it's Mandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Let's Get Inky!" and what she means by that is that she wants to see us use our inks for something other than just stamping.
And, I think she also means, "Ha ha ha ha ha, Jan, good luck with this one! *insert evil laughter here*". If you've noticed, I'm not really an inky gal. Heck, I almost never use inks, only ink I usually use is what's in my printer. That's okay, I'll get my revenge on her though.....when it's my turn to host for my next three challenges I'm thinking I'll go with, "Masculine", "Shabby Chic" and "No Lawn Fawn or Mama Elephant Products Allowed". *insert my evil laughter here*
Anyhoo, I did manage to pull something off for the challenge.....I did a modified Magical Masking Tape technique. It's modified because I couldn't find the masking tape. And when my kids were asked who took it, they told me that that pesky imp Not Me must have struck again. Yep, Not Me is making projects with masking tape AND my left handed scissors (Don't even get me started on that!! I'll bet Not Me isn't even left handed....like everyone else in my house except for me.) and having a blast. But I digress. I used washi tape rather than masking tape. Got a much smoother lay down of ink, I'm thinking, but that's more what I wanted anyway.....
I also heat embossed the sentiment. I figured if I was going to get ink out anyways might as well make it worthwhile.
I don't know what's with my dark photos lately, whether there's something up with my camera or I just am picking the wrong time of day to take pictures or what. Sadly I had to mail this one straight away so I couldn't wait to try to get a better one.
I'm betting you're not as ink-phobic as I am so, why not whip something up and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up. And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

You're too funny, Jan! Mandy will get a kick out of your post!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a fabulous job with the challenge. The technique worked well with your improvised masking method!
Hahahaha! Well after all that.....your card turned out fantastic Jan!!!
ReplyDeleteSympathy cards are never easy and you've done this one well. Appropriately sober and yet elegant, too. I don't know what image processing software you use, but since you've got a white background, you can always adjust the white balance and that will brighten that photo right up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Shani! I do some photo editing before I post....thing is lately it seems the photo is decent when I take it but then when I put it on my computer it's so dark and you can only brighten it so much, kwim? What I really need to do is retake the photo....but sometimes just don't have the time to go through the whole process again. :-)
DeleteWell your card turned out well Jan and how is it there are so many 'not me's' around. They always blame the Borrowers in our house and apparently they are left handed like me as well. Ahh the joys of life
ReplyDeleteThe Borrowers - ha, love it!
DeleteJan, your sense of humour always makes me laugh when I read your great posts. Only me and my hubby live here but that NOT ME comes to our house too (and they are always left handed like me...go figure). Anyhow, the masking tape worked and your card is great for the ink challenge. Hugs, my friend.
ReplyDeleteReading your post made my day. You are always introducing me to new artists and now a new technique...gotta go look it up because it turned out wonderfully. (Still chuckling)
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!!! Thanks Janice! ... Your card is fabulous and see it wasn't as bad a root canal! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! Love your card!
