This week at
it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Anything Neutral in Colours!" which means she wants to see projects that are mainly in those neutral colours.....black, white, kraft, beige etc.
This is what I did.....
I've been on a roll with these tags. Figured it made sense to knock a few out while I had all the supplies on my desk. Penguins and pennant are an unbranded dies, the larger tags are Your Next Stamp (closed).
Story time.....For the past couple of Christmases, I've gifted a dinner out to one of our family's favourite restaurants to my babies and sub-babies to be enjoyed in January. One of the reasons I stipulate in January is because the restaurant runs a promotion where if you visit in November or December you get a 'red envelope' that contains a prize. The prize is anything from a complimentary drink to a free weekly meal for a year. These envelopes have to be opened at the restaurant in January. We made plans to go the Saturday before last but when we got there, the place was a zoo! Wait time for a table was an hour and 15 minutes. Needless to say, we decided we'd go back another time.
Since we didn't want to have a repeat of that Saturday (the restaurant doesn't allow reservations for Saturdays), we decided to visit during the week. Made plans for Thursday but wicked blowing snow closed a number of roads, as well as the highway to the restaurant. Decided to go Friday, roads still weren't open. By Friday night I was stomping around the house saying, "If I don't get Pebbles and to see my grandbaby tomorrow I'm gonna start a war."
Saturday came with sunshine and way less windy conditions so we headed off to go for lunch. My middlest drove, which was a nice change as I'm always going places solo, so I'm always driving. I joked with him that one day he'd need to install running boards on his pick up, or he'd have to start carrying a stool so I could get into his truck. Enjoyed a nice ride up to the restaurant. We got there a couple of minutes early, and waited as my oldest, his wife and son backed into the parking spot beside us. I went to get out of the truck and.....well, to use a very Canadian saying, absolutely ate sh&t. (For those not familiar with that Canuck colloquialism, it means to fall down hard, most often used when slipping on snow or ice.)
So, there I was sitting in the snow, left arm still holding on to the armrest on the truck door (which was quite a stretch) other hand still clutching my 'red envelopes' (you know, because priorities). When I went down, I remember hearing various noises and exclamations from my dining companions. Then someone asked, "Did you just fall?" To which I replied, "No, I just decided to sit down here in the snow" in a very rude tone. (As a rule, I'm not a rude person, but I was fairly shocked and had yet to see if I was broken.) Found out later, my sub-baby, who was riding in the passenger seat in front of me, couldn't see me and thought maybe in my haste to see my grandbaby, I was already around to the other side of my oldest's truck and had left my door open.
By this time, my oldest had gotten around to where I was to see if I was okay. And, by golly, I actually was. He helped me up, made sure I had my footing, and into the restaurant we went. Once I stopped marveling at the fact that nothing was broken, and I really wasn't even hurt (save for a bit of stiffness and a couple of bruises on my back) I started to become concerned about how much of my backside was wet from the snow and how much might be from.....other reasons, even though I was pretty sure it was only barely worse than those times I've sneezed without taking the proper precautions. (I don't think I'm the only one who has to do that 'crouch and protect' stance if sneezing while standing up.)
There was a bit of a line up when we went in so I bypassed it and made a beeline to the washrooms. Got sorted.....and decided going commando would be the best option. In the process, I was thinking to myself that having an 'in case of emergency' pair of undies tucked into my purse would be a good business decision.....then I paused and pulled my purse of the bathroom door hook and checked the spot where I had thought I would stash a pair....and triumphantly pulled out fresh undies. Sometimes past me is a FREAKING GENIUS.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. Stuffed myself silly, collected my won loaf of fresh baked bread and sat blissful in the back seat in a food coma. Though I must say, did I ever slide out of the truck ever so carefully at our next stop. Pretty sure past me didn't stash two pairs of underwear in my purse.
