This week at
it's my turn to pick the challenge and I decided on "Make It Punny" which means I want to see puns and/or word plays....hmmmmm....or is that plays on words?? (I'm sure Tammy, our resident English teacher, is cringing right now. ;-) ) Anyhoo, you know what I mean, stuff like "birthday fishes" or "thanks a latte" etc.
Now, I love a good pun or word play. The cornier the better, I usually snicker at them all. So, this is what I did....
So that's the outside, of course. And here's the inside....
I couldn't just stop there. Just not quite punny enough. So I also made an envelope.
I didn't get it on the envelope quite where I wanted it...but it was close enough that I wasn't going to bother doing it again. (Plus I'm kinda hording my black glitter Silhouette pen so do-overs are definitely out. :-) )
I feel kinda braggy saying this but....this is one of my favourite cards. I know you might be looking at it and saying, "meh" but I love it. I don't know whether it's the primary colours....I'm guessing they're appealing to my inner six year old almost as much as the word play is, or the layout (which was very inspired by
Mary J, in fact not only was I inspired by the layout of her fabulous cards, it was about five minutes after I saw
this card that I stared making my card), or the fact that I liked my colouring job or what.
I sent this card to a lovely
blog-friend who just moved into a new home. And, isn't giving a card to a cardmaker the best? They always know how much gets put into crafty projects so they are always wonderfully generous with praise and gratitude. Plus, she was thrilled with the postage stamp on the card, a beaver, which I didn't even really notice. I guess, since I'm Canadian and I'm used to seeing beavers all the time.....they're often wandering through my backyard, and I have an uncle that has one as a pet (and yes, he does turn some heads when he takes her out for a walk, but I think that has more to do with the pink gem-studded leash than anything else)......I honestly didn't even notice there was a castor canadensis on the stamp. But I'm glad she liked that too.
So, why not head on over to
Little Red Wagon and enter the challenge? And be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have done.
P.S. I'm totally kidding about the beavers, btw.
