A couple of weeks ago I was honoured to be asked to be a Guest Designer over at...
...of course, I said yes. I link up to their challenges quite a bit so gdt'ing was a no-brainer. The challenge is "Spring Is In the Air" which means that we want to see what spring means to you.
Spring means a lot of things to me......mud (yuck), flies (the joys of having a old fieldstone farmhouse, they come out in the spring for about a month and annoy me to no end), yard clean up (branches, and even more this year due to the recent ice storm, stones from the snowblower, dog....well, you know).....
But, that is more the very, very beginning of spring. Like the now.....the spring before I even consider spring really started. 'Coz even though the calendar tells us spring starts on March 21st 'round here that's really still winter. Or Pre-Spring, if you will. And you can't really make a card outta all the aforementioned anyways. Well, you could, I guess....but not only would no one remotely want to see it, I sure wouldn't want to make it.
So, let's just skip past all the before-spring-is-really-spring mess. After all, spring isn't really in the air until you can actually feel it in the air. So, I'm fast-forwarding my challenge make to sometime in May. When spring feels like spring. And this is what I made.....
Did something very different from my usual. I mean, there's more flowers on this one card than I would probably use on a year's worth of my cards. But, when I heard the challenge was "Spring Is In the Air" a vision of what I wanted to do popped into my head, and most of me nodded and said, "Stupendous idea!" Of course there was one little bit of me that was all like this....
....at the thought of putting that many flowers on a card. But, I ignored that part and went ahead with my creative plan. And it ended up pretty darn close to what I pictured in my head. And isn't it fairly cool when that happens?
So, why not show us what spring means to you and enter the challenge? And be sure to check out all the lovely makes over at Crafty Boots.

I love it when my project turns out just as I planned it. This is so effective, the background is mesmerising and the flowers look stunning against it. Thanks for being a guest designer at Crafty Boots Challenges this week.
ReplyDeleteHA! i'm still snortling over the flower face up there. not to worry, i'm easily using enough flowers for both of us most of the time, lol!!! and yes, it is fairly neato when you have a picture in your head & manage to get it out of there and onto paper!!!!!!!!!!! congrats! but this card is just flat-out awesome no matter what, so there's that, too! :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHA!! You make me laugh girl!! Well regardless of the look you may have had on your face, I'm so glad about all the flowers!! You should definitely channel your inner flower girl more often because this is gorgeous! Love your criss cross panels, I have a similar style coming to the blog quite soon...great minds think alike and all that!! It's great being a co-guestie with you this week. hugs :)
