This week at
it's Chrissy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Flower Power!" which means that she wants to see flowers on your project.
I don't know why I always have a hard time with flower challenges. There's lots of times I've used flowers on a card.....and in all kinds of different ways too. For some reason though, when I haaaaaave to make something featuring flowers, it's a struggle. Buuuuut, I think this time, I might've got there in the end.....
Not what I originally set out to do, but I think I've got the flower theme covered.
When I went spelunking in my Christmas stamps & dies drawer I came across a set of dies from Honey Bee Stamps. I believe they were purchased some time ago with a gift certificate I had won. I couldn't believe I had never used them before....that is until I cut out that very skinny Christmas. It looks great but it is quite fiddly. Flower die is from Your Next Stamp.
Remember when tulle was (briefly) popular for cards? I still do love it.....mostly because it ties a perfect bow every time. The problem with tulle though is you ain't getting it inside an envelope. I once bought some lovely clear card boxes for the express purpose of being able to mail cards such as these. I only mailed one. It cost almost $20!! I could have drove to the place the card was going for less than that. (To note, that was about four years ago. You know, back when gas prices weren't outrageous.) Yeah, so keep your tulle limited for those hand delivered makes.
So, why not give our challenge a go this week and join us? And, if you'd like more inspiration, be sure to check out what the Girlfriends have made.

Oh, now that is nice!!! I like it, flowers & Christmas...you cannot go wrong there!!! And I like the tulle bow, too. I get you though on mailing these kind of bulky things. I used to do lots of bows, but like you said...too expensive to mail.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Jan, lovely floral papers and sweet little flower, AND you made Christmas which never even entered my mind so wasn't expecting snow or anything..mailimg, well yes, I mailed a card to UK the other week and just because it had a Bee on it, the lady charged me $6.80..sheez, that was a bit rough.

I love that flower charm with the pearl in the middle. I definitely agree that you got there with this one. I love it! Thank you for sharing it and playing along with ABC Christmas Challenge ~ Wendy
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean! Nothing like pressure to make one feel like it can't be done! But you have done a great job with the flower theme! It's gorgeous and I love the dark, rich colors you used. Sorry I am late! I fell behind and you know that goes! Once you fall behind, it takes forever to catch up! Ugh! Thanks for joining us at Crafty Catz last week! I hope we see you again!
ReplyDeleteArgh! I'm with you on flowers. I love them, but they are also my nemesis. You nailed the theme here though. Love how you echoed the pretty background with your die cut bloom xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat card! Like the floral background paper, the pretty die cut flower and the fact that it's a Christmas card that isn't red and green...although, gluing the delicate red
ReplyDeleteChristmas script onto its white background was not very easy to do!
What a pretty combination of paper, word dies and tulle! And the YNS flower pair is such a fabulous touch. You nailed this challenge!
