this picture, but the patterned paper in the shaker element is the same as the patterned paper on top of the card base, except the stars are gold.  I also foiled the word 'WONDER' in gold.  Sentiment was made by me in Canva.

Why not give our challenge a go this week and join us?  And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

No Snow Christmas! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

I've got the hosting duties and the challenge is "No Snow Christmas!" which just means that we would like to see a December holiday card.....but with no snow!  I'm betting Girlfriends Brenda and Chrissy are liking this challenge seeing as their Decembers are snow-free.  (:

This is what I did.....

I went a little grungy for this make, and definitely went overboard with the splatter.  And, of course most of the splatter ended up on the part of the card where the least amount of splatter should be.  I also realized I made a mistake....I'm not gonna say what it is coz if you don't see it I don't want to point it out.  It's an easy fix though, but not worth it for me to go through the whole photographing/editing process again.  😜  Digi is from Stamplorations.

Balloons! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Doni's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Balloons!" which means, you guessed it, she wants to see balloons on your project.

This is what I did.....

I went with a baby card.  I've had this baby bear with balloons for so long it's from back when I first started cardmaking, before I thought to add the artist's name to a file, so I'm not sure where this digi is from.  If anyone knows, please do leave a comment.

Bah....there's that blue twine being all naughty again.  I'm thinking I'm gonna trim that one tail before I send this to anyone.  Can't believe I didn't notice that until now.

Square or Rectangle! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Square or Rectangle!" which means she'd like to see projects using those shapes.

This is what I did.....

I make the majority of my card square, so that's what I decided to go with for this challenge.  But, I just noticed, I did sneak some rectangles on there too with the way I did the sentiment.  This image was a freebie from Artherapie.  I do find it difficult to colour match blues.  Wish I had went with a darker blue for the birds now that I see it on screen.  Next time!  (;

Birthdays! @ Dragonfly Dreams

I was given the opportunity to be a Guest Designer at

and I accepted, of course!  This month the challenge is "Birthdays!" and I think we all know someone who has one of those.  With my GDT make, I decided to answer a very important crafting question which is.....Is there such a thing as too much foil?

And the money shot.....

Well, my opinion on the matter is that there's no such thing as too much foil!  Although, I will say that getting a worthy photo of a foiled creation is pretty much impossible.  I will also say that I was surprised, and quite impressed, with the fact that the stripes on the candles actually showed with the foiling....I never even thought that'd be an option.  I intended this to be an inlaid die card.....but I messed that up.  I thought it would be cool to slightly offset the white backing cardstock die cut and then slightly offset the black backing cardstock die cut.  Yeah, it would be cool...if I wasn't trying to fit the die cut back into the original spot!  D'oh!  Add to that the fact that I forgot to keep track of the cut outs under the H, A and P and was too lazy to search my incredible messy desk.  I remembered I had bought some foil cardstock and decided to use it behind the sentiment instead.  Then I decided that it needed a little somethin' more and went with adding the 'to you'.  And then I decided the plain black 'to you' didn't look right so I foiled it too - ha!  And that, my friends, is how you make a totally total foiled card.  (:

Thanks so much to Dragonfly Dreams for inviting me to join them!  If you would like to join the challenge, you can head to their blog.  While you're there, be sure to check out the fabulous makes from the DT.
